Stephen King Shares His Opinon on Pet Sematary: Bloodlines and the Prequel Movie's Original Story
Image
Stephen King has given his seal of approval to Paramount+'s upcoming prequel film Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, praising David Duchovny's performance. The new film serves as a prequel to King's Pet Sematary and takes stylistic choices from the 2019 remake. It is set decades before the events of the original story. Pet Sematary: Bloodlines follows a young Jud Crandall as he discovers dark family secrets in Ludlow, Maine. It confronts an ancient evil that threatens to destroy everything. The film releases on October 6th.

Iconic author Stephen King recently gave his seal of approval for Paramount+'s upcoming prequel film Pet Sematary: Bloodlines.

The upcoming horror movie serves as a prequel to King's Pet Sematary, which itself was adapted into a much-loved movie in 1989 and again in 2019. The 2019 film was adapted from King's 1983 horror novel, and starred Jason Clarke, John Lithgow, Amy Seimetz, Alyssa Brooke Levine, Jeté Laurence, and Hugo Lavoie.

Who Plays Zelda In The Pet Sematary Remake?
Image
Here's who plays Zelda in 2019's Pet Sematary remake. A lot of great Stephen King movie adaptations arrived during the 1980s, including Stanley Kubrick's The Shining or John Carpenter's Christine. One that also provided audiences with plenty of sleepless nights was Pet Sematary, based on the 1983 novel of the same name. The book is set in the town of Ludlow, where a doctor digs up the body of his toddler son and buries him in the "sour" Earth of an old, Native American burial ground. While this brings the dead back to life, they return as twisted, evil versions of themselves.

Pet Sematary is one of King's darkest novels, and the author himself has spoken of how much it scares him. The book's themes and nihilistic tone make it hard to shake off after reading, and in 1989 Mary Lambert's Pet Sematary - which has a TV prequel...

Pam Grier Joins Pet Sematary Prequel
Image
Pam Grier has boarded the Pet Sematary prequel in the works at Paramount+. The upcoming movie, which is still as of yet untitled, serves as a prequel to the studio's reboot that was released in theaters in 2019. Not much else has been revealed about the plot, but the prequel will delve into the origin story of the cursed graveyard that brings back the dead as something much more sinister than they were before.

As of now, details about Grier's role in the Pet Sematary prequel haven't been revealed. Several names have previously been announced for the cast, as it's been reported that Jackson White (Mrs. Fletcher) will play a young Jud Crandall, the elderly neighbor played by John Lithgow in the reboot and Fred Gwynne in the original Pet Sematary. The prequel also stars Forrest Goodluck (The Revenant), Jack Mulhern (Mare of Easttown), Natalie Alyn Lind (The Goldbergs), and Isabella...

“Pet Sematary” Creepily Continues The Stephen King Remake Trend
The hottest trend in horror right now is Stephen King, and specifically, remakes of some of his seminal works. Most recently, It was a box office smash, which got the ball rolling. Now, we have a new Pet Sematary on our hands. A more efficient updating of the original film, it also makes enough changes to the story that we’re not just watching the exact same narrative play out over again. Bleak, creepy, and effective enough to recommend, it’s also not nearly as good as the early buzz out of SXSW this year suggested. It’s a decent fright flick but that’s about it. The movie is, of course, a remake of the adaptation of the Stephen King novel of the same name. The Creed family is looking for a slower paced life as they relocate to a small town in rural Maine from their busy Boston life.

Directors Kevin Kolsch & Dennis Widmyer and cast members Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz and Jete Laurance are interviewed for their movie Pet Sematary based on the book by Stephen King. The 2019 film is the second adaptation, the first being a well-remembered chiller in 1989.

Along with Clarke and Seimetz the film stars John Lithgow, Obssa Ahmed, Alyssa Brooke Levine and Maria Herrera. DaniElle DeLaite talks to the cast about how they brought King’s seminal work back to the big screen. Clarke talked about the lure of King’s work, the sense of security and intimacy he creates and how this heightens the subsequent terror. Seimetz jokes about the emotional turbulence inherent in the role, and how her life experience helped her channel some of the darker and most challenging character moments.

Jete Laurance talks about playing both versions of her characters, and the make up process helped to bring the character out.

Final Trailer for Kölsch/Widmyer's Adaptation of King's 'Pet Sematary'
"If you cheat death, there's a price to be paid." Paramount has released a third & final trailer for their new take on Stephen King's Pet Sematary, opening in theaters everywhere this week. This new adaptation sticks close to the story in King's book, about a family that moves to a rural home where they discover a "Pet Sematary" nearby. After the family cat is killed, they bury it in the Pet Sematary and then weird things start to happen, leading to another tragedy. We all know what happens, it's the creepiness that pervades. Jason Clarke & Amy Seimetz star, along with John Lithgow, Alyssa Brooke Levine, Hugo Lavoie, Obssa Ahmed, and Jeté Laurence. The reviews of this have been great so far (see Chris Evangelista's take), with plenty of praise for the terrifying adaptation of the tragic story of the Creed family. In theaters this weekend. Alexandra Essoe in Starry Eyes (2014)
What Does Stephen King Think of Those Big Changes in the Pet Sematary Remake?
Alexandra Essoe in Starry Eyes (2014)
Next weekend we will finally see the release of Starry Eyes directing duo Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer's remake of Stephen King's scariest novel Pet Sematary. The movie held it's World Premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin just a few weeks back and since then the positive reviews have been flooding in. But what does the author of the source material think of this new adaptation - and more importantly, the remake's choice to switch one infamous death out for another character altogether? Well, King recently sat down for an interview and let us all know that he thinks Pet Sematary is "f*cking great."

Specifically, Stephen King says this.

"It's f-ing great. It's a really good movie. It's a grown-up, adult kind of movie. It's not like twelve semi-clad teens get killed in a summer camp."

He then goes on to talk a bit about...

Why Did the Pet Sematary Trailer Spoil One of Its Biggest Plot Twists?
Dennis Widmyer and Kevin K&#246lsch's remake of Stephen King's scariest novel Pet Sematary is coming our way next weekend. So far we have seen some killer trailers and TV Spots for the film, but this fan has been left wondering just why the hell they bothered to spoil the movie's big twist in these trailers. You know the twist I speak of at this point, the one where Ellie Creed is the one who meets her fate at the front end of the infamous Orinoco truck instead of little toddler Gage. So how do the movie's directors feel about the marketing team behind the scenes spoiling that twist right up front?

Well, the Starry Eyes co-directors recently sat down and talked a bit about just that, and let us all know that while they would not have revealed the twist if they had absolute power, they can see...

Pet Sematary Remake Is Drenched in Bloody Violence Promises R-Rating
Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer's remake of Stephen King's Pet Sematary is heading our way next month, and we couldn't be more excited. The movie held it's World Premiere at this year's SXSW Film Festival last week and has been snatching up positive reviews left and right ever since. And for all of you guys out there that may have been worried this new take on King's most terrifying novel might go the PG-13 route, no worries as today the MPAA confirmed that Pet Sematary has been slapped with an R-rating for "horror violence, bloody images, and some language."

And thank God, right? I know that spreading the word that Pet Sematary is rated R might not seem like news, but can you imagine if instead of this glorious R-rating we're sharing with you guys today, there had been a PG-13 slapped onto the movie? Mother of God,...

Pet Sematary Review
Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer’s Pet Sematary flips the Creed family narrative, breathes delectable darkness and while Act I takes its time building backwoods tension, once the tale’s famed “incident” occurs, it’s all-aboard this speeding vessel into an undead abyss. Stephen King adaptations are thriving as of late – It and Gerald’s Game, off the top of my head – and Pet Sematary does the prolific suspense author proud. Some might balk at the “switched” narrative, but there’s so much more to embrace about a rebirthed ballet-dancing daughter and Rachel Creed’s bolstered presence. And that’s all on top of the fact that Kölsch and Widmyer *earn* their jump scares.

Sometimes dead is better – but this mean-spirited remake isn’t one of those instances.

We pick up with the Creed clan having just moved to sleepy Ludlow, Maine as an escape from Boston’s hectic madness.

Next month, Paramount and Starry Eyes directing duo Kevin K&#246lsch and Dennis Widmyer will be unleashing an all-new remake/reimagining/readaptation of It and The Dark Tower author Stephen King's Pet Sematary. Arguably King's scariest novel, Pet Sematary is all set to crawl out of the grave and into the night later this month when it hosts its World Premiere at this year's SXSW Film Festival on March 17th. The much-anticipated film then lurks into a theater near you on April 5, 2019. And to get you guys ready for its release, today we have two spooky new stills from the upcoming remake/readaptation featuring new Louis Creed played by Jason Clarke.

The first still features Jason Clarke wandering, in what appears to be his sleep, through the fog-covered titular cemetery in the middle of the dark woods. Those who have read the book and/or seen the original film know this scene well.

Sometimes Dead is Better - Second Trailer for 'Pet Sematary' Remake
"It's not some campfire story... They're warnings. The local tribes carved them before they fled... They fear that place." Paramount has debuted a second trailer for their new take on Stephen King's Pet Sematary, which was already adapted once before in 1989. The first teaser trailer arrived last October, and this new one is even better - watch out. This new adaptation sticks close to the story in the book, about a family that moves to a rural home where they discover a "Pet Sematary" nearby. After the family cat is killed, they bury it in the Pet Sematary and then very weird things start to happen. Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz star, with John Lithgow, Alyssa Brooke Levine, Hugo Lavoie, Jeté Laurence, and Obssa Ahmed. Pet Sematary TV Spot Reveals The Creepy New Zelda
Sometimes dead is better, but sometimes resurrecting an old horror property can yield surprisingly worthwhile results. And while we’re still a few months away from being able to judge for ourselves which of these two categories Pet Sematary falls into, the promotion so far suggests a remake with potential.

Just take this tense little TV spot, viewable above, which offers our first fleeting glimpse at the character of Zelda, played by Alyssa Brooke Levine. Seen crawling across the floor amidst the 15-second preview, Zelda is the late sister of Rachel Creed, played this time by Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color).

In the original Stephen King novel, the character suffered from spinal meningitis and died when she and Rachel were both young. For the 1988 Pet Sematary film, Zelda was played by a grown man named Andrew Hubatsek, and it was thanks in part to this unconventional casting choice that the character...

Freaky First Trailer for Kölsch & Widmyer's 'Pet Sematary' Adaptation
"It was a myth... Kids used to dare each other to go into the woods at night." Paramount has unveiled the first trailer for their new take on Stephen King's Pet Sematary, which was already adapted once before in 1989. This new adaptation sticks close to the story in the book, about a family that moves to a rural home where they discover a "Pet Sematary" nearby. Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz star, with John Lithgow, Alyssa Brooke Levine, Hugo Lavoie, Jeté Laurence, and Obssa Ahmed. I'm actually curious about this film. It doesn't need to be remade, but maybe it will turn out good. And from this first look, it seems there is some promise for this fresh take on the freaky small town horror story. That cat is the scariest part.

Pet Sematary Remake Finds Its Very Scary Zelda
Brad Greenquist in Simetierre (1989)
Pet Sematary remake screenwriter Jeff Buhler promised that the movie is going to be one of the scariest Stephen King adaptations in history back in May of this year. It appears that the screenwriter wasn't kidding because it's just been revealed that the remake has cast its Zelda character. Fans of the original movie have been waiting to see if the sister with spinal meningitis was going to make a return ever since the new film was announced. While Zelda only had a brief part in the original, she left her mark on horror history.

Young actress Alyssa Brooke Levine has been cast as Rachel Creed's sister Zelda in the Pet Sematary remake. The 13-year old actress is playing a younger version of the character than was previously seen in Mary Lambert's 1989 adaptation. Andrew Hubatsek played the role, and while brief, his scene is one of the more memorable.
