Brand heavyweights to close Festival of Branded Entertainment as Phil Lloyd announced as awards host
The final session of next week’s Festival of Branded Entertainment is to feature a question and answer session from some of the major players in the fast growing space.

Among those on the panel is Jason Burrows, founder of production house Jungleboys, which is currently one of Australia’s most prolific in the advertising space and has recently cranked up its TV output.

Yesterday, Jungleboys’ Aldi ad made for Bmf was named Mumbrella’s ad of the month. Jungleboys is also behind ABC1′s A Moody Christmas which is currently screening. The company has also won Screen Australia funding to build up its longform content.

Also on the panel is Helen Lecopoulos, national media and sponsorship manager for McDonald’s. The brand is amongst Australasia’s most active commissioners of branded entertainment, with work spanning documentary, gameshow, animation, music and reality TV. Qualia lays on the romance
Luxury Hamilton Island resort, Qualia, has created a promotional video aimed at showing off its romantic side.

The work was shot by production company Plum Duff Productions and the ad was directed by Julie Duff. Duff is best known as creative director for Starcom MediaVest Group’s branded entertainment arm Liquid Thread, although the company was not involved in this project.

Hamilton Island’s Gm of marketing Denny-Lyn Dixon said: “As the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsundays, we needed footage that showcased the allure of Hamilton Island and its unique location.”

More videos will be rolled out in the next couple of months.

Advisory panel for Festival of Branded Entertainment revealed
The advisory panel involved in the development of the key issues to be covered at the inaugural Festival of Branded Entertainment, along with the award categories, can be revealed today.

The panel has been taking part in a process of consultation to ensure the industry is represented fairly and the content is developed to best reflect the needs of the Australian market.

The call for branded entertainment award entries opened on Friday, with a deadline for submissions of the 1st November 2012. Advance tickets for the day-long event and awards ceremony, to take place on the 20th November 2012, are available by contacting Cathie.

The panel includes:

Clive Burcham, founder, The Conscience Organisation

Clive‘s first job was with a country Western Australian TV station where, at 15 he directed produced his first TV pilot, the excellently ‘80s-named Kidz Biz. Clive worked for Australian television networks 7 and 9, before launching Foxtel’s Comedy Channel as creative director.

International and local experts to share insights on how to create entertaining branded content
Liquid Thread's Terkelsen

One of the world’s leading experts in delivering branded entertainment is to speak at Mumbrella360 in a session curated by media agency Starcom.

Brian Terkelsen, the New York based global president of content agency Liquid Thread, will join a panel featuring Nine’s head of development Adrian Swift and Nelson Woss, producer of Red Dog, which was Australia’s biggest box office hit in several years.

The session – Finding the Branded Entertainment Holy Grail – is being curated and moderated by John Sintras, CEO of Starcom. it will also feature Julie Duff, Liquid Thread’s creative director in Australia. Liquid Thread is a sister agency to Starcom.

The panel will discuss how to produce brand funded content that is actually entertaining.
