Andrea Ramolo is an award-winning Italian-Canadian filmmaker, a long-time touring and recording artist, actor, dancer, songwriter, and educator. She was the writer, creator, narrator, composer, and executive producer of the documentary film The South which won the 45th Canadian Ethnic Media Award for Best Documentary in 2023. The film had its world premiere at Toronto's ICFF Lavazza Inclucity Film Festival, screened at Toronto's famous Hot Docs/Ted Roger's Cinema, and is currently available on Amazon Prime Italia, VOD platforms, and Fast Channels.
Andrea has also produced and directed a slew of music videos. She recently won her second Canadian Independent Music Video Award as producer/director/editor for Kristin Sweetland's La Vie (aprés la guerre) and won her first of these awards for her own video Free (ft. Kinnie Starr) which she produced and co-directed. Her two short films Baby and A Night Under the Stars in a Parking Lot are currently on the film festival circuit and have garnered her many awards, including Best Female Director, Best Indie Short, Best Debut Short, Best Actress, Best Women's Short, and more.. She is currently working on a documentary on the homeless crisis, a new short film, and is in the creation stage for her first feature film - an Italian-Canadian co-production - that she hopes to film in 2027.
Andrea is also an award-winning musician, hosted her own Italian music radio show, and is the founder and artist director of Our Music Festival in Toronto - a not-for-profit festival that celebrates female and non-binary artists.
