Filmmaker, editor and songwriter Josh Rifkin moves audiences with a unique combination of artistry, skill and lifelong experience.
Honing his talents as a Philadelphia teen with a series of "Bloodbag Movies" (so named after learning to craft a "blood" squirting squib from household materials) and winning a regional television contest for filmmakers, Josh soon became a sought-after videographer while still in high school. He hired friends for crew, spending weekends documenting weddings, bar mitzvahs and anniversaries. Furthering his craft at York University, Josh directed his thesis documentary My Way, which told the story of his family's immigrant history and earned success at various film festivals.
Josh began his professional musical journey in Toronto with his college band Mumblin' Jim. Traveling west, the group proved its popularity on the San Francisco club circuit and was soon signed to Island Records and released the album The Rainbow Connection. Later, Josh's work as a Los Angeles solo performer led to demand as a songwriter, contributing original songs to soundtracks as diverse as The Mindy Project, Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, Army Wives and the John Singleton crime thriller Four Brothers.
Josh's skill as a film and TV editor can be seen in the acclaimed Veronica Mars reboot for Hulu, The Really Loud House for Nickelodeon/ Paramount and the hit series Foursome for YouTube Originals. In features, Josh has edited Not Easily Broken (Sony Pictures), Catacombs (Lionsgate) and the multiple-award-winning Snapshots with Piper Laurie. Additional feature editing experience includes Edward Norton's Down in the Valley and Ira & Abby with Jennifer Westfeldt.
Josh lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter.
