Biography

    • Rachel Cannon was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is best known for Fresh Off the Boat (2015), Mad Men (2007) and Two and a Half Men (2003).

Rachel Cannon is an accomplished television actress, writer, producer and entertainment executive. With an acting career in Los Angeles that spans over 20 years, including over 80 network television credits, Cannon has been featured in such iconic television series as "Big Bang Theory," "Two and a Half Men," and a coveted role opposite Jon Hamm in the final season of "Mad Men." For six years, she portrayed Deidre, the snarky neighbor, in ABC's hit comedy series, "Fresh Off the Boat," where she butted heads weekly with Constance Wu's character, Jessica. Cannon delivers her signature comedic flare in the 2024 biopic, "Reagan", opposite Dennis Quaid and Penelope Ann Miller. Over the years, Chuck Lorre hired Cannon multiple times calling her "Comedy Gold". As her mentor, Lorre is the one that encouraged Cannon to write her own sitcoms, one of which was selected for Montreal Comedy Festival's Pitch Fest in 2010.

Combining her on-set experience with her strong entrepreneurial spirit, Cannon founded Prairie Surf Studios in 2021 (where she served as CEO until April 2024) and Rock Paper Cannon in 2025 (where she serves as CEO). While at Prairie Surf Studios, Cannon helped reshape Oklahoma's Film Rebate Program and successfully recruited major productions like "Tulsa King" and "Twisters," delivering a combined economic impact of more than $300 million to the state. Cannon's dynamic leadership put Oklahoma in the national spotlight with features in publications like Variety, "CBS Mornings", Deadline and the New York Times.

Her newest venture, Rock Paper Cannon is an Entertainment Company with a fresh approach to live-audience productions that deliver authentic storytelling with an amped up viewer experience anchored in Middle America. Rock Paper Cannon is on a mission to create a vibrant comedy hub that will ignite tourism and community engagement.

Cannon served on the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce in 2023-2024 and continues to support legislative efforts that will expand the film and television program in her state which she believes will allow more creative opportunities that will create sustainable jobs, economic diversity and a creative path for the next generation.
