Details on their Mummy characters have not been revealed.

Industry veterans Lloyd Braun, Sarah Bremner and Noah Oppenheim have launched Prologue Entertainmentbacked by Jeff Zuckerand RedBird Capital Partners.

Prologue will develop and produce features and premium scripted series and has boarded several projects including Kathryn Bigelow’s untitled White House thriller at Netflix, written by Oppenheim and expected in 2025.

The Root Of All Evil at Atomic Monster and Blumhouse is a psychological thriller based on Ravi Somaiya’s reporting on an exorcism in Mexico City. Sean Tretta is adapting the screenplay.

Rounding out the initial slate is female survival thriller Trapped, based on Jill Blankenship’s Black List screenplay.

Industry vets Lloyd Braun, Sarah Bremner and Noah Oppenheim have announced the launch of Prologue Entertainment, an independent production studio.

The indie studio, with financial backing from Jeff Zucker and RedBird Capital, will develop and produce premium scripted series and film content.

What’s a suitable next act for a former ABC executive turned talent agency chief, a former NBC network news division executive that also pens screenplays and a veteran film and television producer?

For Lloyd Braun, Noah Oppenheim and Sarah Bremner it’s putting together their own production banner to finance and co-finance feature films and scripted TV series, with cash provided by Jeff Zucker’s vast war chest courtesy of RedBird Capital. “My investment philosophy has always been driven by working with the best in the business. Lloyd, Sarah and Noah are prime examples of that, and they fit into our growing portfolio well,” stated Zucker on Thursday.

The trio have sealed a deal to formally unveil their shingle, Prologue Entertainment, and reveal an initial slate of three features that the company is going to market with.

A trio of entertainment veterans — Lloyd Braun, Sarah Bremner and Noah Oppenheim — have come together to form independent production studio Prologue Entertainment, with an investment from Jeff Zucker and RedBird Capital Partners.

Prologue, with offices in New York and L.A., is set up to develop and produce premium scripted series and film content, and will house existing projects that are already under way. According to the company, it will be able to finance and co-finance productions. Braun, a longtime TV exec, most recently was chairman of WME; Bremner is a former Netflix film executive and most recently served as president of Ava DuVernay’s Array Filmworks; and Oppenheim was formerly president of NBC News.

The amount of RedBird Capital’s investment in Prologue is not being disclosed. RedBird’s investment will be overseen by Zucker, the former CEO of CNN who is an operating partner at RedBird.

Star Trek: Picard season 3 received a huge nomination from the Writers Guild Awards. A year after Picard season 3 premiered on Paramount+, the final season of the Patrick Stewart-led Star Trek series has been recognized for its excellence and racking up awards. Star Trek: Picard season 3 recently swept the 51st annual Saturn Awards, nabbing Best Science Fiction Series, Best Actor for Patrick Stewart, Best Supporting Actress for Jeri Ryan, and Best Supporting Actor for Jonathan Frakes.

On Twitter/X, Star Trek: Picard season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas posted about his show garnering an Episodic Drama Writers Guild Award nomination for Star Trek: Picard season 3's finale, "The Last Generation.

That planned female-led Zorro reboot series is no longer happening, at least not at The CW. Per TVLine, it was recently revealed that several projects in the works at the network had been shelved. That includes titles like Jake Chang, a new series that, like Riverdale, would have been based on Archie Comics characters, as well as The Powerpuff Girls, a live-action remake of the animated superhero series. The Zorro show that was also in development at The CW was also announced as one of the shows that was getting the boot at the network, though it could still theoretically be picked up elsewhere.

“We’ve already given those back to the studios,” The CW's President of Entertainment, Brad Schwartz, is quoted as saying. “So they’re free to develop those and sell them anywhere.”

Captain Liam Shaw, played by Todd Stashwick on the third season of "Star Trek: Picard," has rapidly become a favorite of Trekkies everywhere. Exclusive: Adventure Media, the artist-driven management and production company launched last summer by ICM Partners veterans Chris von Goetz and James Robins Early and producer Aaliyah Williams, has made its first manager hire. Matt Klasco is joining the company, reuniting with former ICM colleagues von Goetz and Robins Early.

Antonio Banderas famously portrayed the masked vigilante in 1998’s film The Mask of Zorro and its 2005 follow-up The Legend of Zorro. Banderas recently opened up about being game for a third installment of the franchise and who he would like to pass on the torch to play the titular character.

The “Supernatural” prequel “The Winchesters,” the “Walker” prequel “Walker: Independence,” and the DC series “Gotham Knights” have all landed pilot orders at The CW.

In addition, the broadcaster has given six additional scripts for their “Zorro” project. Further details on that project can be found below.

“The Winchesters” was first reported as being in development back in June 2021. Told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), the show is the untold love story of how John met Mary and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world.

Robbie Thompson will serve as writer and executive producer on the pilot, with Thompson previously having been a writer and co-executive producer on the original show. Jensen and Danneel Ackles will executive produce via Chaos Machine, which has an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television. Wbtv and CBS Studios will co-produce.

Exclusive: Zorro is headed to the CW. The young-skewing network has put in development a gender-swapped reimagining of the classic masked vigilante character, from filmmaker Robert Rodriguez, writer-director Rebecca Rodriguez, Sean Tretta (Mayans M.C.) and Ben Siverman and Howard T. Edward Norton and Joss Stone have joined the voice cast of Paper Birds Pt. 2, the follow-up to the VR experience that hails from 3Dar, Baobab Studios and Oculus. Like its predecessor, it is bowing at the Tribeca Film Festival. It will be available on Oculus Quest beginning July 8.

The pair join the returning Archie Yates in the story that follows Toto (Yates), a short sighted child with an exceptional talent for music. With the guidance from his grandparents Robert (Norton), a highly respected musician in town devoted to his music above all else, and Elsa (Stone), who has set aside her dreams of being an artist to care for her family, Toto must find his way through the world of darkness to bring back his sister, taken away by the shadows. Mayans M.C. rides on for another season!

The biker drama set on the Cali/Mexi border has been renewed for a fourth season on FX, it was announced today by Nick Grad, President, Original Programming, FX Entertainment.

The series, led by Elgin James, co-creator and executive producer, will return in 2022.

“Elgin James, his creative collaborators, this incredible cast and crew delivered on another epic season of Mayans M.C.,” said Grad.

“Through three seasons, Mayans has told stories that resonate well beyond the border where the club thrives and survives, inviting fans inside their world and giving them a seat at the table.”

Sons of Anarchy has been off the air for several years, but the franchise remains alive thanks to its spinoff Mayans M.C.

FX dropped the official trailer for the long-delayed Mayans M.C. Season 3 this week, and it left fans of the original series with a lot of questions.

The reason?

The footage shows Allesandro Montez (Jacob Vargas) delivering a warning to an unseen person.

"One wrong move could start a war," Montez says, before the footage switching to someone struggling after someone tries to suffocate them.

While the face is not visible, the Road Captain patch is there in the frame, seemingly alluding to Allesandro's death.

It's hard to imagine a trailer spoiling such a huge development, but it could be an interesting way to drum up interest for the third season, especially for fans of the original series who have not been keeping up to speed with the spinoff.

Exclusive: Mayans M.C. co-executive producer Sean Tretta has signed a two-year overall deal with Fox 21 Television Studios, the studio behind the Sons of Anarchy spinoff.

Under the pact, Tretta will continue on The Mayans, which has been renewed for a third season, in addition to developing and writing new projects for networks and streaming platforms. On Fox 21’s talent roster, Tretta joins Mayans M.C. co-creator, executive producer and showrunner Elgin James, who signed an overall deal with the studio earlier this week.

Mayans M.C. rode into season two strong last week with 1.4 million viewers in the adults 18-49 demographic and 2.8 million total viewers in Live+3. The premiere of FX’s Sons of Anarchy spinoff from Kurt Sutter and Elgin James was the snagged the #1 spot in primetime cable programming in all key adult and men demos.

Audiences were excited to see the return of the series as it revved its engines to net 4.3 million total viewers across all linear and non-linear platforms. Halloween is filled with with sugarcoated frights, but throughout history, the night before the big “31” on the calendar has featured more tricks than treats. Blumhouse Productions is looking to bring the chaos of Halloween Eve to the big screen with a new film they are developing that is appropriately titled Devil’s Night.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Devil’s Night is in development at Blumhouse, with Blum and Bobbi Sue Luther producing the new holiday horror film written by Sean Tretta (12 Monkeys TV series, Hunters). Ryan Turek will supervise the movie on its journey through development.

A director has not officially been named at this time, but it’s worth noting that Tretta has previously helmed five feature-length horror films (including Death of a Ghost Hunter and The Prometheus Project). Tretta also directed the short film M is for Matchmaker, which was created as an official entry for ABCs of Death 2...

Stuber

Fox has acquired Tripper Clancy's action comedy spec script "Stuber" which follows one harrowing night in the life of an Uber driver named Stu. "Vacation" reboot writer/directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley worked with Tripper to develop the script which the pair will produce. [Source: Deadline]

Devil's Night

Blumhouse Productions have set up the micro-budget horror film "Devil's Night" which Jason Blum and Bobbi Sue Luther will produce. Sean Tretta ("12 Monkeys") penned the script which is set on the night before Halloween, a night with a tradition of youth causing mischief.

Though it has existed since the 1930s, at a point in the 1980s in inner city places like Detroit, the crimes became more destructive - moving up to the likes of arson and vandalism. Ryan Turek will oversee the project for Blumhouse. [Source: Heat Vision]

Actor Jeff Goldblum was recently asked by Fandango about whether he'd ever consider returning to series.

Just like they did back in 2011 with the first ABCs of Death, Magnet Releasing, Timpson Films and Drafthouse Films recently put together a competition designed to find the 26th director for the upcoming sequel ABCs of Death 2. Well-known as well as up-and-coming horror filmmakers were each given a letter of the alphabet and tasked with making a short film centering around a word that begins with that letter, with fans encouraged to submit their own films for the unclaimed letter M.

Since the launch of the contest in August, well over 500 short films were submitted from over 40 different countries, and the top twelve finalists have just been announced – six were decided by a jury while the other six made the cut based on votes from other fans.

We’ve compiled all twelve of the shorts for you below, which should only take you about a half an hour to get through.

The original ABCs of Death, comprised of 26 alphabet-themed ways to die from the biggest names in horror, invited any and all indie filmmakers from around the world to submit their own T-themed deaths – with one exceptional entry being chosen to appear in the final film. Time and money and a cast prevented me from making my own ABCs of Death 2 short (called “M is for Money”), but it didn’t stop hundreds of others from submitting their take on the letter “M” to the horror anthology produced by Ant Timpson, Tim League, and Magnet Releasing.

It may be Monday, but demons still want to party, and as producer Kevin Tenney told us this morning, they're preparing to do so in a splatter-filled sequel to the 2009 remake of his 1988 cult classic Night of the Demons. Read on for more!

"It’s been too long since something unspeakable has happened with a tube of lipstick," said Tenney (pictured), "and I think it’s time to change that with Night of the Demons: After-Party, which will be the funniest, bloodiest, nastiest Night of the Demons yet."

Joining producer Tenney for the sequel will be director Anthony Hickox (Waxwork, Hellraiser 3), who will direct from a script by Sean Tretta (Death of a Ghost Hunter, The Prometheus Project), and actress/horror veteran Tiffany Shepis, who will star. Group of scientists discover a method of reanimating the dead through stem cell research that results in a gunshot victim being brought back to life, but things go awry as he takes on violent tendencies.

Muddled, though intriguing film introduces Tiffany Shepis as the narrator and lead character of the film. However, her character isn't as instrumental to the story as some of the other characters and she ends up fading into the background for most of the second half. Still, she turns in one of the best performances of her career, to date. The story charts into standard stalk and slash in the last act. And the overall story doesn't feel complete.

You can’t blame Tiffany Shepis (Trade In) for trying to make create some more interesting work for herself as she does here, where she’s credited as one of four producers and cast as a genetic scientist. (Not that she’s hurting for work—the IMDb shows she’s signed on for 22 more films after this one in 2010.) But our favorite B-Actress could do better than a film that 1) requires her to wear a mask for many scenes, and 2) has a little bit more coherency, tension, drama, suspense . . . you know, stuff that keeps a viewer interested.

The tale of Prometheus is one of epic Greek proportions. Consisting of three dramas, one about the Titan's heroic refusal to submit to Zeus' rule, the other of Zeus' realization to develop maturity and the last, perhaps lost to time, probably about his reconciliation with the rebel god Prometheus. The poet Hesiod was the first to develop this myth and portions of it can be found in Mary Shelley's seminal ghost story, Frankenstein.

In her tale, she reveals how Dr. Frankenstein is playing with fire. He is playing god by giving life to where it ceased to exist, and that ultimately destroys him. The monster he creates is a dodgy figure but by that story’s end, it reveals itself to a god-fearing sailor and demonstrates remorse when the rugged doctor finally dies.

The Frankenstein Syndrome is a film based on the Mary Shelley story we all know. In this case though, we get a modern day horror tale that is also very original in its own right.

Writer and director Sean Tretta has put together a unique vision. This is still very much a Frankenstein story, it just has new characters to play with like Dr. Elizabeth Barnes ( Tiffany Shepis) who we see in the very beginning running from something and then the movie fast forwards to her wearing a mask and wheel chair bound being interrogated by investigators. This is where her story begins.
