James Windeler is an American screenwriter and narrative designer. He is best known as Lead Writer at Telltale Games, where he oversaw the narrative on the WGA-nominated Batman series "The Enemy Within", and on the final season of their iconic Walking Dead. He is currently (2021) writing an unannounced AAA project for Monolith Productions, a Warner Brothers games studio.
His feature script "Sweet Little Lies" made the finalist short-list of the Nicholl Fellowship and was produced independently. The film won Audience Choice and Industry Choice Awards at Dances With Films Festival in LA and has screened internationally. James was recognized a second time by the Nicholl, reaching the quarterfinals with Man With Van. The feature screenplay was also a finalist in Final Draft's Big Break, and was later produced by SeeHearSpeak Films. James has also produced documentaries, including "The Penny Black" (dir. William Saunders), which screened at Slamdance in 2020). He penned a number of award-winning short films, including Boffin & Boffin (dir. Ed Blythe) and Dandelion Fall (dir. Lauren Wolkstein), released on DVD by Wolfe. He holds an undergraduate degree in Social Anthropology from Cambridge, and an MFA in Film from Columbia University.
