As of late, the name Karen has been synonymous with entitlement, bigotry and “I want to speak to a manager” energy. What better way to explore this phenomenon than with a suspense thriller appropriately titled Karen starring Taryn Manning as the titular touchstone of privilege?
The Orange Is The New Black alum is set to play Karen White (a suitable name) who believes that races should stick to their “own kind”. She carries this belief into her neighborhood. So when her new Black neighbors Assata and Malik move in, she makes it her personal mission to remove them from the neighborhood, by any means necessary. However, Assata and Malik don’t have time for this. As cardholding Black Lives Matter members they aren’t going down without a fight.

After an announcement that took fans by surprise, its been fairly quiet on the Jem and the Holograms front. Today, we get the official release date for this live-action adaptation of the popular animated series and Hasbro toy line, which has caused some controversy amongst fans for deviating from the core mythology.
While not a horror film, Jem and the Holograms will be arriving in theaters on October 23rd, 2015, from Universal Pictures, just in time for Halloween. Which adheres to producer Jason Blum's core aesthetic. Is he aiming for another annual Halloween midnight tradition in the vein of The Rocky Horror Picture Show?
Directed by Jon M. Chu, who helmed the sequel G.I. Joe Retaliation for Hasbro and Paramount, Jem and the Holograms is being produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse productions. He's gained a reputation for delivering movies on the cheap that bring in big bucks at the box office.

We know, it’s truly outrageous that we really haven’t covered the upcoming adaptation of “Jem And The Holograms.” An American animated television series that ran in the mid ‘80s starting in 1985, the cartoon followed music company owner Jerrica Benton, her singer alter-ego Jem, her band the Holograms, and their adventures. The show was to girls what the animated 1980s “G.I. Joe” and “Transformers” series were to boys (and frankly this writer watched all three, though Jem not that long after the first year). But other than the fact that Jon M. Chu is directing and that it means the third “G.I. Joe” movie is either going to wait or go to another filmmaker, the film version of “Jem And The Holograms” hasn’t been that exciting beyond the fact it will eventually exist. Plus the cast is mostly full of relative unknowns like Aubrey Peeples, Ryan Guzman, Stefanie Scott,...

Is Jem and the Holograms building a badass cast line-up for The Misfits? While The Hologram's nemesis band was the same age as Jem and her orphan friends on the animated TV series, its possible that they will be portrayed by a group of has been rockers in this new iteration, as Molly Ringwald joins the cast for yet another mysterious role that is being kept a secret.
Yesterday, it was announced that Juliette Lewis had joined this adaptation of the popular Hasbro cartoon and toy line from the 80s. Her role is being kept a secret as well, and it was speculated that she may be playing Jem's artificially intelligent fairy godmother/hologram, Synergy. That is looking less likely with Molly Ringwald now coming on board. Both are a perfect fit for The Misfits, an evil Riot Girl band lead by Phyllis "Pizzazz" Gabor, a spoiled child living off...
