A gang of homeless misfits fight for survival in this dull reboot of the 1987 American horror film

This is less a remake than an echo of the 1987 American cult horror flick of the same title. As in the previous film, it contains lashings of melted flesh courtesy of practical effects, and a plot engine wherein evil powers are trying to kill off the homeless. This time though the action has been transposed from urban America to a dystopian Cape Town, South Africa, where there is seemingly no middle class: just propertied rich folk making jokes about crypto currency over their phones … and everyone else.

The grubby majority live on the streets, picking through trash to survive. Assorted gangs get into internecine squabbles with each other when it’s pretty obvious the real foes are the rich. That goes especially for Mayor Mostert who has devised an airborne poison that liquifies...

It’s nearly 30 years since the global franchise of Body Worlds exhibitions — collections of dissected and plastinated human cadavers, equal parts science lesson and carnival attraction — racked up ticket sales and stoked controversy in multiple international markets. Anatomist (or ringmaster) Gunther von Hagens professed to display the body as it had never been publicly viewed before, and there was certainly a lurid fascination to Body Worlds’ vision of what we look like under the skin. That sense of revelation is recalled in Véréna Paravel and Lucien Castaing-Taylor’s extraordinary new documentary “De Humani Corporis Fabrica,” which likewise delves dizzyingly beneath the flesh to show organs, systems and actions that we know are inside us, but tend to keep tidily out of mind.

Prince Frederick von Anhalt has said he wants to preserve the 93-year-old’s body so her beauty will last forever, saying he would prefer the method used by German doctor Gunther von Hagens, who replaces water and fat in bodies with plastics, leaving them in a fully preserved fashion, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

In a story published Wednesday (June 23) in British tabloid The Sun,, the newspaper reported that Gaga has reached out to Gunther von Hagens, a controversial anatomist who invented a technique for preserving cadavers called plastination and is responsible for the popular traveling exhibition "Body Worlds."

The Sun quoted "a friend" of Gaga as saying "she is fascinated by Gunther's work and life ... [Gaga] sees a kindred spirit and is hoping to meet him in New York. They have spoken over e-mail and it's gone well. She is keen to have some Body Worlds element in one of her shows."
