Biography

    • Rob Flanagan has a commanding screen presence. His size, strength and lived-in truth brings depth and substance to his characters. British-born but based in Australia, Rob carries a real-world masculinity that's rare now. It feels earned, not performed. He's the kind of man Denzel Washington or Josh Brolin would play - tall, capable, worn-in - with the unpredictable edge of a Tom Hardy character when it's needed. He came to acting later than most and added a stunt accreditation to his resume to back it all up as the real deal. His international work includes the Japanese hit The Silent Service (Amazon Prime), playing US Admiral Richard Boyce - calm, relentless - and Hollywood titles like Thor, Planet of the Apes, Play Dirty, The Fall Guy (the skip bin chase) and Superman Returns, where he's the man behind the now-famous bullet-in-the-eye scene. At home he works regularly in Australian film and TV including Underbelly, Les Norton and Critical Incident. Directors cast Rob when they want a man who can hold a scene without always needing words - leaders, fathers, outlaws who've done the miles, but with just enough Hardy in the eyes when it turns dark.
