Director Rob Reiner has never made a sequel in his long career, and he hadn’t ever contemplated a follow-up to the most beloved rock comedy ever made, 1984’s This Is Spinal Tap. But then Harry Shearer, who plays Tap bassist Derek Smalls, fought a yearlong battle to reclaim ownership of the film — and won. ”We sat and we said, ‘Well, what do we do?'” Reiner says in the new episode of Rolling Stone Music Now. “We got the rights back. Taylor Swift is undeniably one of the richest Hollywood celebrities right now. The 35-year-old Cruel Summer singer recently earned a spot on the 2025 Forbes richest celebrities list, with a reported net worth of $1.6 billion.
Her record-breaking Eras Tour, which lasted an incredible 21 months and covered 149 shows in 51 cities worldwide, solidified her status not just as a global superstar but also as a financial juggernaut in the entertainment world.
While Swift’s fortune comes primarily from music, only a handful of celebrities have managed to leverage their fame into even bigger financial empires through smart investments and business ventures.
Think of Vincent McMahon, whose Tko Group holdings, parent company of WWE and UFC, push his net worth to around $3.3 billion, or Michael Jordan, whose legendary basketball career combined with Nike endorsements, royalties from the Jordan brand, and stakes in various businesses has made him worth $3.5 billion.

Kelly Clarkson‘s life has been serving her more blues than bangers lately. Sure, she’s got that American Idol glow from back in 2002 when she emerged as the winner. But fame doesn’t exactly come with a “skip heartbreak” button for anyone. And in recent years, it’s been less glitter and more grit. This was especially true with all the chaos that came with her split from Brandon Blackstock. He wasn’t just her husband but also her manager.
What once looked like a sweet, red carpet-ready love story slowly turned into something way heavier. And because Clarkson’s life isn’t exactly private, the whole messy ride played out in the public eye. Headlines. Rumors. Side-eyes. It was all there, loud and unrelenting.
The fairytale sheen people thought they saw? Gone. Replaced by court dates, legal paperwork, and the kind of emotional weight no one signs up...

When Ozzy Osbourne brought Metallica on tour in 1986, he noticed his young opening act blasting Black Sabbath in their dressing room and covering his old band’s songs in soundchecks. Osbourne’s first assumption, he said later, was that Metallica were mocking him. He was stunned to learn they were actually displaying their hero worship, and trying to coax him onstage with them.
As discussed in the new episode of Rolling Stone Music Now, Osbourne — who died July 22 at the age of 76 — could be touchingly insecure for a beloved and wildly influential metal legend.

There have been rumors floating around the Internet, claiming that not only is Diddy HIV-positive, but he has also hidden it from those around him. Let’s take a look at what has been fueling these rumors.
Singer/songwriter Jaguar Wright has made some explosive claims about the music industry in the past, and a lot of her accusations have been aimed at Diddy. On December 25, 2024, Wright appeared for an interview with RealLyfe Productions, where she made a ton of claims against her fellow artists.
At one point, Wright said something that has been misinterpreted on social media. During the interview, Wright praised businessman and former basketball player Magic Johnson, who has been open about his HIV diagnosis.
She stated,

If you’ve seen “Eddington,” you know the scene. Mayor Ted Garcia (Pedro Pascal) is hosting a barbecue for his supporters at his New Mexico home when his nemesis and re-election opponent, Sheriff Joe Cross (Joaquin Phoenix), arrives to disrupt the event. Sabrina Carpenter is as good as any current pop star at cultivating controversy and attention — the latest evidence was the now-subsided furor over her absurd Man’s Best Friend album cover, which seems to take cues from Spinal Tap’s Smell the Glove. “She’s leaning into it and laughing about it at the same time,” says Angie Martoccio, who profiled Carpenter for her recent Rolling Stone cover story — which revealed that image aside, the singer’s true obsession is music.

What if Bruce Springsteen had followed up his synth-and-drum-machine-driven 1994 hit “Streets of Philadelphia” with a whole album largely in that vein? What if he’d dropped an album of Great American Songbook-style ballads instead of 2017’s Western Stars? Springsteen’s just-released boxed set Tracks II: The Lost Albums is packed with seven albums’ worth of alternate realities and musical surprises, offering a reminder of just how much he’s capable of outside of his stadium-shaking work with the E Street Band.

Makeup trends have done quite the 180 over the decades. After years of contour-crazy, highlight-heavy looks that defined the millennial era of the 2010s, Gen Z is embracing a fresher no-makeup makeup look. Still carefully crafted, as it’s all about creating the illusion of wearing nothing while actually wearing quite a bit. But now, iconic bombshell Pamela Anderson is taking it a step further. Not just skipping the heavy glam, but going completely bare-faced. And honestly, it is a total game-changer.
Known for her over-the-top beauty in the ’90s, Anderson’s new stripped-down style is a very refreshing shift. In a chat with Drew Barrymore, the actress finally revealed what made her leave everything behind and let it all hang!
How Pamela Anderson’s bare-faced look sparked a beauty revolution
In an age where filters, contouring, and 10-step routines dominate social media, Pamela Anderson‘s fresh-faced appearance feels like a breath of fresh air.

Both from pretty much the same era. Both of them also started out very young as musical prodigies, who figured out early that they needed to be in charge of their music.”

For a few surreal years during the early 2000s, I stood just outside the velvet rope of modern celebrity, close enough to bask in its glow, far enough to avoid its consequences. I was a publicist — not just for Sean “Diddy” Combs but also for Jennifer Lopez, Alicia Keys, Jon Bon Jovi, Kate Spade, Jessica Simpson and Naomi Campbell. My job was to shape images, spin crises and polish imperfections into allure. Fame was the product. I was part of the packaging.
But no client defined that chapter of my life more than Diddy. Back then, he was one of the most visible men on earth — a music mogul, fashion tastemaker and tabloid fixture. I took his calls at 1 a.m., traveled on his private jets and drafted statements that bore his name but never his truth. I thought I was managing a persona. In reality, I was helping protect a system.

After a consortium led by Scooter Braun bought the rights to the masters for her first six albums in 2019, much to Swift’s displeasure, she hatched a simple, if wildly labor-intensive plan: Make new Taylor’s Versions of her catalog available, and then ask her massive fanbase to stream them instead of the originals.

Patti LuPone, the legendary and often outspoken three-time Tony Award winner, has found herself at the center of a major controversy following remarks made in a The New Yorker interview published on May 26. Her unfiltered criticism of two fellow Tony winners — Kecia Lewis and Audra McDonald — ignited widespread backlash across the Broadway community, sparking conversations about race, privilege, and respect within the theater world. Below is a breakdown of what happened and what's next.
The Comments
The controversy stems from a sound bleed issue between LuPone’s production of The Roommate with Mia Farrow and the neighboring theater hosting the Alicia Keys musical Hell’s Kitchen. According to LuPone, noise from Hell’s Kitchen could be heard from her show. On her stage manager’s advice, she reached out to Robert Wankel, head of the Shubert Organization, to resolve the issue. The problem was quickly addressed, and LuPone sent flowers...

Patti LuPone has publicly apologized to fellow Broadway actors Kecia Lewis and Audra McDonald for comments she made in a recent New Yorker article, writing in an Instagram post, “For as long as I have worked in the theatre, I have spoken my mind and never apologized. That is changing today.
“I am deeply sorry for the words I used during The New Yorker interview, particularly about Kecia Lewis, which were demeaning and disrespectful,” LuPone writes about her comments which included referring to Lewis as “bitch.”
“I regret my flippant and emotional responses during this interview, which were inappropriate, and I am devastated that my behavior has offended others and has run counter to what we hold dear in this community. Adam Levine’s name almost became synonymous with The Voice at one point in time. As an original coach on the TV show’s 2011 premiere, he quickly established his position as a mentor who knew how to win, guiding his team to victory in Seasons 1, 5, and 9. What many viewers don’t realize, though, is just how steep the fall after the peak was.
Despite his early dominance over the Top 3, Levine went through a dry spell that stretched across multiple consecutive seasons. And just how dry was the spell? His contestants didn’t just not come in first, they failed to even reach the Top 3. In the high-stakes, harsh world of televised singing competitions, Levine’s downward spiral after a few good seasons is hard to ignore.
