Image
The end is in sight for Only Murders in the Building Season 5. Dan Fogelman, who is an executive producer on the hit Hulu series, recently revealed how far along the production is on the upcoming fifth season.

Speaking with Collider on the red carpet of the Newport Beach TV Fest, Fogelman shared that filming is close to wrapping on Only Murders Season 5. "Well, I mean it’s great. I’ve seen six of the ten episodes already. We’re almost done shooting the season as we speak," the executive producer revealed. Production on the fifth season began in March 2025, roughly six months after the Emmy-winning show was renewed by Hulu.

Charli xcx pitches a Final Destination sequel with an “It Girl” cast
Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Seann William Scott, Kerr Smith, Amanda Detmer, and Chad Donella in Destination finale (2000)
After a 14 year hiatus, the Final Destination franchise returned this year with Final Destination: Bloodlines – and movie-goers were clearly missing these movies, as Bloodlines has so far pulled in $193 million at the global box office, making it the highest-grossing entry in the franchise. One fan of the series is singer/songwriter Charli xcx, who took to TikTok to share her pitch for the next sequel, one that she envisions starring in alongside several “It Girl” actresses.

Charli xcx said (with thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the transcription), “I’m rewatching all of the Final Destination movies, in preparation to see Final Destination: Bloodlines, which I’m really excited to see. The reason I love these movies is that they really just are about hot people getting killed. You know, there’s no moral backbone to the story, it really is just, ‘They’re hot, they’re cursed and they deserve to die.

Only Murders in the Building Confirms an Oscar-Winning Fan Favorite Will Return in Season 5
Image
Another key cast member from Only Murders in the Building is now officially confirmed for Season 5. Meryl Streep will be reprising her role as Oliver's wife Loretta Durkin in the upcoming season of the Hulu series.

The casting announcement was made on the official X account for the show, which shared a video of Selena Gomez and Streep discussing the latter's return. After Gomez, who co-leads Only Murders as Mabel Mora, asked Streep if she would be back for Season 5, the Oscar-winning actor began her response, "Well, I think that depends on—," before being cut off by Gomez, who stated, "No, no, no. That wasn't a question." While this Only Murders return is exciting news, fans shouldn't expect to see more of Streep than they did in the previous two seasons, with the actor once again expected to be a recurring guest star in Season 5.

Amazon 2025 Upfront: Michael B. Jordan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis Light Up Stage as Streamer Makes Strong Return
Image
Amazon made its second formal appearance at the upfronts in New York on Monday night, and once again, it pulled out all the stops.

Like their 2024 presentation, Amazon made a number of splashy announcements with major star power to rev up excitement in the normally sedated crowd of advertising executives at the storied Beacon Theater in Manhattan.

World famous DJ Steve Aoki opened the show with over half an hour of blasting beats on behalf of Twitch, which was no doubt welcome by weary advertisers who had been making their way around the city to different network presentations since morning. What better than some good Edm to wake you up on a Monday evening, after all?

Not long after, Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista made their way onstage with Lizzo leading the way. Yes, you read that right. Lizzo sang her hit song “About Damn Time,” with Momoa and Bautista...

Pixar Once Tried To Launch A Bizarre Spin-Off Based On Their Worst Franchise
Image
It's generally agreed that John Lasseter's 2006 film "Cars" is one of Pixar's less ambitious movies. Other movies in the Pixar canon tickled the imagination by presenting the secret worlds of commonplace beings. "Toy Story" posited that our toys came to life when we weren't looking (which we always kinda knew was true anyway). "A Bug's Life" saw ants as arranged into a tiny, secret society, while "Finding Nemo" did the same with fish. "Monsters, Inc." said that closet monsters were real, but that they only scare children as an element of a boring, blue-collar job. Back in monster land, the monsters are boring like your dad.

"Cars" was a departure for the studio, as there was no secret being revealed. "Cars" took place in a parallel universe wherein living beings were replaced by anthropomorphic vehicles. They had eyes instead of windshields, and mouths on their bumpers. They seemed to eat gasoline.

Charli xcx to star in and produce the next Takashi Miike film
Charli XCX
Singer/songwriter Charli xcx is working on building up her film acting career, and she’s going about it in a really interesting way. A couple of years ago, we heard that she was set to make her feature acting debut with Legendary Entertainment’s remake of the infamous 1978 box office hit Faces of Death… and someday we might even get to see that movie, but as of right now it still doesn’t have a distributor. Since working on Faces of Death, Charli xcx has taken roles in the Gregg Araki thriller I Want Your Sex, Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist, Romain Gavras’s Sacrifice, Jeremy O. 'Only Murders in the Building' Season 5 is filming — here’s what to expect
Image
Keegan-Michael Key, Renée Zellweger, and more join the cast as filming kicks off in NYC.

I thought Season 4 of “Only Murders in the Building” was its best so far. It was funny (obvs), but also really well paced, with multiple storylines (both inside the building and out) that kept things interesting, and a mystery that kept me hooked right up until the finale. It somehow managed to feel fresh without losing any of the charm that made the show such a hit to begin with. And just like that, our favorite amateur sleuths are back on the case — Season 5 is now filming in New York.

Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez are all returning, along with a new round of big-name guest stars. If this cast is any indication, we’re in for another fun and twisty ride. Here’s everything you need to know about Season 5 of “Only Murders in the Building....
