Shugo Praico, a prolific storyteller from the Philippines, started out as a scriptwriter at age 21 for the Philippines largest TV Network, ABS-CBN. His screenplays "Awaken (2005)," "Blackout (2007)," "Night Infinite (2010)," "Noy (2010)," "Bonifacio: Unang Pangulo (2014)," "Gemini (2014)", and "Expressway (2016)" earned him citations in prestigious local and international festivals and award giving bodies.

Praico's works primarily focus on gritty, socially relevant dramas. He wrote and directed the groundbreaking sociopolitical series "Bagman," which successfully ran for two seasons and is set to continue with a new installment in 2024. This series stood out at the Asian Academy Creative Awards, winning the Best Actor award in 2020. Shugo's LGBTQIA+ themed romantic comedy, "Betcin (2021)" won the National Award for the Best Comedy Program in 2022 following its international release as a WeTV/Tencent original series.

Shugo's latest achievement, "Nanahimik Ang Gabi" (A Silent Night, 2022), has wowed audiences. This film, highly praised by local critics, received awards at the prestigious Metro Manila Film Festival. The same work from Praico was also recognized at the Asian Academy Creative Awards and won the National awards for Best Screenplay, Best Feature Film, Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Actor in Supporting Role. The film is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime across Southeast Asia.
