Andrea Garrote is an Argentine actress, director, and playwright. She has built a distinguished career in theater and film, recognized for her contributions to Argentine performing arts through acting, writing, and teaching.

Andrea Garrote hails from Villa Devoto, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Raised in a family of retired lawyers, she grew up alongside older siblings who pursued careers in psychology. Her early exposure to the arts came through workshops led by notable figures like Alberto Sava and Ricardo Bartis, which shaped her passion for performance. She further honed her craft by studying text composition with José Sanchís Sinisterra. Garrote graduated from the Escuela Municipal de Arte Dramático as an actress and playwright. She also pursued a degree in literature at the University of Buenos Aires but left to focus on her theatrical career.

Her professional journey began in 1994 when she met Rafael Spregelburd during theater classes with Ricardo Bartis. Together, they co-founded the theater group El Patrón Vázquez. Their first collaborative work, a play titled Dos personas diferentes dicen hace buen tiempo, earned recognition at the Festival Buenos Aires Joven and led to performances at festivals across Europe and Latin America. Garrote continued to collaborate with Spregelburd, co-creating and starring in works such as Remanente de invierno (1995), Reconstrucción del hecho (1997), and La extravagancia (1997-1999). In 1999, her role in La modestia alongside Mirta Busnelli garnered critical acclaim, earning her nominations and awards. She continues to act in and write for theater productions while teaching at the Universidad Nacional de las Artes, contributing to the development of new talent.
