He was awarded the C.M. (Member of the Order of Canada) on December 29, 1986 and invested on April 29, 1987 in Verdun, Quebec, Canada. He was Music Director of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra and the Canadian Chamber Ensemble, founder of the Stratford Festival ensemble, this pianist, composer and teacher has devoted much of his time and energy to the improvement of the musical milieu in this country.
