Benson “Smooth” Henderson continued to roll over anyone not named “Anthony Pettis” at Ufc Fight Night 42 Saturday.
In the main event of last night’s Ufc Fight Night 42: Henderson vs. Khabilov, former lightweight champ Benson “Smooth” Henderson faced off against Russian born sambo fighter Rustan Khabilov in a fight that showed the smooth one deserves to stay in the title mix at 155, while original Ultimate Fighter Diego “The Dream” Sanchez attempted to bring back his “Nightmare” persona for a home town brawl against Ross Pearson, earning a controversial split decision in the co-headling fight.
Ufc Fight Night 42 saw the main card open with a Bantamweight scrap between Bryan Caraway and Érik Pérez. Caraway controlled in the opening stanza, while Pérez came out with an energetic takedown early in the second only to see it reversed by his opponent. Caraway then managed to control from his opponent’s back, sinking...

Stipe Miocic was in a lose-lose situation heading into tonight’s main event against light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3 Finale. If he doesn’t smash the Brazilian in the first round, people will doubt how good Miocic really is. If Miocic loses the fight, he plummets in the Ufc heavyweight rankings and won’t get a title shot for a very long time. The number seven ranked heavyweight in the Ufc chose the first option as Miocic defeated Maldonado by first round Tko in 0:35.
To begin the fight, Maldonado went right at Miocic. The Ohio native though kept his cool and hit Maldonado with a left hand that dropped the Brazilian. Miocic let him up and then dropped Maldonado with a right hand. A couple hammerfists later and referee Mario Yamasaki stopped the fight.

Although the Ufc has travelled to Brazil twice in around six months, there can be little doubt that Dana White will want to take the promotion to South America sometime in the near future. For, like Ufc 134, the first main card of 2012 had something of everything for the 17,000+ capacity crowd and the millions of people who watched the event live across the globe: spectacular submissions, knock-outs, and a wealth of controversy both in and outside of the octagon.
The drama began early the previous evening when Dana White announced that American wrestler Anthony Johnson- who recently moved up a weight-class to middleweight- would fail to meet the agreed non-title limit of 186lbs. Eventually, although his opponent Vitor Belfort accepted the bout, Johnson- whose team had contrived a spectacular narrative of excuses for the fighter- weighed in at an almost preposterous 197lbs and had to weigh in again the next...
