Why Noah Wyle Left NBC's ER
Image
In the very first episode of "ER" — the landmark medical drama created by "Jurassic Park" novelist Michael Crichton — we meet John Carter, an ambitious but obviously overwhelmed third-year medical student played by Noah Wyle. Alongside other original cast members Anthony Edwards, George Clooney, Eriq La Salle, and Sherry Stringfield, just to name a few, Wyle's John helped shape the word of "ER," a gritty, realistic medical show set in Chicago's fictional County General Hospital. Wyle and Carter did leave "ER" full-time in the show's 11th season — though he made cameo appearances as the show drew to a close in its season 15 — but when John Carter finished out his run on the "ER," he became the show's longest-running character.

So why did Wyle leave the show that made him famous? In April 2005, CBS News reported that Wyle would leave the show as a regular but agreed to return for four...

Adam Blackstone Is a Musical Multihyphenate Who Is His Own Competition
Image
It’s 2003 and Jay-Z is planning a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden to celebrate his retirement from music.

But his bass player is unavailable. Adam Blackstone, a jack-of-all-trades who plays bass, drums, piano, organ, tuba and sousaphone — and is also a songwriter, producer, composer and everything else under the musical sun — is more than ready to step in.

Twenty years later, Blackstone, now 40, is still working closely with Jay-Z; both are Emmy winners for last year’s hip-hop-heavy Super Bowl halftime show. And the musician who has helped everyone from Rihanna to Justin Timberlake shine is stepping into his own limelight.

Rihanna performed during the Super Bowl Lvii halftime show in February.

After winning an Emmy in 2022 for music direction, Blackstone is nominated again. This time, however, he’s a double nominee. Not only is he competing for his work on Rihanna’s explosive Super Bowl performance (a nom...

Love Island UK Season 3: Which Couples Are Still Together (And Which Aren't)?
Image
This article contains mentions of suicide.

Love Island UK premiered two seasons in 2023, but what happened to the Love Island UK season 3 couples? Love Island UK season 10 began in June 2023 with new singles and brand-new drama, but it's fun to look back and see how previous casts have fared in the aftermath. Few Love Island couples are still together in 2023, but hope remains.

Since the show's third season in 2017, a lot has changed for the couples who left hand in hand. However, most find love outside the show, and others have proven that not all reality show couples are doomed for tabloid fodder break-ups. Sadly for fans, most of their favorite couples are no more but have found their happily-ever-afters. Even recent Love Island UK season 9 couples have dissipated. However, for fans of Love Island UK season 3, most couples broke up, while one couple got a happy ending.

Scott Caan and Dania Ramirez in Alert (2023)
Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 1 Episode 1 Review: Chloe
Scott Caan and Dania Ramirez in Alert (2023)
Alert: Missing Persons Unit isn't reinventing the wheel with crime procedurals, but it encapsulates the strengths of the best and should find a comfortable home and audience.

By the midway of Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 1 Episode 1, it delivered a solid cast, buoyed by two strong leads with great chemistry in Dania Ramirez and Scott Caan, fascinating premises for cases with supporting characters who compel you to learn more, and an intriguing mystery.

Is the teen they found really Keith? And if so, where has he been this entire time, and why is he back now?

The hour had its moments that were quintessential "pilot-y" and thus unavoidable as it tried to give us an idea of who these characters were and why we should be invested in them. Still, overall, it managed to introduce them to us well.

Ramirez's Nikki is clearly the heart of this series...

Love Island: Where Are The 8 Winning Couples Now?
Image
One of the great things about Love Island is the surprising success rate of its winning couples. For example, season 8 winners, Davide and Ekin-Su, have taken their relationship up a notch since winning the competition in August 2022 by agreeing to live together in Essex.

Unlike Married At First Sight, which has a notoriously high divorce rate, when victorious Love Island couples are given enough time to explore things at their own pace, they often tend to remain together to build a life, plan a future together, and even have children to start a family. As such, it's time to find out where all eight winning couples in show history stand in 2022.

Jess & Max (Season 1)

Despite winning season 1 of the popular reality dating show, Jess Hayes and Max Morley split six weeks after departing the island. Since appearing on Ex On The Beach in 2017, Max has resumed his professional cricket-playing career,...

Love Island: Biker killed in ‘head-on collision’ with Kem Cetinay’s car, inquest hears
Image
A motorcyclist who died after crashing with a car driven by Kem Cetinay was in a “head-on collision” with the Love Island star’s vehicle, an inquest has heard.

Thomas Griggs, 28, died from his injuries 40 minutes after the crash at Shepherds Hill in Romford, on 4 August, East London Coroner’s Court was told.

Cetinay, who won season three of Love Island in 2017, stopped his car at the scene and was not arrested. He has been helping officers with their inquiries as police investigate the circumstances of the incident.

A post-mortem examination found the cause of death to be multiple injuries and blunt-force trauma, coroner Graeme Irvine said.

“It is said the motor vehicle, that was a car, was travelling westbound and the motorcycle was travelling eastbound,” Irvine told the court.

“It is said this was a head-on collision between the two vehicles.”

The coroner added that a “suspect” had been identified by police.

'Sparkle' Brings Back Motown Memories
Whitney Houston, CeeLo Green, Carmen Ejogo, Mike Epps, Derek Luke, Tika Sumpter, and Jordin Sparks in Sparkle (2012)
* Movie about rising music stars in heyday of Motown

* Film depicts a bustling city proud of its music stars

* Residents say mostly accurate in characters, settings

By Eddie B. Allen Jr.

Detroit, Aug 23 (Reuters) - A two-story house on West Grand Boulevard was once a music-makers' paradise, but is now a monument - a museum, really - to a colorful city that, behind new movie "Sparkle", is recalling its past with renewed pride.

The home of Motown Records, which became known as Hitsville USA during the record label's 1960s heyday, looked like many others on its block. But behind its walls, business was anything but usual, and "Sparkle" seems to have captured the magic of the times, city residents told Reuters in recent interviews.

Young men and women, some barely out of their teens, wrote and recorded songs that were the driving force in building the multimillion-dollar label that launched the careers of Michael Jackson,...
