Chicago Med star Luke Mitchell recently revealed how he'd like one of the show's former stars to return. The two previously worked together on a short-lived television series.

Speaking with Cbr, Mitchell spoke about Ato Essandoh, the actor who portrayed Dr. Isidore Latham as a series regular in Seasons 2-5 of NBC's hit medical drama from Dick Wolf. Essandoh returned in Season 6 as a guest star, but hasn't shared any scenes with Mitchell, who joined the cast in Season 9. "He's got a headshot on one of the sets -- a framed headshot of his character -- and I've taken a selfie in front of it and sent it to him," Mitchell said of Essandoh. "I love Ato. I'd love for him to come back, but I think the guy is just, he's too good of an actor. He's always working. He's booked out."

The doc — who almost quit his job at the hospital recently — has been busy as of late, saving the life of Director of Patient Services Sharon Goodwin and coming through during last week’s crossover event to help rescue Fire’s Stella, P.D.’s Ruzek and dozens of innocent lives. And later this season, the trauma surgeon will get the spotlight in a special Med installment.

Dr. Dean Archer (Steven Weber) spent years as a recurring player within Chicago Med. He was promoted to main cast in season 7, and gradually become one of the most importance characters in the entire show. It's difficult to imagine Med in the modern day without its resident grump.

That doesn't mean the character is sitting pretty, of course. The fall finale of Med season 10 ended with Dr. Archer attempting to give his resignation. He was tired of bumping heads with newcomer Dr. Caitlin Lenox (Sarah Ramos), and decided Gaffney was no longer the place for him.

The farewell speech will be broadcast on NBC from 8 p.m. Et to 8:15 Et. Once its wrapped, NBC will cut to a return of the Chicago Med season 10 episode "Trust Fall." It may seem like a minor change, a 15 minute delay, but the network decided to scrap the entire One Chicago lineup as a result.

Don't worry, though, because Chicago Med and the rest of the franchise will be coming back on January 22. The episode that was originally slated to air on January 15, and even had a promo air after the winter premiere. Titled "Broken Hearts," the episode will see plenty of new conflicts for both Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) and Dr.

President Joe Biden will speak from the Oval Office at 8/7c on Wednesday night, leading NBC to push back its primetime schedule.

This is likely disappointing news to Chicago P.D. fans who had to wait out the long winter hiatus for new episodes.

But not to worry. Many new installments are slated for this winter and spring, as Chicago P.D. Season 12 has a long way to go.

That wouldn’t come back to hurt him, either, as Goodwin was happy that Archer made sure she was patched up as much as possible. He made sure she had the quality of life she wanted.
