Klaudia Kovacs
Klaudia Kovacs is the daughter of Olympic swimmer, Eva Erdelyi, and a distant relative of Zoltan Latinovits, the Hungarian Laurence Olivier.

Film and Theater Director, Klaudia Kovacs' most well-known work is her eight-time-award-winning, Oscar contender, epic documentary, Torn from the Flag. The film is about the Cold War, the decline of communism, and the 1956 Hungarian Freedom Fight that was a remarkable turning point for the advancement of democracy. According to several critics and historians, Torn from the Flag is "the best film" ever made about this topic, and the European press declared the movie to be "Hungary's most successful documentary."

Klaudia Kovacs made her film with Oscar-winning cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond and legendary cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs. The following political notables appear in the movie: Mikhail Gorbachev, Ronald Reagan, Henry Kissinger, Otto von Habsburg, and George Vassiliou.

The premiere was in Hollywood, in the American Film Institute's film festival, AFI Fest. It was screened in the "Milestones" section-described as "celebrating the best of the best" along with films by Ingmar Bergman and Michelangelo Antonioni. Tickets for the premiere sold out in 45 minutes, and the documentary received a standing ovation.

The feature-length documentary was selected by 5 Academy Award-qualifying festivals:
  • AFI Fest
  • Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF)
  • International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography Camerimage
  • Atlanta Film Festival (ATLFF)
  • RiverRun International Film Festival.

Klaudia Kovacs also worked on the five time award-winning, feature-length film, Panic Nation. The movie examines state sponsored immigration laws vs. federal immigration laws. It features former White House cabinet member Henry Cisneros, two-time Harvard graduate and syndicated CNN columnist Ruben Navarrette Jr., multi-award-winning writer of "Sesame Street" Luis Santeiro, and multi-award-winning actor Esai Morales.

As a writer, Klaudia Kovacs has authored a biographical book, co-authored three volumes, and as a journalist penned close to 200 articles. Her books were ordered by 400 libraries around the globe.

For her work in film, Klaudia Kovacs received the Hero of the Freedom Fight Award by the President and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary.
