Coal Chamber have canceled their upcoming “Fiend for the Fans Tour” as frontman Dez Fafara continues to look after his health.
The trek had already been postponed last year when Fafara suffered a near-death medical emergency after previously battling long Covid. Fafara was hospitalized at the time, and the tour — initially set for a late-August launch — was moved to Spring 2025. Fear Factory, Twiztid, Black Satellite, and Frayle were set to support.
The outing has now been nixed altogether, and Fafara released a statement informing fans that he’s decided to focus on his health so he can continue to perform with both his bands, Coal Chamber and DevilDriver, in the future. His full statement reads:
“First off let me say that we are sending prayers to all who are affected in these terrible California wildfires. We have many friends on evacuation or that have lost everything please donate or do what you can to help.

Peter Frampton is known for using a talk box onstage, but we’ve never known him to talk out of his ass. However, that’s what Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine is accusing the classic rocker of doing in an exchange of words regarding the cancelation of both acts’ shows at the same venue.
As it was, Megadeth canceled their September 15th gig at the Virginia Credit Union Live! at Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Virginia “due to unexpected and unpredictable circumstances.”

Gwar have just released a 10th anniversary expanded edition of their 2013 album Battle Maximus, with the crown jewel being the track “Tammy, The Swine Queen.” The previously unreleased song features the final recording from the band’s late vocalist Oderus Urungus.
Battle Maximus was the last Gwar album to feature Oderus (aka Dave Brockie), who died in March 2014, six months after the LP’s release.
Regarding the album reissue and the song “Tammy, The Swine Queen,” Gwar’s current singer Blothar the Berseker commented, “Musically, Battle Maximus is a great debut work by [lead guitarist] Pustulus Maximus, and lyrically, it is the final word of lead singer and band founder Oderus Urungus, The record is run through with the desperate, dangerous, and fully bananas imagination of Oderus.”
He continued, “In fact, this re-release includes a song so nutty we named it twice, and then promptly forgot to put it on the record the first time around.

Back in the early 2000s, audiences could treat themselves to a near-endless array of middlebrow, high-concept films every week. Pitch Black (2000), Reign of Fire (2002), Ghost Ship (2002), and every Final Destination film are just a handful of the offerings released during this era – some of which hold a special place in fans’ hearts. Whether it was a man with an ocular transplant fighting nocturnal aliens on a faraway world, or a bearded Matthew McConaughey jumping into the maw of a marauding dragon, it was easy to take for granted the embarrassment of riches at our collective moviegoing fingertips. Above all, these films presented an opportunity to set your mind to a low-thought mode and just enjoy the images unfurling in front of you in an endless stream of violent bliss.

Us measly Bohabs could never have expected this: Gwar taking over NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series.
Well, it happened, and it was as absurdly awesome as it sounds. The Scumdogs crammed into the crowded confines of the NPR office for a four-song set including the songs “Sex Cow,” “I’ll Be Your Monster,” “Ratcatcher,” and “Phantom Limb.”
The idea was partly conceived via a headline on a parody news website The Hard Times that read: “Gwar asks NPR’s Tiny Desk Staff if They’re Ready to Get Their Assholes Ripped Open.” As it turns out, the NPR staff had already approached Gwar about that very idea.
“My text messages suddenly blew up,” wrote NPR’s Lars Gotrich in the video description. “Is this real? No, it’s literally fake. Can this be real? Little did they know I’d already been talking to one of the group’s...

Gwar are revisiting their 2013 album Battle Maximus with a new 10th anniversary expanded reissue. A remixed and remastered version of the track “Falling” can be heard now ahead of the reissue’s September 1st release date.
Battle Maximus stands as the final Gwar album to feature late band mastermind Dave Brockie, aka Oderus Urungus, and the 10th anniversary edition features his final vocal performance on the previously unreleased bonus track “Tammy, the Swine King.”
“Ten years after its initial release, the wounds are just as fresh,” commented guitarist BälSäc, the Jaws ‘o Death. “The words that Oderus wrote as a tribute to his fallen Scumdog brother, Flattus Maximus, gain new meaning when heard as the final lyrics he would ever sing. The songs echo in stereo through the twin holes that were left in our hearts by the absence of Oderus and Flattus. This new remix of Battle Maximus breathes...

Dez Fafara, frontman of the bands DevilDriver and Coal Chamber, has revealed that he currently is unable to tour overseas because of heart problems that arose from his 2021 battle with Covid.
DevilDriver are currently touring the States with Cradle of Filth, and Coal Chamber were recently announced as direct support on Mudvayne’s summer 2023 outing. While Dez has been cleared to play stateside gigs, he can’t get on a flight anytime soon.
The singer revealed his condition as DevilDriver pulled out of the UK’s Bloodstock Open Air festival, explaining as follows:
“In 2021, I came down with Covid which left me with heart problems. I had to live downstairs in my house, as I could barely walk more than a few feet without collapsing. I, in fact was saying goodbye to my family at the time and didn’t think I would pull through.
I took 2022 off and very...

The hell raising fury of heavy metal and the calming delicacy of jigsaw puzzling seem like two aspects of life that have no business ever crossing paths. Multi platinum selling metal act Slipknot, however, disagree. In fact, the nine piece Iowan band are gearing up to release their own collection of new jigsaw puzzles depicting the cover art for their first three albums via the company Zee Productions as part of their 'Rock Saw' range.

Finders keepers. Any abandoned ship floating in international waters can be claimed and towed to port by whomever is fortunate enough to find it. Or, in the case of one team of salvage experts, unfortunate enough.
In this stylish, effects-packed chiller from Dark Castle Entertainment, salvagers trained for any situation imaginable come face to horrifying face with the unimaginable after boarding a derelict luxury liner. Julianna Margulies, Gabriel Byrne, Ron Eldard and Isaiah Washington are among the hands on deck who'll confront a seafaring collector of souls. Vinnie Paul, drummer for Pantera, Damageplan and Hellyeah, has died at the age of 54, according to his label and a post on Pantera’s Facebook page. No cause of death was disclosed.
Paul, whose real name was Vincent Paul Abbott, was born in Abilene, Texas and co-founded Pantera in 1981 with his brother, “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott. The group spent several years as a pop-leaning metal outfit before joining forces with singer Phil Anselmo and adopting a heavier direction — dubbed “power groove” by the band — late in the decade. The sound caught on, they signed with Atlantic subsidiary Atco and released their “Cowboys From Hell” album in 1990. Their popularity rose through tours with Suicidal Tendencies and later Judas Priest, and they performed in Moscow with Metallica and AC/DC in 1991. Pantera quickly became one of the most vital hard-rock acts of the decade, via the albums “Vulgar Display of Power” (a title adopted...
