One Chicago fans have been eating good in 2025. The franchise has doubled down on what makes it stand out from its procedural peers by leaning into crossovers and character development. There've been some downturns and narrative decisions that have rubbed fans the wrong way, but by and large it's thriving.
One Chicago is also coming up on production wrap dates for all three of its shows. This is not a very surprising revelation, given that we are well into the storylines for Chicago Med, Chicago Fire and Pd, but it is worth noting because all three shows have yet to be renewed by NBC...

Something is in the air right now. Networks have taken an axe and decided to cut down several shows that otherwise looked primed for renewal. CBS has been the biggest culprit in this regard. It has taken down two of its FBI spinoffs, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International.
CBS has also canceled Swat, despite bringing it back from the dead twice. Did we mention that fans are still irate over the network's decision to end Blue Bloods, despite the fact that a spinoff is in the works? Cancelations have been all the rage over the last few weeks, and One Chicago shows are off the air for the next few weeks. Should we be worried? Could our beloved franchise be next?

Chicago Med star Luke Mitchell recently revealed how he'd like one of the show's former stars to return. The two previously worked together on a short-lived television series.
Speaking with Cbr, Mitchell spoke about Ato Essandoh, the actor who portrayed Dr. Isidore Latham as a series regular in Seasons 2-5 of NBC's hit medical drama from Dick Wolf. Essandoh returned in Season 6 as a guest star, but hasn't shared any scenes with Mitchell, who joined the cast in Season 9. "He's got a headshot on one of the sets -- a framed headshot of his character -- and I've taken a selfie in front of it and sent it to him," Mitchell said of Essandoh. "I love Ato. I'd love for him to come back, but I think the guy is just, he's too good of an actor. He's always working. He's booked out."

For the first eight seasons of Chicago Med, Brian Tee appeared in the series regular role of Dr. Ethon Choi. While he hasn't played Dr. Choi again since Season 8, Tee has returned twice to the NBC medical drama, just in the role of director.
While they never got to share any scenes, Luke Mitchell, who joined Chicago Med during its ninth season, had nothing but kind words about Tee during a recent interview with Cbr. "I just worked with Brian Tee for the for the second time. I worked with him once last season and once this season. Chicago Med has a dramatic new episode on March 5 that fans should not miss.
The new installment is a mini crossover with Chicago Fire, as Mouch (Christian Stolte) shows up to play the hero.
It’s also an important night for Dr. Mitch Ripley (played by Luke Mitchell).
Ripley has been through a lot during Chicago Med Season 10.
Ripley’s childhood friend Sully died of cancer, he got suspended by Sharon Goodwin after he crossed some lines, and then Dr. Hannah Asher ended their relationship.
Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) was left with no choice after Ripley tried to treat a man he had beaten up at a bar. And Ripley lashed out at Asher one too many times, leading her to end things.

A new Chicago Med episode presents a small crossover with Chicago Fire.
It’s always more fun to have full three-show crossovers, but it’s also interesting when a character or two pops up on one of the other shows.
Such is the case for Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 15.
The new episode, Down In A Hole, debuts on Wednesday, March 5.
We hope some of the cliffhangers from recent episodes are resolved, but there are also folks from the Chicago Fire Department on hand for a daring rescue.
As a reminder, during the last episode of Chicago Med, Dr. Hannah Asher ended things (for good) with Dr. Mitch Ripley.
Ripley is still suspended, pending Sharon Goodwin possibly firing him.

We have already gone through the tragedies of Chicago Fire, so we thought it only right that we do the same for Chicago Med. The medical drama shares Fire's lighter tone, especially when it comes to personal subplots, but the professional stuff can get pretty hair-raising.
As with our Fire list, we wanted to place an emphasis on characters who worked at Gaffney Medical Center. That excludes family members and patients, in an effort to keep the emphasis on "main." The three deaths listed below remain devastating for their own distinct reasons.
Dr. David Downey (S1.E18)
Dr. David Downey (Gregg Henry) may not ring a bell to current fans, but he played a pretty significant part in the first half of Chicago Med's debut season. He was a wiley veteran who doubled as a mentor figure for Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell).
Their closeness took a tragic turn, though, when...

The new episode of Chicago Med began with the hospital receiving a patient influx.
Another local hospital had closed its doors, forcing more people to Med.
It was a chaotic atmosphere in the waiting room, with many sick patients trying to get help.
A National Accreditation Board of Hospitals representative was waiting among the patients.
The man was upset about being kept waiting, possibly hinting at a bad time for Gaffney since he could shut down hospitals.
Sharon Goodwin and Maggie Lockwood began jumping through hoops to keep the grumpy man content.
Goodwin feared the investigator was nit-picking to find problems and asked Maggie to keep everyone in line.

Chicago Med returns from its brief hiatus for a new winter episode.
This new episode debuts at 8/7c on Wednesday, February 19.
The Chicago Med writers have to deal with a cliffhanger from the previous installment, where Dr. Mitch Ripley had an incident.
Ripley decided to go bar-hopping (again) instead of spending time with Dr Hannah Asher. His spiral continues. And that spiral is dangerous to have around an addict (Asher) who has strived to better herself in recent years.
Upon leaving the bar, Ripley bumped into a man who wasn’t happy about it. A tussle took place, and Ripley badly beat up the man before running off.
Elsewhere, Cch Pounder joined the Chicago Med cast as a doctor trying to help Sharon Goodwin. She is trying to cope with her near-death experience from earlier in the season.

The following contains major spoilers for Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 12, "In the Wake," which debuted Wednesday, Feb. 5 on NBC.
Chicago Med Season 10, Episode 12, "In the Wake" picks up where the show left off before the One Chicago crossover -- and that's not a good thing. The episode isn't quite as melodramatic as its pre-crossover predecessor, but it shares the same bad habit of leaning into the drama above all else. Most of the episode involves bringing up bad things from characters' pasts, and only one of them has any kind of constructive purpose. In fact, one of them borders on destructive.

The Chicago Med cast introduced a new face during Season 10, Episode 12.
The February 5 episode was titled In the Wake, and much of the night focused on the overworked nurses.
Nurse Doris (Lorena Diaz) gets asked to take on added responsibilities as Nurse Maggie Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) tries to balance the workload.
But Doris makes a huge mistake when she gives a young girl morphine that was intended for another patient.
Dr. Caitlin Lenox (Sarah Ramos) works to save the girl as Doris retreats to a supply closet, where Maggie later finds her crying.
Maggie feels responsible because Doris previously told her she was juggling too many tasks. She seeks to save Doris’ job and says that if Doris goes, so does she.
Lenox backs off wanting Doris fired when Maggie sticks out her neck and agrees to help find resources for the overworked nurses.

One Chicago made some notable changes to its schedule for the January 29 crossover event. The regular order of shows was switched around, so that Chicago Fire kicked off the action instead of airing second, behind Chicago Med. Chicago Pd, as always, held down the third and final time slot.
This change proved confusing to some fans, especially those who were tuning in expecting to see Med, only to see Fire characters interacting with people from the other shows. This sizable change raises the question about the One Chicago schedule moving forward. Will NBC continue to tweak its Wednesday lineup or will it resume its usual order?

Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber) spent years as a recurring player within Chicago Med. He was promoted to main cast in season 7, and gradually become one of the most importance characters in the entire show. It's difficult to imagine Med in the modern day without its resident grump.
That doesn't mean the character is sitting pretty, of course. The fall finale of Med season 10 ended with Dr. Archer attempting to give his resignation. He was tired of bumping heads with newcomer Dr. Caitlin Lenox (Sarah Ramos), and decided Gaffney was no longer the place for him.

One Chicago made fans wait a whopping six years between crossover events. We're happy to say, the wait was worth it. The franchise delivered a thrilling, three-part event that incorporated every veteran character and made them a vital part of the solution to a citywide disaster.
There's a lot to take in and a lot of screen time to divided up among Chicago Fire, Chicago Med and Chicago Pd, especially given that characters from all three shows appear in all three episodes. It's an Avengers style crossover if we've ever seen one. Which is why we wanted to provide a recap of the 2025 event without spoilers.

Chicago Med was supposed to be on NBC tonight, but other matters came up. Namely, the farewell speech given by Joe Biden ahead of the United States Presidential Inauguration of Donald Trump on Jan. 20.
The farewell speech will be broadcast on NBC from 8 p.m. Et to 8:15 Et. Once its wrapped, NBC will cut to a return of the Chicago Med season 10 episode "Trust Fall." It may seem like a minor change, a 15 minute delay, but the network decided to scrap the entire One Chicago lineup as a result.

NBC has an updated Chicago Med episode schedule for January 2025.
It became necessary after the network postponed its One Chicago lineup from January 15.
President Joe Biden will speak from the Oval Office at 8/7c on Wednesday night, leading NBC to push back its primetime schedule.

Just like the rest of the One Chicago universe, the medical procedural drama, Chicago Med, is back from its midseason break. And just like the other shows in the franchise, the medical drama returned after a fall finale which ended on a dramatic note. Dr. Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) was the focus of the winter premiere episode, with Episode 10 shifting its focus to Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram), who has a visit from her past. After having a hand in saving the life of Dr. Goodwin, Steven Weber, who plays Dr. Dean Archer, in the medical drama, has recently discussed the potential of a romantic relationship in his life.
