The series stars Jonah Hauer-King and Anna Prchniak as lovers who meet amid the soul-crushing terror and uncertainty of Auschwitz, and Jonas Nay as one of the cruel Nazis at the concentration camp. Ahead of the premiere, I had the opportunity to speak with series director Tali Shalom-Ezer and Claire Mundell, who secured the rights for the book back in 2018, before going on to executive produce the series.

Since his breakthrough when he was cast as Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid, Hauer-King has rapidly made a name for himself in the film industry, and his upcoming roles continue to demonstrate his range, from historical figures to modern-day villains. In a recent interview with Collider's Maggie Lovitt, Hauer-King shared some new details about his role in the upcoming high-concept comedy, Rich Flu. The conversation took place during the promotion of his latest project, The Tattooist of Auschwitz on Peacock, in which he stars alongside Melanie Lynskey, Anna Prchniak, Jonas Nay and Harvey Keitel.

Barbra Streisand has announced her first-ever recording for a television series. The song “Love Will Survive” is the end title for the upcoming Sky and Peacock original series, The Tattooist of Auschwitz.

Marking her first ever recording for a TV series, Streisand has performed the end title anthem for the series about two young Jewish prisoners in the Nazi concentration camp who fall in love and commit themselves to survive the Holocaust together.

Hans Zimmer and Kara Talve composed the original song for the limited series that stars Harvey Keitel, Melanie Lynskey, Jonah Hauer-King, Anna Próchniak and Jonas Nay, and which Streisand recorded to in part recall the memory of the Holocaust and the specter of antisemitism resurfacing again.

Exclusive: Sherlock star Mark Gatiss is writing and starring in a British TV drama about a bookshop owner who helps police solve crimes.

Bookish will be a six-part series for UKTV crime drama network Alibi set in post-war London in 1946. Gatiss, the co-creator of BBC shows such as Sherlock and The League of Gentlemen and Netflix/BBC’s Dracula and actor in films including Operation Mincemeat and Mission Impossible — Dead Reckoning, is the creator.

The series will follow Gabriel Book (Gatiss), an “erudite and unconventional” sleuth who cracks mysterious cases from his antiquated bookshop, using the thousands of books that line his shelves to provide him with the knowledge that he needs. Around him are a gathering of “loveable, damaged misfits who he informally protects, cajoles and mentors.”

Exclusive: German Films, the agency that promotes German cinema globally, has unveiled the seven participants for the ninth edition of its annual Face to Face campaign, which include talents who have worked on projects ranging from television series such as Deutschland ‘89 and Kafka to feature film Turning Tables.

This year’s edition, which is dubbed Face to Face with German Films – The Filmmakers, will showcase seven filmmakers who have made a lasting impact on the German film industry with their creative and artistic work. The initiative is considered a prominent platform for showcasing German talent to the international film and television worlds.

The participants this year are: actor Jan Bülow; writer and director Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay; actor Banafshe Hourmazdi; writer-director Moritz Müller-Preißer; production designer Mona Cathleen Otterbach; writer-director Eva Trobisch; and writer-director Soleen Yusef.

Sky has released a set of first-look images from ‘The Tattooist of Auschwitz,’ featuring Harvey Keitel.

The six-part series is based on the international bestselling novel by Heather Morris. It is inspired by the real-life story of Lali and Gita Sokolov, who met while prisoners in Auschwitz-Birkenau during the Holocaust.

A star-studded cast leads the way for Peacock‘s upcoming original drama series, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, based on the international best-selling novel of the same name by Heather Morris. Inspired by the real-life story of Lali and Gita Sokolov, who met while prisoners in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp during the Holocaust, the series stars Academy Award nominee Harvey Keitel (The Irishman), Emmy Award nominee Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets), Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid), Anna Próchniak (Baptiste), and Jonas Nay (Deutschland 89). The series, which also features a score from multi-time Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and Kara Talve, is set to premiere on Thursday, May 2, 2024, with all six episodes available to stream on Peacock. Peacock has released some first-look photos from the series, which show Keitel as holocaust survivor Lali Sokolov and Lynskey as author Heather Morris, who met with Lali for three years until his death in 2006 to hear his story.

Peacock has set May 2 as the premiere date for The Tattooist of Auschwitz, the streamer’s original limited series based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Heather Morris. Peacock announced Wednesday that Harvey Keitel will be joining the cast in the lead role of modern-day Lale Sokolov.

Recently widowed, Sokolov finds the courage to tell the world his story as he faces the traumatic ghosts of his youth. Anna Próchniak and Jonas Nay also star. Production is underway on “The Tattooist of Auschwitz.” “Yellowjackets” Emmy nominee Melanie Lynskey is set to play the book’s real-life author, Heather Morris, and Jonah Hauer-King of the upcoming “Little Mermaid” remake has been cast as the title character, Lale Sokolov. The period drama hails from Sky and Peacock, which announced the casting news Thursday.

Sokolova was a Jewish prisoner who was given the job of tattooing identification numbers on fellow prisoners’ arms in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp during World War II. Morris wrote about his love of fellow prisoner Gita in her 2018 bestselling book about their moving true story.

Polish actress Anna Próchniak, whose credits include the BBC series “Baptiste” and the film “Warsaw 44,” will play Gita. German actor Jonas Nay of “Deutschland 83” will play Auschwitz guard Stefan Baretzki. Tali Shalom-Ezer is attached to direct all six episodes.
