Director Karan Tejpal On The Genesis of His Stunning Debut Stolen
Image
Director Karan Tejpal speaks in depth with Subhash K Jha about the making of his stunning debut drama Stolen.

Where did you get the idea for Stolen?

The idea for Stolen began with a video I saw of the 2018 Karbi Anglong lynching in Assam. It left a knot of fear in my stomach—a visceral, physical reaction I couldn’t shake. I felt stuck, disturbed, and the only way I knew to process that feeling was to write. The story of the Bansal brothers grew from that moment, where two young men were brutally killed by a mob that mistakenly believed they were child kidnappers—driven by panic, misinformation, and manipulated videos circulating rapidly on WhatsApp. That tragedy became the seed for the film’s narrative and emotional terrain.

How much back-research did you do on mob lynchings?

As I began researching what came to be known as the “WhatsApp lynchings,...

Image
Zee 5’s Crime Beat has given us a great political drama to both enjoy and ponder over, with a handful of crime thriller elements. There’s always risk when a show begins explosively, but Crime Beat continues to keep you hooked throughout. The ending of the show is pretty definitive, which I thought was a good creative decision. In this article we’re mainly going to discuss that, along with the possibility of the show getting another season.

Spoilers Ahead

What’s the show about?

Crime Beat opens with wanted criminal Binny Chaudhary getting shot by someone when he’s about to surrender in Indirapuram, Delhi. Then the story takes us back to a while ago, and we now follow crime journalist Abhishek Sinha, who’s struggling to find a good story (and a big break). Binny is hiding in Afghanistan, and thanks to a treaty between the Afghan and Indian governments,...

How high Bp impacts multiple organs and what low Bp tells us
Image
New Delhi, Aug 5 (Ians) While high blood pressure is majorly known to affect the heart, the disease which makes a discreet progression can have a significant effect on other body organs such as the brain, eyes, kidneys as well as also exacerbate various illnesses such as diabetes and some autoimmune diseases, say doctors.

Bp, or blood pressure, plays a crucial role in maintaining the proper functioning of our body’s organs. Consisting of two measurements — systolic and diastolic pressure — it reflects the force exerted on blood vessel walls as the heart pumps blood.

High blood pressure (Bp) or hypertension quietly damages the body for years before symptoms develop, and adversely affects various organs.

The heart is particularly vulnerable, as elevated Bp strains its muscles and may lead to conditions like heart attacks, heart failure, or arrhythmias.

Additionally, high Bp damages blood vessels, which can impair blood flow to the brain,...

According to an Inc42 report, the job cuts affected employees in tech, sales, customer success, and Hr departments, as part of the cost-cutting exercise by Increff.

Increff CEO and co-founder Rajul Jain confirmed the layoffs, saying the startup is aiming to turn profitable again.

Jain, however, said that they will continue with expansion plans in the US and Europe, according to the report.

“The layoffs were a part of the cost-cutting exercise that Increff is doing to achieve profitability at the earliest. Without attaining profitability, the startup won’t get the valuation that it is seeking,” according to the report, citing sources.

Delhi Hc gives Centre more time for response to plea over vulture population decline
Image
New Delhi, April 21 (Ians) The Delhi High Court on Friday granted more time to the Central government to file its reply in a plea raising te issue of the declining vulture population in India.

A division bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, hearing a Public Interest Litigation (Pil) plea filed by advocate Gaurav Kumar Bansal over the issue, listed the matter for the next hearing on July 25.

The court, in December 2022, had directed the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (Cdsco) to take action to safeguard and conserve vultures, by outlawing the medications that are to blame for India’s declining vulture population.

It had taken serious note of the fact that the usage of Nsaids (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) in veterinary medicine, such as diclofenac, aceclofenac, ketoprofen, nimesulide, etc., has caused a 97 per cent drop in the number of vultures.

Bansal had informed the court that even the Environment,...

Ev makers optimistic about delivering a fire-proof experience to riders
Image
Dozens of EVs burst into flames, even in showrooms, in the first half of 2022, resulting in some casualties which triggered several probes from the government and related ministries.

In October, the government released new norms for Ev makers that include additional safety requirements related to battery cells, battery management system (Bms), on-board charger, design of battery pack, and thermal propagation due to internal cell short circuit leading to fire, among others.

According to Gunjan Malhotra, Director, Komaki Electric Division, due to the growing need to reduce reliance on imported oil and the quickly diminishing fossil resources, the adoption of EVs is expanding and they are prepared to provide a secure and safe experience for riders.

"Komaki envisions safe and reliable EVs on Indian roads by offering ultra-modern EVs equipped with heat-resistant Lithium Ion Phosphate (LiPO4) batteries. Even in the worst-case scenarios, LiFePO4 batteries are safer and more secure against fire.
