- In high school, her love for performing in front of audiences led her to the speech and debate team, where she spent every weekend traveling the country competing. As a sophomore, she placed first at the state finals and went on to represent California at the National Tournaments for the next two years.

- She had a daughter, Mia Faye Smelkinson, born on November 28, 2007 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The father is Mitch Smelkinson an entertainment lawyer at Stone, Meyer, Genow, Smelkinson & Binder in Beverly Hills, California.
