“Damien Darhk Would Kick Superman’s Butt”: ‘Arrow's Neal McDonough Reveals If He’d Ever Do a DC Project Again [Exclusive]
Image
As James Gunn continues to develop his Dcu with shows like Creature Commandos and films such as Superman gracing the screens of fans over the next year, some fans are looking back on one of the more successful live-action endeavors with DC Comics. Nicknamed the "Arrowverse," the series of television shows on the CW began with Arrow in 2011, starring Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, aka The Green Arrow. Arrow divided fans with its staunch canon divergences but ultimately ran for eight seasons, sparking an entire universe of seven television shows that eventually came to a close with the series finale of Superman & Lois last year. Many of the actors involved in the series became synonymous with their roles long after they played them, one of whom was Neal McDonough for his role as Damien Darhk, first appearing in Arrow, then eventually appearing in other shows such as The Flash and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

13 Best Guest Stars Everyone Forgot Were on Dexter, Ranked
Image
This article discusses death by suicide.

Of course, John Lithgow wins the award for the best guest star on Dexter. It’s impossible to forget his menacing character The Trinity Killer. The same goes for other high-profile stars who appeared on one or more seasons, like Keith Carradine, Julia Stiles, Colin Hanks, Mark Pellegrino, Jimmy Smits, and Yvonne Strahovski.

But beyond these few, there were many stars who had guest roles on the show, some even for multiple seasons, that fans who originally watched almost 20 years ago may have forgotten about. In some cases, these actors didn’t get their big breakout role, or at least the role that fans of this generation know them for, until after they were on Dexter. But for fans watching or re-watching now, it’s a pleasant surprise to see them pop up.

Roberto Orci, one of the co-writers of some of the biggest sci-fi franchises in the 21st century, has sadly passed away at 51 following a battle with kidney disease at his home in Los Angeles. Born in Mexico City on July 20, 1973, Orci moved to the United States with his family when he was ten years old. He developed a lifelong passion for sci-fi franchises like Star Trek and Transformers, two series that he was instrumental in reshaping.

Roberto Orci's passing is certainly one that will leave shock waves, as he was one of the most prolific screenwriters of the 2000s and 2010s whose work likely influenced many. His work on Transformers and Star Trek reshaped both franchises and kick-started a new era in sci-fi blockbusters. Orci's brother, J.R., released a statement following the writer's passing.

Roberto Orci, a writer and producer known for his work on Star Trek, Transformers, and Hawaii Five-0, died at his home in Los Angeles on February 25 due to complications from kidney disease. He was 51.

Born in Mexico City, Orci moved to the United States as a child. His early career in television included writing and producing on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, and Alias. Their work included Transformers (2007) and Star Trek (2009), both of which became box office hits. Orci once spoke about how the relationship between Kirk and Spock in Star Trek reflected his and Kurtzman’s dynamic. “We’re from different worlds,” he said in 2009. “Alex was born here, and I was born in Mexico City. Image
Roberto Orci, known for his work on Star Trek and other major franchises, has passed away. He was 51 years old. Per Deadline, Orci died on Friday, Feb. 25, at his Los Angeles home. His death was attributed to kidney disease.

“He was a visionary storyteller with a boundless heart and a beautiful soul,” J.R. Orci, the writer-producer's brother, said of his late sibling. “But beyond his creative talents, he was a compassionate friend who would put his life on hold to help a stranger and find room in his home for the most overlooked pup at the shelter.”

Roberto "Bob" Gaston Orci was born in Mexico City, Mexico, on July 20, 1973. As a child, he relocated to the United States, and he met longtime collaborator Alex Kurtzman when the two were teenagers at a private school in Santa Monica, California. The Rookie’s Best Villain Was a Racist A-hole That Was Played to Perfection by a DC Star
Image
Every great cop show needs that one villain who makes your blood boil, and The Rookie delivered big time with its most despicable bad guy. This wasn’t just your run-of-the-mill criminal; he was a racist, power-hungry nightmare who made life miserable for our favorite officers.

A still from The Rookie | Credits: Lionsgate Television

But here’s the kicker: the actor behind this perfectly played a-hole is actually a DC star. Watching him ooze arrogance and menace on The Rookie made it impossible to look away, even while hating his guts.

How Brandon Routh nailed The Rookie’s most hated villain to perfection Brandon Routh as Superman in Superman Returns | Credits: DC Studios

The Rookie didn’t need a masked supervillain — Brandon Routh’s Officer Doug Stanton was terrifying enough. Known for playing the charming Ray Palmer in the Arrowverse, Routh flipped the script in The Rookie Season 3, becoming the show’s most unsettling antagonist.

Former Superman and Arrowverse Actors Announce Divorce After 17 Years of Marriage
Image
Before James Gunn rebooted the DC film and movie slate with the Dcu, before there even was a Dceu and long before Stephen Amell’s Arrow kicked off the popular Arrowverse, the star of DC shows and movies was dwindling. The latest project at the time, Superman Returns, starring Brandon Routh, was a flop of epic proportions.

Though Routh lost out on future roles as the Man of Steel, he returned to DC as Ray Palmer - The Atom - on the Arrowverse shows Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow, where he was a core cast member, along with his wife, Courtney Ford. Now that iconic couple has ended 17 years of marriage, though they admit the timing couldn't be worse.

Like many sitcoms of its kind, The Big Bang Theory was no stranger to guest appearances, and a good amount of them left a notable impact on the fanbase. While it’s hard to imagine the sitcom without its main cast, which involves Sheldon, Penny, Leonard, Raj, and Howard, this didn’t stop some other less trivial characters from making a splash.

The Strongest Legends of Tomorrow Villains, Ranked
Image
The heroes of DC's Legends of Tomorrow include the likes of Firestorm, The Atom, Vixen, and John Constantine. Although the Legends may be formidable, they're not always the smartest or most capable. The villains they face are even stronger than they are and remain entirely focused on their goals.

Despite the odds consistently being against them, the Legends of Tomorrow fought and somehow defeated some of the most powerful villains in the Arrowverse. These enemies include classic DC villains like Vandal Savage and Reverse Flash, original threats like Mallus, and future Legends like Astra Louge and Nora Darhk. To the strongest villains in Legends of Tomorrow, time and space are mere playthings.

We Lost: The Last Great Arrowverse Show Was Originally Planned as a Spinoff of the Most Underrated DC Superhero
Image
One thing that plagued the Arrowverse throughout its entirety was the dip in quality in most of its entries, especially in the latter seasons. This problem was apparent in its biggest attractions, Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, which despite starting out on a high note and growing to immense popularity, lost their spark during the latter half of their run.

But it was quite the opposite for Legends of Tomorrow, which often gets overlooked when it comes to CW DC shows, and interestingly, the show was originally planned to be just an Atom spin-off.

Arrowverse Initially Intended Legends of Tomorrow to Be an Atom Spin-off

Legends of Tomorrow – CW

Unlike Noah Centineo‘s Atom in Black Adam, which barely gets any spotlight, Brandon Routh‘s Atom garnered immense popularity following his recurring appearances in Arrow back in 2014. This prompted CW to consider a spin-off with Ray Palmer’s Atom at its center,...

10 Actors You Forgot Starred in The Vampire Diaries

Along with being one of the biggest shows of the 21st century, The Vampire Diaries also had one of the biggest ensemble casts. The fantasy show shot its three lead actors -- Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley -- to stardom, but there were also plenty of actors who played smaller parts in the CW series.

Most of these actors, like Gavin Casalegno, played bit parts in the vampire drama but went on to become hugely popular for their own shows. Even super fans would have forgotten that these stars appeared in The Vampire Diaries in varying capacities.

The Big Bang Theory’s Halloween Episode Featured Leonard’s Worst Moment
Image
While Leonard had plenty of terrible moments in The Big Bang Theory, it was one fateful Halloween special that saw the sitcom’s hero start down a dark path. While Sheldon was unashamedly grating in both The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, his roommate Leonard was always a sneakier sort of character. Leonard was initially established as the put-upon hero of The Big Bang Theory, but as the show continued his character flaws became harder and harder to ignore.

Well before he ended up with The Big Bang Theory heroine Penny, Leonard had a dishonest streak that would come out from time to time. This flaw was at its most egregious in one Halloween episode of The Big Bang Theory when Leonard cheated on his long-distance girlfriend rather than breaking up with her. Years before Leonard admitted that he also cheated on Penny in The Big Bang Theory’s season 8 finale,...

SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher has joined the chorus of actors voicing their support for IATSE’s demands for a fair contract as IATSE prepares to take a strike authorization vote. “Standing in #solidarity w/my on-set friends & colleagues in @IATSE,” she tweeted Wednesday. “Entertainment content only happens bc our crews are extraordinary.”

Many other SAG-AFTRA leaders have also taken to twitter to express their support. “I stand with you my @IATSE brothers and sisters,” tweeted former SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris. “You make entertainment magic and deserve fairness and dignity on the job.”

Joely Fisher, recently elected secretary-treasurer of SAG-AFTRA, tweeted: “To my sisters and brothers and others in @IATSE. I stand with you in solidarity #IASolidarity #union #UnionStrong.”

SAG-AFTRA national board member Anthony Rapp, who Fisher defeated in the race for secretary-treasurer, tweeted: “I stand with my @IATSE friends & colleagues who work on our shows’ crews. None of what you...

‘DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow’: Aliyah O’Brien Joins Season 6 In Recurring Role
Image
Exclusive: Canadian actress Aliyah O’Brien has been tapped for a recurring role on the upcoming sixth season of the CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

O’Brien will play Kayla, a fearsome warrior with a high body count and low patience for human incompetence. She’ll be put through her paces working with and against the Legends as she’s certainly not used to messing anything up much less for the better.

Caity Lotz, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Tala Ashe, Matt Ryan, Jes Macallan, Olivia Swann and Courtney Ford star.

Based on the characters from DC, DC’S Legends of Tomorrow is from Bonanza Productions in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti, Phil Klemmer, Grianne Godfree, Keto Shimizu and Sarah Schechter.

O’Brien’s television credits include the series-regular role of Detective Christine Rollins in ABC’s crime procedural Take Two,...

Critics Choice Super Awards Presentation Serves Up Fan Favorites!!
Kevin Smith
As a Critics Choice Association member, I'm thrilled to share information on the first Critics Choice Super Awards presentation!

At TV Fanatic, we embrace sophistication and fun, so when awards season comes along, it can be alarming to realize that so much of what we cover (and watch) isn't considered award-worthy.

Heck, we've even written an article about it!

But those of you who love genre television and films will no longer go unrepresented. The Critics Choice Super Awards will air on The CW (of course!) on Sunday, January 10.

And while there isn't a ceremony that will have all of the critics and nominees in one location, that's not stopping us from offering one heck of a great night with all of your favorites!

The Critics Choice Association (Cca) announced today the incredible line-up of talent that will join hosts Kevin Smith and Dani Fernandez at the inaugural Critics Choice Super Awards,...

Image
Brandon Routh is bringing a divisive new perspective to The Rookie: The Legends of Tomorrow vet will recur during Season 3 of the ABC cop drama as Doug Stanton, “an 11-year veteran of the LAPD, whose views prove to be polarizing at the Mid-Wilshire station,” our sister site Deadline reports. Routh is currently booked for four installments, with the potential for a season-long arc. He makes his debut in Episode 4.

In the upcoming season — premiering on Sunday, Jan. 3 at 10/9c — Nathan Fillion’s Nolan is “nearing the end of his training” and facing “his biggest challenge as a police officer when...

Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in Supernatural (2005)
Supernatural: The Best Episodes
Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in Supernatural (2005)
This Supernatural feature contains Major spoilers up to and including the series finale.

Over the course of 15 years, Supernatural aired an extraordinary 327 episodes, every single one of them starring the same two people, a quite incredible achievement.

In 327 episodes, of course, there have been some stinkers, and there have been moments of brilliance. Supernatural did scary episodes, gross-out episodes, funny episodes, tragic episodes, tragically funny episodes and episodes set on its own soundstage. Here are 25 of the very best.

25/327*. Carry On

*delete according to preference, and see “Dishonorable mentions” below

We’re being controversial right off the bat, as the series finale has fans split right down the middle between feeling pretty pleased with it and absolutely hating it. And for the many fans that hate it, they really, really hate it. If that’s you, we understand your issues with it – see our ‘Dishonorable Mentions’ list.

But for others,...

Legends' Nora Debates Ray's Plan to Stop an '80s Slayer in Deleted Scene
Image
If you thought you’d seen the last of Legends of Tomorrow‘s Ray and Nora, think again.

In the deleted scene above — from DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Fifth Season (out on DVD and Blu-ray Sept. 22) — we learn that in the episode “Slay Anything,” Nora (played by Courtney Ford) had legitimate concerns about Ray’s (Brandon Routh) plan to track down high school student Freddy Meyers in the 1980s and try to steer him onto, you know, a less-serial killy path. (Heck, we in turn learn that Ray even had a plan; in the episode as aired,...

Legends Of Tomorrow Stars Joke That They’re To Blame For 2020
The coronavirus pandemic has had a massive effect on the entertainment industry, and going forwards it will be some time, if ever, before things return to normal. A number of factors all coming together at precisely the wrong time allowed for the virus to run rampant, but a far more simple explanation has been put forward now. That being that it was all the fault of the Legends of Tomorrow.

During a virtual panel for Wizard World, the subject of the stranger-than-fiction year we’ve been having was brought up, where Courtney Ford (Nora) queried who was responsible, to which Tala Ashe (Zari) had an inevitable response:

“You could blame the Legends for the whole thing. That the Legends did it.”

Ford went on to ask which of them would be to blame for it, with most cast members agreeing it would have been Gary, the enthusiastic and well-meaning but comically incompetent former Time Agent,...

Legends Promotes Shayan Sobhian to Series Regular for Season 6
Image
Legends of Tomorrow is officially saving a seat for Behrad on the Waverider: Shayan Sobhian, who plays Zari’s younger brother, has been promoted to series regular for Season 6, TVLine has learned.

Sobhian made his first appearance on the CW drama in the Season 4 finale, when the Legends altered history and erased their Zari from the timeline. In her place, the air totem-wielding Behrad — who was never killed because of the changes to the past — became a member of Team Legends, while his Zari became a social media influencer/entrepreneur.

Legends Of Tomorrow Season 5 Is Now On Netflix
Good news, Arrowverse fans! Legends of Tomorrow only just wrapped up its fifth season last week, but it’s already available on Netflix. Thanks to a revised deal between Warner Bros. Television and the streaming giant, new seasons of The CW’s DC TV universe land on Netflix just days after they conclude on TV. Not including Batwoman, that is, which is on HBO Max instead. The Flash and Supergirl, though, had their latest seasons arrive on the service in May. Legends was the last to end earlier this June so now it’s following suit.

Legends season 5 is 15 episodes long and kicked off back in January with the concluding chapter of “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” So, when you binge-watch the season, you may wish to check out the first four episodes – on Supergirl, Batwoman, The Flash and Arrow, in that order – before you start, just so that you can get the full story.

Legends Of Tomorrow Star Shares Goodbye Message Following Exit
Legends of Tomorrow said goodbye to another of its long-running cast members in its recent season 5 finale. Maisie Richardson-Sellers has been a regular on the Waverider since season 2, pulling double duty as two separate characters, but the actress has elected to step away from the show to focus on new opportunities.

Yesterday, she took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message of thanks to her fans, co-stars and the Legends production team for making her stint in the Arrowverse so enjoyable.

“I have loved every moment of bringing Amaya and Charlie to life these past 4 years,” Richardson-Sellers began in her caption, which was paired with a promo image of herself as Charlie.

“The most special crew we could ever hope for, through all the long hours, you kept me smiling and created such a strong sense of family and support. The writers and post production team, what a world you have created!

Legends Of Tomorrow Just Lost Another Regular Cast Member
Legends of Tomorrow aired its season finale last night, with episode 5×14 “Swan Thong.” Unlike its fellow Arrowverse shows, though, Legends was able to close production prior to the pandemic, so this was the conclusion to the story as intended. And it featured a major change to the status quo, as one of the show’s longest-running cast members said goodbye to the team as a series regular.

The cast member in question is Maisie Richardson-Sellers, whose character Charlie was written out in “Swan Thong.” Co-showrunner Phil Klemmer spoke to TV Line about the move following the airing of the episode, revealing that the actress’ exit has been in the planning all season. The forewarning allowed them to build up a satisfying ending for Charlie, but at the same time, leave the door open for her to return whenever she likes.

“This was something that was well over a year in the works,...

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Loses Series Regular Ahead of Season 6
Olivia Swann, Shayan Sobhian, Nick Zano, Amy Louise Pemberton, Matt Ryan, Adam Tsekhman, Caity Lotz, Tala Ashe, Jes Macallan, and Lisseth Chavez in DC: Legends of Tomorrow (2016)
DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 will not included Maisie Richardson-Sellers as a series regular.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 14 -- the show's fifth season finale -- found Charlie opting to stay in 1970s London after saying goodbye to the team.

While her exit was not confirmed at the time, and given that the show tends to switch things up, it has now been confirmed.

Phil Klemmer, one of the showrunners on the Arrowverse series, explained to TV Line that the star's departure had actually been planned for a while, but he didn't rule out a return in the future.

"This was something that was well over a year in the works," he said.

"We knew that [Maisie] was wanting to make her mark as a filmmaker on her own, and so that allowed us to craft a story that would, hopefully, make for a satisfying conclusion.

"The finale was sort of all about her.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 15 Review: Swan Thong
Image
This Legends of Tomorrow episode review contains spoilers.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 15

Broadly speaking, there are three types of Legends of Tomorrow episodes. There are the gag episodes, where the entire thing is built around one bit. There are the experimental episodes, with countless examples, the most recent being last week’s Interdimensional Cable episode.

And there are the plot episodes, that move the season’s serialized story along. The first batch are hit or miss depending on how the one bit of the episode lands, but they generally hit. The second batch are what makes Legends Legends, something even the cast agrees with — even when they don’t work, they’re still interesting, and they almost always work spectacularly.

The plot episodes are where the show has traditionally struggled, because the strengths of the show are the characters and relationships they’ve formed, and historically, plot episodes on...

Legends of Tomorrow, arguably the best superhero show on The CW, is in the midst of an incredible (and somehow its best yet) fifth season. Here’s everything you need to know about the new season to keep you up to date with the misadventures of the crew of the Waverider!

Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Return Date

The next episode of Legends of Tomorrow is called “Swan Thong” and it airs on June 2. This is the Legends of Tomorrow season finale. Unlike several other Arrowverse shows, Legends of Tomorrow joins Black Lightning as one that was actually able to finish its season as planned, despite the coronavirus production shutdown, since they had finished shooting much sooner.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“Still controlled by the Fates, the Legends find themselves in 1984-esque world, they soon discover that things aren’t as they thought they would be. The Legends must convince...

Why Legends of Tomorrow’s Depiction of Male Friendship Matters
Brandon Routh
Though few fans were happy about the news that real-life spouses Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford were leaving the show, Legends of Tomorrow did its best to send the pair off in a way that befitted both their characters. Onscreen couple Ray Palmer and Nora Dahrk tied the knot before deciding to depart the Waverider, and while there’s certainly a conversation to be had about the rushed nature of their trip to the altar, the end result feels earned enough.

Interestingly, however, the focus of the pair’s final episode isn’t on their love story or even the reasons behind their choice to return to life in the real world. Rather, Ray’s relationship with his bestie Nate Heywood takes center stage in “Romeo vs. Juliet: Dawn of Justness,” reminding us all that for all the things Legends does right (of which there are many), its depiction of...

Crisis On Infinite Earths Bts Video Reveals A Superman/Spider-Man Team-Up
Brandon Routh
This year’s Arrowverse crossover, “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” was the biggest and best yet, essentially delivering everything a fan could ask for: crossovers with multiple classic movies and TV shows, Batman himself and a bunch of Supermen. You know what the only thing that could improve it would be, though? A Marvel/DC crossover where Spider-Man hung out with the Man of Steel.

While such a thing isn’t going to appear on our screens anytime soon, it turns out Brandon Routh and his son Leo created this legendary team-up behind the scenes. The Legends of Tomorrow star shared a cute throwback video on his Instagram today, featuring him in his Kingdom Come Superman suit posing alongside Leo, who was in the guise of the famed webslinger. Like Routh says in his caption, this is “the 1st ever Superman/Spider-Man photoshoot.”

Brandon Routh Says Ray And Nora’s Legends Of Tomorrow Exit Felt Forced
Olivia Swann, Shayan Sobhian, Nick Zano, Amy Louise Pemberton, Matt Ryan, Adam Tsekhman, Caity Lotz, Tala Ashe, Jes Macallan, and Lisseth Chavez in DC: Legends of Tomorrow (2016)
This past Tuesday delivered a monumental episode of Legends of Tomorrow, as both Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford made their last appearances as series regulars. As Ray Palmer/The Atom, Routh has been on board the Waverider from the very beginning, and was also a major player on Arrow before that. Likewise, his real-life wife Ford has become a fan favorite since joining the cast in season 3. As such, there are a lot of folks unhappy that they’ve been written out.

And as has become sadly very clear by now, Routh is one of them. The actor’s previously opened up about how it was certainly neither his nor Ford’s decision to leave and it was something that was sprung on them and, in his words, not handled well. This has led the star to have some mixed feelings about his character’s exit.

While speaking to TV...

Legends Of Tomorrow Fans Are Crushed Over Brandon Routh’s Exit
Olivia Swann, Shayan Sobhian, Nick Zano, Amy Louise Pemberton, Matt Ryan, Adam Tsekhman, Caity Lotz, Tala Ashe, Jes Macallan, and Lisseth Chavez in DC: Legends of Tomorrow (2016)
Last night, Legends of Tomorrow finally reached an episode that fans of the time-traveling DC series have been dreading – the last appearance for both Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford as regulars. Routh has been on board the Waverider since the show began and Ford has become a firm fan favorite, too, since she joined the cast in season 3. Unfortunately, we learned the news late last year that the real-life couple was being written out of Legends in season 5.

Yesterday’s episode, “Romeo V Juliet: Dawn of Justness,” was the installment in question. Though it was a very sweet, perfect goodbye for the pair – as Ray Palmer and Nora Darhk tied the knot and got themselves a happy ending – fans are mostly just distraught that Mr. and Mrs. Atom are leaving the Arrowverse.

We’re all going to miss them.

Olivia Swann, Shayan Sobhian, Nick Zano, Amy Louise Pemberton, Matt Ryan, Adam Tsekhman, Caity Lotz, Tala Ashe, Jes Macallan, and Lisseth Chavez in DC: Legends of Tomorrow (2016)
This Legends of Tomorrow review contains spoilers.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 5 Episode 7

It feels right that “Romeo V. Juliet: Dawn of Justness” is Legends of Tomorrow’s big sendoff for Brandon Routh. There’s not really a more Legends way to send Ray Palmer off. There’s a macguffin; they joke around about it for half the episode; they get it; and then they fuck around and do hetero life partner Romeo & Juliet with Nate and Ray for the last half. We’ve seen it a million times.

Seriously, though, this episode of Legends of Tomorrow is every bit as silly and funny as we’ve come to expect from the show, but underneath that ridiculousness is a show with some things to say about friendship and these characters, and it might be me reading into it, but it seems like they might be a little mad about the current state of affairs,...

I did not really appreciate last week’s episode when I first watched it.
