Plot: A glimpse into the life of the wealthy and devout Eden family, who enjoy helping people get bloody vengeance at their “eye for an eye” parties.
Review: Director Marcel Walz and screenwriter Joe Knetter have collaborated multiple times over the years, and the results that viewers have seen so far have been stalker / slasher movies that were soaked in colorful lighting: Blind, its sequel Pretty Boy, and That’s a Wrap. Now, Walz and Knetter are back with a horror movie with a very different style and approach. Their latest collaboration, Garden of Eden, does still have its colorful moments, but the fun slasher tone has been set aside. Instead, this movie comes off like a relentless assault on each and every viewer, as it goes hard in its attempt to be as dark, disturbing, and disgusting as possible.

Directed by Marcel Walz, Garden of Eden is now available on VOD, Blu-ray, and DVD, and we caught up with Sarah Nicklin for our latest Q&a to talk about her role in the new religious horror film:
When you're evaluating potential roles, what do you look for in a film's story and the character you want to play? And what did you enjoy about Garden of Eden when you first heard about it?
Sarah Nicklin: Even with a good script or great character I want to play, a film or set experience can end up being a disaster - or a mediocre script with a seemingly boring role can create a great film that helps your career. So I've given up on trying to decide to do something based on if I think it's gonna be good or fulfilling or not. I've created 4 criteria for if I'll take a...

Three years ago, it was announced that Nikyatu Jusu, who had just made her feature directorial debut with the horror film Nanny, would be directing a sequel to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead (watch it Here), with MGM acquiring the worldwide distribution rights and planning a theatrical release for the film. That was the last we heard of it… and now it has been confirmed that the project is “currently in limbo.”
This Night of the Living Dead sequel was coming to us from Romero’s ex-wife Christine Romero, the late George A. Romero’s Sanibel Films, Origin Story, Vertigo, and Westbrook Studios. Romero is the creative overseer on the project, producing alongside Village Roadshow’s Jillian Apfelbaum, Nic Gordon, and Tristen Tuckfeld, Origin Story’s Ryan Silbert, Vertigo’s Andrew Childs, Westbrook Studios’ Jon Mone and Ryan Shimazaki, and Sanibel Films’ Tina Romero, who...

Viewer discretion is advised before watching not one, not two, but three exclusive clips from Garden of Eden — they contain graphic content that some may find disturbing.
Described as “‘American Horror Story‘ if it had a kinky and debaucherous fetish filled three-way with Martyrs and Hostel in a church pew,” the film hits digital this Friday, June 20, via Gravitas Ventures.
“After reading one specific scene in Garden of Eden, I knew that taking this role came along with a responsibility,” actress Gigi Gustin (The Retaliators), who appears in the first clip, tells Bloody Disgusting.
“In order to serve the story, I was going to have to be the most vulnerable I’ve ever been on screen before. I was going to have to go places emotionally that were uncomfortable, even for me, someone who’s very used to tapping into darkness for the sake of the character and the story,...

Cinephobia Releasing has unleashed the first look at Brute 1976, a sun-scorched slasher drenched in 1970s grit, arriving on digital and VOD platforms from 26 August. Written by Joe Knetter and directed by Marcel Walz, the film is a tribute to the dirt-caked brutality of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes, while introducing its own depraved twist on the classic desert-horror formula.
Set in the titular year, the film begins with Raquel and her girlfriend stranded on a desolate road after their car breaks down in unforgiving terrain. Nearby, a separate group embarks on a fashion photoshoot, oblivious to the horrors that await. Both parties are drawn to an abandoned town, seemingly forgotten by time, but inhabited by a violent and secretive clan. What follows is a collision of blood, panic and survival as the group face the Birdy family, a masked brood of killers who make their...

Garden of Eden will be unleashed digitally on June 20 via Gravitas Ventures, with a Blu-ray and DVD release to follow.
Pray for your sins with Bloody Disgusting’s exclusive first look at the gory film’s trailer and posters below.
The press release eloquently describes the movie: “Think ‘American Horror Story‘ if it had a kinky and debaucherous fetish filled three-way with Martyrs and Hostel in a church pew.”
The Eden family are devout Christians who do everything they can to live the word of God and set an example of what is right and wrong. They have been very successful in business and are rich beyond their needs. In order to give back, the family throws garden parties. Each guest that is lucky enough to find a key at the party gets to have their most wished for dream come true. But a dream for some can be a nightmare for others.

Exclusive: Bill Kaulitz has swapped the concert stage for the big screen by landing his first film role.
The Tokio Hotel frontman, whose band is among Germany’s most successful music acts, has landed a role in Brute 1986, an indie pic inspired by 1980s slasher movies.
In the film, Leather Kobra, a Sunset Strip-style glam metal band films a music video in an abandoned Western town in the middle of nowhere. Ignoring ‘no trespassing’ signs, the rebellious group have no idea they are being watched by the Birdy family, who will meet them with a “level of brutality that is as vicious as it is creative,” according to producers.

If we’re putting Alfred Hitchcock, who was a genius in every aspect and one of the best and most important filmmakers of all time, aside, the first major horror director who influenced the genre in a major way was the legendary George A. Romero, whose 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead is still considered to be a classic of cinema in general.

The legendary George A. Romero will bring us his final Zombie movie... from beyond the grave!
The filmmaker passed away in 2017 after a battle with lung cancer, but he had been working on a script for what was to be the conclusion of a saga that began all the way back in 1968 with low-budget classic, Night of the Living Dead.
Back in 2021, we got word that Twilight of the Dead was officially in the works with Brad Anderson set to direct, and the movie has now cast its leads.
Deadline reports that Milla Jovovich - who is no stranger to dealing with the undead after headlining the Resident Evil franchise - and Upgrade star Betty Gabriel have joined the project. No details on their roles were provided.
Anderson explained: “I see this film in the same way as successful post-apocalyptic thrillers such as I Am Legend, A Quiet Place, The Road...

After leading a series of films for the Resident Evil franchise, Milla Jovovich will be revisiting the world of zombie horror. She's one of two casting additions revealed for Twilight of the Dead, a new film set in George A. Romero's Living Dead franchise.
Per Deadline, Jovovich and Betty Gabriel (Get Out) have officially joined the cast of Twilight of the Dead. The film is considered to be the "seventh and final installment" of Romero's movie series that began with 1969's Night of the Living Dead. While it will be directed by Brad Anderson, Twilight of the Dead was developed using a treatment for a planned film co-written by Romero before his passing in 2017. Romero's estate has partnered up with Roundtable to finance the project, which will be presented at the American Film Market by Fortitude International this month. Production is planned to begin in March 2025.

Before he passed away in 2017, horror master George A. Romero had been developing one final zombie movie titled Twilight of the Dead. The film is coming to life with Brad Anderson (Session 9, The Machinist, Blood), and Deadline reports that the zombie film has found its leads in Resident Evil star Milla Jovovich and Upgrade‘s Betty Gabriel.
The George A. Romero estate is teaming up with LA-based financier-producer Roundtable on Twilight of the Dead, being positioned as the “final installment” in Romero’s ‘Dead’ franchise. The original treatment for the planned project was penned by Romero himself, but Joe Knetter, Robert Lucas, and Paolo Zelati tackled the actual screenplay.

Exclusive: Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil) and Betty Gabriel (Get Out) have been set to star in Twilight of the Dead, the next feature from The Call and The Machinist director Brad Anderson.
The George A. Romero estate is teaming up with L.A.-based financier-producer Roundtable on the “seventh and final installment” of the seminal Living Dead franchise. Horror icon Romero had written a treatment for the movie before he died in 2017 and he regarded Twilight of the Dead as the conclusion to his epic saga, which comprised six movies and various spinoffs and remakes.
Fortitude International will present the project at next week’s American Film Market, with production being lined up for March.
Set on a tropical island, we’re told Twilight of the Dead will “delve into the dark nature of humanity from the perspective of the last humans on Earth who are caught between factions of the undead.

12 to Midnight stars Charles Bronson lookalike Robert Bronzi and a title that sounds like Bronson’s film 10 to Midnight. The film even opens with Detective Toth (Robert Bronzi) walking in on, and bloodily dispatching, a couple of armed robbers who are standing between him and his beer. “You look familiar,” the shaken cashier tells him. “I get that a lot”. But, more importantly, it has something Bronson never had to deal with, a werewolf.
Unfortunately for Toth, he was off duty and already reeking of booze at the time of the incident, so instead of a commendation, he gets suspended by Captain Rhodes. He tells him to get his shit together so he won’t have to make it permanent,...

Space Wars: Quest for the Deepstar very much wants to be one of the plethora of low-budget 1970s knock offs of Star Wars riding the comet tail of that phenomenon. It’s just not bad enough to be lumped in with Bartle Beyond the Stars or the 3-D mess of Spacehunters. Nor is it good enough to be a thoughtful low-budget meditation on the soul. It falls in between and is quickly forgotten the moment you turn off the DVD of the 2022 release, out now from Uncork’d Entertainment.
Late in the 30th century, mankind has somehow managed to survive the contemporary mess we’ve made of ourselves and has even managed to find a way to preserve the human soul, reducing it to a blue goo. The catch is that it’s expensive, so only the top 1% of the 1% can afford it, although starship captain Kip Corman (Michael Paré), a scavenger eking out a living,...

George A. Romero, horror legend and father of the modern zombie movie, passed away in 2017. At the time of his death, he was developing the next installment in his "Dead" series: a film called "Twilight of the Dead," for which he had written a treatment with journalist and film critic Paolo Zelati. In 2021, we learned that "Twilight of the Dead" was in active development, with Romero's widow, Suzanne Romero, meeting with filmmakers to find the right director for what is being billed as George Romero's "final zombie movie."
Now, the filmmaker who will take on that daunting duty has been found. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Brad Anderson will direct the movie from a script co-written by Zelati, Joe Knetter, and Robert Lucas. Anderson's previous directing credits are primarily horror movies and psychological thrillers, with his best-known work being a combination of the two genres: "Session 9," a...

"This, too, is a zombie movie in which limbs fly and heads roll, but one that is also about social transformation, one that asks the question: What is it to be human? “Shooting is expected to start later this year,” THR notes in their exclusive report.

Plot: When filmmaker Mason Maestro throws a private party after production wraps on his new slasher flick, someone dressed like the killer in the movie starts knocking off the partiers one-by-one.
