Ancient Chinese Martial Art That Inspired Naruto’s Gentle Fist and Avatar’s Airbending Is Over 200 Years Old
Image
We all love a good fight scene that’s packed with power and impact. Naruto does just that with its impeccable battle choreography and animation. It is a shonen masterpiece hailed for its epic showdowns and duels. This includes the meticulousness of Taijutsu combat, particularly Gentle Fist.

Avatar, however, is second to none with its stunning details and well-crafted moves. The element bending is unique in so many ways; the mastery, the control, and the techniques are what make it so special. Though both Gentle Fist and Airbending have one thing in common.

They’re both based on an ancient Chinese martial art that dates back to the 19th century. It is estimated to be over 200 years old, but what’s more fascinating about it is its usage. While both series use the core concepts of this fighting style, they add their signature flair to it, and here’s how they do it.

Naruto’s Worldbuilding Stops Where the Women Start
Image
Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto has long been hailed as an industry pioneer thanks to his popular shonen series. A heartwarming protagonist with a heart-wrenching past, a moody frenemy that almost becomes a te**orist, teenage angst, love triangle, mythical creatures, and even aliens, the series has it all.

Add to it the moral ambiguity of the villains, and philosophical debates, and you’ve got a masterpiece in your hands. The careful world-building and intricately woven storylines also add layers to it until fans realize just how deep the lore goes.

Unfortunately, though, all of it comes tumbling down on one aspect of the series that gets increasingly hard to overlook as the story progresses. That is, his careful world-building comes to a screeching stop when it comes to the female characters in his series.

One Piece is Just Inferior: Naruto Has an Anime-Original Fight Scene That Uses Wing Chun, Martial Art Developed by Bruce Lee’s Teacher
Image
When we think about top-tier fights in Shonen, Naruto being on the list is no overstatement. This is because of the impeccable and flawless battle choreography. There’s Naruto versus Sasuke, and then there’s Kakashi versus Obito; we asked for it, and Pierrot delivered it.

The moves, be they kicks and punches, are perfected to a T. We have to salute the animators behind this fluidity in motion and maneuvers. But there is an underrated fight that deserves a special mention for using a unique combat style.

Most specifically, the animator used Wing Chun in one of the fight scenes, which added an oomph factor to it. The scene is significant in most aspects as it racks up action elements, but also in the sense that it highlights Bruce Lee’s legacy and impact. How so? Let’s explore this.

Naruto Is Just an Endless Cycle of Team 7 Parallels
Image
Naruto is one of the most popular shonen series ever. Hailed as one of the Big 3s, Masashi Kishimoto’s masterpiece continues to entertain fans even years after its conclusion. Its spin-off sequel, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, has only added to that hype.

However, for all its success, there is one complaint that Naruto fans still feel enraged about. That is, the entire series revolves continuously around only Team 7.

While it is not exactly surprising since Team 7 does make up the extended protagonist trio, it makes fans dissatisfied due to the lost opportunity to expound on many other interesting characters the series boasts.

Naruto revolves entirely around Team 7 and their parallels

Naruto tells the story of the titular orphan boy, who goes to great lengths to gain the attraction of the people of his village while they try their best to ostracize him.

“I only knew one thing…”: Masashi Kishimoto Had Pre-planned One Naruto Battle Scene Even Before Writing the Manga
Image
We’re often told that things don’t go as they’re planned but Masashi Kishimoto overturned this whole notion in his series Naruto. It’s a mix of both planned and unplanned arcs, which is what makes it so interesting. But there is one such instance that ended up working in the mangaka’s favor.

In other words, the mangaka had already planned on including a battle scene in his work. Little did we know that it would be one of the most epic fights in the series. It also highlights the theme of rivalry, which runs parallel within the story.

A Last-Minute Twist Character Ruined Naruto Shippuden’s Ending Forever
Image
Naruto is a cult classic when it comes to Shonen anime. The series holds a special place in our hearts but that doesn’t mean it is spared from criticism in any case. This is true for a twist that ruined the series’ ending for real and this had more to do with a character.

Fans called it the worst thing to happen to the show and their reactions are valid. The character screwed the pooch and the plot but that isn’t all there is to it. This move did another great character dirty in every single way and we wish Masashi Kishimoto handled it better and here’s why.

One Piece: Why Oda Must Not Follow Masashi Kishimoto’s 1 Storyline That Ruined Naruto
Image
Masashi Kishimoto might have momentarily lost control over Naruto’s steering wheel with the reincarnation twist, and it should be all the warning Eiichiro Oda needs to prevent One Piece from going down the same path.

While the ‘Chosen One’ narrative is pretty popular in Shonen manga and anime, it doesn’t make the trope likable. After all, it boils down the actions of the ‘chosen one’ to simple fate, as if they never had any control over what was meant to happen anyways.

Jujutsu Kaisen Showed How To Fix Naruto's Most Controversial Storyline
Image
Warning: Spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen's endingJujutsu Kaisen is a revolutionary franchise that made its name by overturning the precedents set by shnen giants like Naruto, and Gege Akutami's masterpiece even subtly challenged Naruto's most controversial twist. Jujutsu Kaisen has always targeted Naruto as a rival, structuring Yuji and Sukuna as a parallel to Naruto and Kurama. It's no surprise, then, that Jujutsu Kaisen would take the most controversial card from Naruto's deck just to show how it can play the card differently.

The card in question is Naruto's controversial reincarnation twist, where Naruto and Sasuke were revealed to be the reincarnation of two brothers, Ashura and Indra. Jujutsu Kaisen would mirror this twist by having Yuji be the son of Sukuna's reincarnated twin brother, with Sukuna being the closest thing to a Sasuke-type rival that Jujutsu Kaisen offers Yuji. The way Jujutsu Kaisen implements this twist seems to...

Masashi Kishimoto is Planning to Give Sarada a Power Upgrade That Beats Boruto: New Theory is Bonkers But 1 Fact Supports it

In the Boruto series, Sasuke and Sakura’s daughter, Sarada Uchiha has slowly emerged as one of the most compelling young shinobi. She is fated to become a key figure in the next generation of ninjas due to her sharp mind, strong leadership qualities, and intense power level. In fact, given her Uchiha lineage and already possessing Mangekyo Sharingan, Sarada may receive a power upgrade that surpasses even Boruto Uzumaki.

Naruto: Would Sasuke Uchiha Survive in These Shonen Anime Universes?
Image
Sasuke Uchiha is one of anime's most iconic and beloved characters. Introduced in the third chapter of the Naruto manga and the first episode of the anime, Sasuke's complex personality and tense relationship with Naruto made him an anime icon. Throughout the Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden story, Sasuke takes part in many epic battles and wins most of them, showing that he is one of the most powerful ninjas in the Naruto universe, just behind the titular Naruto Uzumaki. But how would Sasuke cope if he was whisked out of Hidden Leaf Village and dropped into another anime universe? Would he be able to recreate his successes, or would he quickly taste the pain of defeat?

One reason for Sasuke's numerous successes in the Naruto universe is the sheer number of techniques he knows, as this allows him to mix up his fighting style to tackle whatever threats he encounters.

The classic tale of Naruto Uzumaki, written by Masashi Kishimoto, explores the cycles of war that span generations of history in the shinobi world. Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden chronicle important events that occur during the titular protagonist's lifetime, several of which mirror significant historical moments.

Ancient cycles influence the shinobi world Naruto Uzumaki is born into, but new cycles also manifest during his journey, like his inescapable rivalry with Sasuke Uchiha. One of Naruto's Most Underrated Characters Has a Tragic Backstory
Image
In the annals of Naruto, there are many underrated characters. Admittedly, the series creator, Masashi Kishimoto, tried to give some of them depth and development with longer arcs or fillers in the anime. Indra tsutsuki is one of these characters.

The manga skimped on Indra a bit. But the anime expanded and showed how tragic his past was. This was done to show he wasn't your typical generic villain who wanted to destroy the world. In the process, while Indra might have been a tyrant, he was very much a sympathetic soul who, for all intents and purposes, became the Anakin Skywalker of his era. All he wanted was to create a better world. Granted, his history, upbringing and ambition didn't create the most conducive environment for this.

Ninjutsu in Naruto, Explained
Image
Hagoromo gave chakra to humanity and created Ninshu - which was designed to be a religion of peace. His son, Indra Otsutsuki shunned Ninshu and created ninjutsu by weaponizing chakra. There are two core components to most ninjutsu. Nature transformation primarily molds chakra into an element or substance, while shape transformation decides the size and shape of the jutsu. Ninjutsu has a number of sub-categories - including medical ninjutsu, sealing ninjutsu, and space-time ninjutsu. Each sub-category offers specific uses and techniques.

Ninjutsu is one of the three main jutsu categories in Naruto, with taijutsu and genjutsu being the others. Taijutsu focuses on various martial arts, while genjutsu deals with illusions and false experiences. Ninjutsu is the most nebulous of the three justu categories because the vast majority of ninja techniques are classified as ninjutsu. The following contains spoilers for Chapter 4 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, "The Awakening," by Masashi Kishimoto, Mikio Ikemoto, Mari Morimoto, and Snir Aharon, now available in English from Viz Media.

The new legion, the God Tree Army, is more powerful and dangerous than the previous tsutsuki villains. The God Trees are evolved Claw Grime soldiers with a design aesthetic reminiscent of the tsutsuki. The God Trees have memories of their past abuses and seek revenge.

In the Naruto franchise, it's safe to say the Ōtsutsuki clan were the scariest villains around. These aliens traversed the cosmos, enslaved various worlds and used God Trees to drain the planets of all their chakra. To top it off, the likes of Kaguya, Momoshiki, Kinshiki, Isshiki and Urashiki came off quite formidable, pushing warriors like Naruto and Sasuke to their limits.

However, they were still flesh and blood – aliens who could be cut, killed or sealed away.

Image
In the most recent Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. Sarada Uchiha's immunity to Eida's ability to control the minds of others was in full effect. But the question of how she's been able to resist the power and hide the fact from Eida remains unresolved, unless one considers bloodlines.

In Masashi Kishimoto's Boruto #80, after trying to stop Boruto from running away, Sarada experiences a strange phenomenon. As a result of Eida's power of omnipotence under Kawaki's suggestion, the whole community, except for Kawaki, Boruto, Sarada, and Sumire, is made to think Boruto is the enemy. While earlier, in Chapter 76, Sarada and Sumire displayed immunity to Eida's powers, this recent demonstration is more impressive when considering the strength and output that Eida has released this time. Some fans attribute Sarada's immunity to Mangekyo Sharingan, which she displayed for the first time in Chapter 80. However, this would ignore the fact that her father,...

Until now, Sarada is one of the only two non-Otsutsuki characters in the series who are immune to Eida's power of Omnipotence, and the abilities of her Mangekyo could be the reason why.

Chapter #80 of Boruto is a momentous one, closing off the first part of the manga after a huge cliffhanger. Kawaki has exploited Eida's Otsutsuki ability, aptly called Omnipotence, to rewrite everyone's mind into thinking that he is the son of Naruto while Boruto is the outsider who fled Konoha after killing the Hokage. Sasuke's daughter Sarada is the only one immune to that power (along with Sumire), and the trauma of seeing Boruto hunted by his friends is enough to awaken her Mangekyo Sharingan.
