Fox News Media says its prime-time commentator Sean Hannity will launch a long-form interview series on the streaming platform Fox Nation.

The show, called “Sean,” promises to feature conversations with leading figures in the worlds of sports, entertainment and politics.

The first episode debuts on Fox Nation this week, with a conversation between Hannity, actor Sylvester Stallone and model Jennifer Flavin Stallone. Forthcoming episodes will include conversations with ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith and celebrity fitness trainer Jillian Michaels.

Donald Trump had the spotlight all to himself at the Al Smith Dinner on Thursday, as he made made jokes about immigrants, transgender Americans and his political rivals at the event that is an election-year tradition.

Daredevil: Born Again is one of the most highly anticipated upcoming projects. The series will feature Charlie Cox reprising his role as Daredevil, along with much of the original cast from Netflix’s Daredevil.

Currently, details about the show’s plot remain scarce. However, it has been confirmed that Vincent D’Onofrio will return as Kingpin, this time serving as the Mayor of New York, a development hinted at in the post-credit scenes of Echo.

Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen and Elden Henson’s Foggy are also set to return, alongside Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. We know that Mayor Kingpin will wage war against vigilantes and street-level heroes, and there’s a looming threat from the villain Muse, whom Daredevil will ultimately confront.

Recently, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of Television, made some intriguing comments about the series. He suggested that the show bears more resemblance to Game of Thrones than we might have expected.

Mayor Eric Adams (D-New York) has expressed his desire to end the city’s sanctuary city policy and suggests that migrants “suspected” of major crimes should be handed over to federal immigration officials.

The city of New York is nearing a settlement to pay $13.7 million as part of a class action lawsuit brought forth by nearly 1,400 people involved in the George Floyd protests.

The settlement, filed Wednesday in a Manhattan federal court and pending a judge’s approval, would pay roughly $9,950 apiece to 1,380 protestors who “were arrested and/or subjected to force by NYPD officers” and had their First Amendment rights suppressed in late May and early June 2020.

The New York Police Department’s violent tactics during the 2020 protests against police violence and racial injustice could cost New York City and its taxpayers between $4 and $6 million thanks to a new settlement.

New York City has agreed to pay $21,500 each to the approximately 300 people who were arrested June 4, 2020 while demonstrating in the Bronx. Those who were given Desk Appearance Tickets instead of summonses, and were thus detained longer, will be eligible for an additional $2,500. New York City has rolled back its strictest anti-Covid measures, including vaccine mandates for indoor spaces.

Also, public school children from kindergarten through 12th grade no longer will be required to wear masks on school grounds, city officials said today.

Mayor Eric Adams announced the changes, which take effect Monday, during a news conference in Times Square. He closed his remarks by saying the momentous decision is “clearly an Arnold Schwarzenegger moment — we’ll be back.”

The choice of location for the news conference was not accidental. The pullback has significant repercussions for movie theaters, Broadway, concert venues and sports arenas, where mask mandates and vaccine requirements have been in place for nearly a year.

Broadway officials said today, however, that masks will be required in those theaters through April.

Gov. Kathy Hochul proposed extending New York State’s film and television production tax credit by three years — through 2029 – in a budget she presented today.

The proposed executive budget plan for fiscal 2023 doesn’t elaborate on the credits – they show up as a line item in a section of chart called ‘Other Key Tax Cuts and Credits.’ Details are being worked on and there could be some new stipulations and requirements.

The program, which provides credits of $420 million per year for film and television productions, currently runs through 2026. It offers a 25% credit for qualified production and post-production costs incurred in-state, with additional credits of up to 10% on labor costs in dozens of counties outside of New York City’s five boroughs.

On Tuesday, the United States recorded 512,553 daily new cases, according to Johns Hopkins University. That is, by far, the single highest daily case number recorded during the entire Covid-19 pandemic. University data indicates that the previous high was 294,015 on January 8, 2021.

One mitigating factor is the Christmas weekend. May testing centers were likely closed over the holiday, meaning some test results that would have been recorded during that period likely rolled over to Monday and today.

But even a measure that accounts for reporting ups and downs, the seven-day average of new daily cases, published by The Washington Post today was a record. The 253,245 cases as of Tuesday afternoon eclipsed the previous 7-day average daily high of 248,209. That was on January 12.

California, the nation’s most populous state, also blasted past its all-time daily record, hitting 86,634 new cases today. That number tops the 60,107 the state saw on January 4 of this year.

“Today…we make history in New York City. We lead the nation with the strongest vaccine mandate anywhere —- private sector vaccine mandate — reaching hundreds of thousands of businesses,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday.

The mandate, which takes effect today, applies to all “workers in New York City who perform in-person work or interact with the public in the course of business,” including contractors. Individual businesses must verify and keep records of workers’ vaccination status.

“Businesses may not allow any unvaccinated workers to come to their workplace,” reads the summary of the order on the city’s web site.

Those working on-site “must show proof they have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. Workers will then have 45 days to show proof of their second dose (for Pfizer or Moderna vaccines).” The mandate includes businesses that operate out of cars, such as ride share services and taxis.

As New York has emerged as an epicenter of a new Covid wave driven by the highly contagious Omicron variant, the city has been gripped by skyrocketing infection rates that have shut down Broadway and have led to the cancellation of most in-person events.

That includes Fox’s New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast 2022. The network earlier this week pulled the plug on the special, noting that, even with strict health protocols, “the recent velocity of the spread of Omicron cases has made it impossible to produce a live special in Times Square that meets our standards.”
