Travis Fimmel and Toby Kebbell in Warcraft : Le Commencement (2016)
Can Michael Fassbender and Duncan Jones redeem the video game movie?
Travis Fimmel and Toby Kebbell in Warcraft : Le Commencement (2016)
Not content with giving Shakespeare a "grimdark" makeover in the forthcoming Macbeth, for his next trick Michael Fassbender will attempt to redeem that most derided of genres – the video game movie. As star and co-producer of a big screen adaptation of Ubisoft's stab-happy Assassin's Creed franchise, Fassbender is going where few A-listers have previously ventured. Can he bring credibility to this most scorned of cinematic sub-species?

It may comfort Fassbender to know he doesn't walk into the (uncanny) valley of potential professional suicide alone. By the time Fassassin's Creed (as we're calling it) reaches screens circa December 2016 the world will already have passed judgment on Moon director Duncan Jones's Warcraft, a $100 million plus riff on popular Mmorpg World Of Warcraft. That's two A-list video game adaptations within a year – a state of affairs unimaginable ever since the crash and burn of the Bob Hoskins-fronted $50 million dud Super Mario...

The top 50 80s kids' TV themes
From Bananaman to Grange Hill, join us in a spot of TV nostalgia as we celebrate 50 great 1980s kids' TV theme songs...

There comes a time to turn away from the horrors of the world and retreat underneath the soft, comforting duvet of nostalgia. That time is Friday. That metaphorical duvet is below.

Here are fifty of the best kids’ TV theme songs (spread over two pages and in arbitrary order) of the 1980s. Some, like Alan Hawkshaw’s distinctive Grange Hill intro, are unarguable classics of the era, while others, like Mike Harding's Count Duckula, only started in the late-eighties and spent the rest of their run in the next decade.

Obviously, there being only 50 on this list, we may have missed out your favourite (deliberately or otherwise). Let us know if so, but remember that links may take a while to appear in the comments thread because...

Here's how Twitter reacted to Chris Evans's bonkers revival of Tfi Friday
It's all over bar the shouting now, as the heavily-hyped return of Tfi Friday finally hit screens tonight (June 12).

Chris Evans put together a true spectacle, jam-packed with Liam Gallagher and Blur returning as the kings of Britpop, Shaun Ryder trying to keep his mouth shut and Jeremy Clarkson bickering with Evans over the Top Gear succession.

How The 'New Moon' Soundtrack Stacks Up Against Our Favorites: The Newsroom Poll
Welcome to the weekly Newsroom Poll, where we will give you a sneak peek into the lives and minds of some of the correspondents, writers, editors and producers here at MTVNews.com. Every week, they'll answer a poll question that will reveal some of what we talk about behind the scenes here in the newsroom. Enjoy!
