The Native American Media Alliance, in partnership with the Cherokee Nation Film Office and Warner Bros. Discovery Access, has announced the selected fellows for the 2nd Annual Native American Writers Seminar.

“We are proud to continue this incredible program expanding it to ten new fantastic Native American writers,” said Cara Jade Myers, director of outreach for the Native American Media Alliance. “The seminar provides a great access point for our growing development pipeline and will give our writers new opportunities to make headway into their writing career.”

The Native American Writers Seminar is a month-long intensive that develops emerging writers who are new to writing for film and television. This initiative provides new access for Native Americans interested in breaking into writing for film and televi-sion.

C. Thomas Howell has added one more credit to his incredibly busy 2012 slate. Variety reports the omnipresent character actor, who recently wrapped on The Amazing Spider-Man along with five other films expected to come out this year, has just signed on to writer-director Cole Mueller's crime drama Magic Hour. Howell, whose been working as an actor since age 7, joins of cast filled with newcomers and up-and-coming performers that includes: Trevor Morgan, Kris Lemche, Josh Emerson, Courtney Daniels, Kevin McNamara and Mark Alan. Also lined up for Magic Hour is William Russ, who may be best known as the loving father on Boy Meets World. C. Thomas Howell has boarded Busted Buggy Entertainment and Sunside Film's indie crime drama, Magic Hour. The actor will also be seen in upcoming Marvel film, The Amazing Spider-Man.

The indie drama follows a young man who falls in with the local crime family in Venice Beach in the early '90s. Cole Mueller is directing the project. Trevor Morgan, William Russ, Kris Lemche, Josh Emerson,Kevin McNamara and Mark Alan are also attached to the project.

Production on the project is finishing up in late March after shooting in Newport Beach, Huntington Beach and Anaheim.

Empire State

Emma Roberts has signed up for the heist movie "Empire State" at Emmett/Furla Films. Shooting aims to kick off this Spring.

The story follows two childhood friends (one of which is played by Liam Hemsworth) who plan to rob an armoured card depository. Roberts plays a role of a waitress who falls for Liam's character. [Source: The Winnipeg Free Press]

Kelsey Chow (TV's "Pair of Kings," "One Tree Hill") has landed the female lead in Simone Bartesaghi's indie action-thriller "Run.

Production on Pain and Gain should get underway just about any day now, so I’ll bet this casting from Variety is one of the last Michael Bay‘s movie ever gets. (Unless he decides to take a dive in that modeling pool.) With this late-in-the-game addition, we’re hearing that Tony Plana (Ugly Betty, Lone Star) is coming aboard in the role of “Capt. Al Lopez of the Miami Police Dept., who begins to look into the kidnapping of Marc Schiller (Tony Shalhoub) at the urging of his old friend, private detective Ed Du Bois (Ed Harris).” It’s safe to assume you already know this, but — for the sake of consistency — the kidnappers in question are played by Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, and Anthony Mackie.

Nude Alice photos spread around school & more in CW's "Hellcats" episode 10 of season 1. We've got tons of spoilers for the show,along with a promo clip after the jump. The episode is entitled, "Pledging My Love," and things get very heated with Alice when nude photos of her spread around the school,Derrick proposes to Vanessa,and more. In "Pledging My Love" episode,Naked pictures of Alice will get sent around school,humiliating her. Lewis will feel bad for Alice and agrees to help her find the culprit. They eventually discover Damian (guest star Josh Emerson) who is a football player, is the culprit. Alice will vow revenge,and plans to out him after she finds out he's gay.

"It's something so controversial we can't say it on TV," the preview of next week's "Hellcats" says. It is referring to Alice whose compromising picture is sent around school to humiliate her. Lewis feels bad for Alice and agrees to help her find the culprit.

The two discover Damian (guest star Josh Emerson), a football player, is the culprit and she vows revenge and plans to out him after she finds out he is gay. Red and Vanessa hear of her plan and set out to stop her before she does something she will regret.

"Pledging My Love" airs November 17 on The CW. The episode is directed by Debbie Allen who directed several episodes of 1980s TV series "Fame". "She's amazing with a huge capital 'A'," said Robbie Jones who will do a Michael Jackson number. "She changed the game for us out here. She came out here and upped the level ten notches.

Welcome To The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, the most awesome post-modern hot spot for exploitation movie revival, deep in the heart of Texas! A couple of early posters for Dwayne Johnson’s latest, the kiddie comedy “The Tooth Fairy”. What’s it all about? My guess is that Johnson is a uber tough guy with a secret heart of gold, who learns to let go of his steely exterior to appreciate life and what not. A kid is probably involved as well. Once you read the brief plot outline below, the whole thing sounds like a bad South Park episode. In fact, I’m sure I remember they did something about a hockey coach and some ill kids once… A bad deed on the part of a tough minor-league hockey player (Johnson) results in an unusual sentence: He must serve one week as a real-life tooth fairy. Johnson is the fairy. Helping him out are Ashley Judd, Julie Andrews, Billy Crystal, Brandon T. Jackson, Josh Emerson, Alex Ferris, Juno Ruddell, and Stephen Merchant.

Chicago – For Oscar-winning “Juno” writer Diablo Cody, writing “Jennifer’s Body” with “Transformers” star Megan Fox and “Mamma Mia!” star Amanda Seyfried as the two lead women was as much of an out-of-body experience as Charlize Theron’s against-type role in 2003’s “Monster”. The difference? Theron nailed it; Cody bloodied this bold opportunity.

Rating: 1.5/5.0 Since our Nov. 2007 interview with Cody for the Oscar-winning “Juno,” she’s as quick with her wit in person as she is with her pen for the screen.

While an early reading of the “Jennifer’s Body” script showed promise, once it hit the screen Cody’s razor-sharp wit was blunted against the mismatched backdrop of two female leads who couldn’t sell the script and the overarching horror tone that the talented Cody hasn’t yet mastered.

Labor Day weekend is coming up, and it's a holiday that marks the end of the summer movie season along with summer itself. All the kids are heading back to the classroom for another dreaded year of school and (for those in L.A. like myself) the weather starts to cool... hopefully. While fall usually isn't seen as a cinematic hotbed, with the blockbuster summer season over, there are still plenty of quality films to check out at the box office. This year we have Megan Fox's possessed body, a sensational animated film and a new zombie adventure. The idea of Adam Sandler backing a horror film (under his new Scary Madison banner) needn’t automatically be a negative one; after all, funnyman Mel Brooks’ productions have included the modern classic The Fly, the darkly brilliant The Elephant Man and best-selling zombie author Max Brooks. And, as is revealed on the DVD (coming September 29 from Anchor Bay) of Scary Madison’s first feature The Shortcut, Sandler—who doesn’t take an onscreen credit—and co. were all about making it an R-rated feature; it was the financiers who came on board during preproduction who insisted it be watered down for youth-audience consumption.

The result is a movie that feels awkwardly caught between competing ambitions. It dances around dark territory without fully committing, putting an equal emphasis on typical screen-teen behavior; people die, but little onscreen blood is shed. Davis star in this story of a group of teens who dare to take the titular trail. It runs past a scary house with a strange old occupant, and the kids set out to uncover his secrets—to their inevitable regret. It's also pretty fun to see a soundtrack built around a horror film, which doesn't happen all too often these days. Jennifer's Body could have gone either way. Embrace the teen angle and aim for a younger audience with a PG-13 rating or go balls-out with its story about a hot cheerleader (in this case, Megan Fox) that gets possessed and devours boys whole. Thankfully, director Karyn Kusama went the latter route and scored an R rating with the MPAA for "sexuality, bloody violence, language and brief drug use." Rejoice.
