Clair Obscur Expedition 33 became a massive hit in 2025. People even started calling it a masterpiece, but I had issues. Not that I don’t love the game, but it had its fair share of flaws. One such flaw was the lack of a retry button. Not being nitpicky, but that stood out to me.
Gladly enough, Sandfall recently launched an update that includes the feature. If you’ve been on the same page, this is a boon. So instead of going to the boss from the previous checkpoint, a single button press will do the trick. As much as I love Soulsborne, this isn’t one. And that is the lovely part of Clair Obscur Expedition 33.
Whenever I tried to retry a boss, I’d oftentimes face unnecessary hurdles. This gameplay loop kind of got on my nerves. Having the option to retry or return to the last checkpoint makes a huge difference.

My favorite episode of The Cosby Show is “Theo’s Holiday.” It’s one from 1986, in which all the Huxtables band together to turn their stately Brooklyn brownstone into a real-world simulation for the family’s only son, Theo — who owes three of his four sisters money (even the pint-sized youngest child, Rudy, who demands her quarter back). When Theo, played by Malcolm-Jamal Warner, asks his parents for an advance on his allowance to settle his debts, Bill Cosby’s patriarch Cliff Huxtable reminds him that he’s already “backed up to your fiftieth birthday.

Xbox’s very own subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, is home to some of the greatest video games ever made, ranging from Aaa to indie. It’s a boon for players looking to dive into new experiences without breaking the bank. There are a plethora of titles to choose from, with more added every month, and there’s always something for everyone.
While Metacritic scores may not be the final judgment for a video game, as some titles are often underappreciated and deserve a higher score, most of the time, the scores are apt. Here, we take a look at the top 10 highest-rated video games by Metacritic scores that are available on Xbox Game Pass.

Malcolm-Jamal Warner, the actor best known for his portrayal of Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has died at the age of 54. Warner accidentally drowned off the coast of Costa Rica on Sunday, with the official cause of death listed as asphyxia. According to Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Department (via the Associated Press), Warner "drowned Sunday afternoon on a beach on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. He was swimming at Playa Cocles in Limon province when a current pulled him deeper into the ocean."
Born on August 18, 1970, Warner began his television career in 1982 with appearances on the shows Matt Houston and Fame. In 1984, he was cast as Theodore "Theo" Huxtable, the only son of Cliff and Clair Huxtable, on The Cosby Show. The series, which followed the lives of an upper-middle-class Black family living in Brooklyn, became a cultural phenomenon and scored massive ratings for NBC. Before The Cosby Show, television...

Just as I was sipping on my morning coffee earlier today, I stumbled across a YouTube short that completely blindsided me.
The creator claimed that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33′s entire cast was based on one real person. My immediate reaction? Classic internet nonsense. We’ve all been burned by those “source: trust me bro” moments one too many times.
But curiosity got the better of me, and I went digging for the actual source. What I found was a fascinating interview that completely changed how I think about character writing in games.
How I discovered Clair Obscur: Expedition 33′s secret writing method
The YouTube short in question made some bold claims about Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, Sandfall Interactive‘s lead writer, using different phases of her own life as blueprints for each character.
Maelle represents her confused teenage years, Lune reflecting her academic twenties, and Sciel drawing from her thirties. Even Gustave...

"My Favorite Post About This Game": Hilarious Clair Obscur Misunderstanding Inspires Dozens Of Memes
Sometimes things in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 get lost in translation or completely misunderstood, and fans aren't always sure if what they're hearing is accurate or if they've simply missed a crucial detail. This is especially the case if you aren't using subtitles during the game, as much of the dialogue can be hard to discern over the background music, atmospheric sounds, etc. But it's not every day that these misunderstandings result in a hilarious meme-worthy moment that has fans in stitches.
Such is the case for Reddit user JRScheetz, who made a post yesterday asking a simple and innocent question: "Who is Harriet?" In a hilarious misunderstanding inspiring dozens of memes on Reddit in response, it turns out that this fan simply misheard the words "Parry it!" This is a common expression that Maelle yells during combat encounters, but it's a little difficult to make out for some players,...

One Build to Rule Them All: This Lune-Kralim Combo Obliterates Bosses in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Lune in Clair: Obscur Expedition 33 is an impressive Mage who can use elemental abilities to squander bosses with ease. But for her abilities to synergise and work in harmony, you need to know what to use and when. Don’t worry, the game will tell you all about it.
But what the game won’t spoon-feed you is how to create the right build with her. We can safely say that whatever build you might be dreaming of, this one’s better. Just make sure that you have Kralim in your grasp, as combining it with Lune’s elemental prowess can one-shot bosses.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33‘s brilliance has players finally putting aside their disdain for turn-based RPGs and realising that their contempt has held them from tapping into beautiful experiences. Combined with real-time elements, and with an insanely passionate team of developers behind, it was bound to be a success from the beginning.
If you’ve completed the highly acclaimed title and are itching to play similar games like it, here are five RPGs that’ll scratch the itch. While they may not be the same as Expedition 33, they’re amazing experiences that you should try if you loved the game.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has become one of the best games to release this year. And there are a lot of reasons for Sandfall Interactive’s success. You can look at any part of the game and find excellence, the music, the graphics design, and the character art. But one place where this is especially true is the story and the writing.
Speaking of which, were you also devastated by the death of Noco in Act 2? The little broomhead is one of the first gestrals we meet in the game and one of the purest souls. But did you know that you can resurrect him? You can do that by simply following Monoco’s relationship quest.

Noco first appears in Flying Waters after you leave the Manor with Maelle during Act I. He is a little Gestral with maroon and black hair.

While it does not exactly take after the Souls genre in the traditional ways, the recent hit Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 does bring the parrying and dodging fun to the party, despite being a turn-based RPG. With its beautiful visuals and Soulslike combat, the title already walks a tightrope between challenge and reward.
However, fans want more, and for some, they want less. Xbox used to be glorious back in the day, before PlayStation took it with some of its exclusives. Don’t mean to sound like an old man talking about the good ol’ days, but it’s the truth. And I blame Xbox completely for it, as they got busy with Game Pass with no good games to show.
There are some first-party games, and I agree. But, Xbox has been on a nostalgia-baiting streak for some time now. I understand the early 2000s were good times, but can’t you make 2025 special for what it is?

Stellar Blade is finally coming to PC on June 11, and you can enjoy it! If you’re living in the regions where it’s available. Looks like PlayStation didn’t learn their lesson after their massive blunder with Helldivers 2. Not only that, even Denuvo has also been implemented in the game, which makes it all the worse.
However, there is a small misunderstanding that needs to be cleared. The region lock issue wasn’t supposed to happen. The PlayStation Network linking was completely optional, and developers are confused as well. As of now, they are working to “fix” the issue so that everyone can enjoy.

I have been a bit skeptical about Doom: The Dark Ages, as it was more of a prequel. Moreover, I got into the hype of Grand Theft Auto 6, which caused me to buy a PlayStation 5 instead before any surprising price hike. That was a reasonable move, but sadly, my bad luck has struck again.
Doom: The Dark Ages marks another win for Xbox after the release of both Clair Obscur and Oblivion Remaster. Though it has to be mentioned, I ain’t that sad, as I still got my handy dandy PC. Xbox Game Pass here to the rescue. Alas, PlayStation fans won’t get to enjoy that.

One Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 fan has discovered a cleverly hidden Easter egg referencing Final Fantasy 7 within the hit new RPG. The surprise hit game takes elements from classic RPGs and provides a unique spin on them, from its historical French setting to its fleshed-out, memorable characters. It's no secret that Clair Obscur was heavily inspired by RPGs and JRPGs, including Final Fantasy.
The Easter egg discovery, made by InterestingSafety612 on Reddit, shows a screenshot from Expedition 33 that's likely familiar to any Final Fantasy fan: the iconic logo image of Final Fantasy 7. When placed side by side, the way the Redditor does in their post, the resemblance is undeniable. If you are a game studio reading this by any chance, then let me tell you, the answer is yes, in case you were going to ask if you should be afraid of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Sandfall Interactive has worked on delivering a passionate project that is now blowing up, and there seems to be no stopping in sight.
Expedition 33 proves that originality sells. For years, AA and indie studios have been playing it safe, sticking to Soulslikes, pixel nostalgia, or similar genres, but only Sandfall Interactive seemed brave enough to go all out on a game that could have gone unnoticed by the entire world, a gamble that is now paying off.

Xbox is securing victories like no other, especially setting a player count record for both Oblivion Remaster and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. This success should make Todd Howard realise that The Elder Scrolls 6 should get added to Xbox Game Pass.
Bethesda was doing fine before the Microsoft acquisition. But truth be told, it is doing better than before under the new management. Many players opt to play Bethesda-published games through the Game Pass. This doesn’t only include The Elder Scrolls franchise, but Fallout as well.
Not forgetting to mention, Hi-Fi Rush, Deathloop, and more games published through Bethesda Softworks, and all of these titles have done well via the Xbox Game Pass. Just like one plus one makes two, Bethesda should rely on Microsoft to release its anticipated RPG on Game Pass.

When Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was first teased back in mid-2024, it didn’t take long for it to stir up enough hype surrounding its visuals and combat style. The game has since landed on Xbox Game Pass just next to another contender – The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster. Both these titles made headlines, and given the surprise launch of Oblivion’s remake, some wondered if the former would be overshadowed over time.
But it didn’t. Bringing the turn-based genre back to life, Expedition 33 did extremely well since its launch. Here’s what the publishers claimed helped the game stand up to Bethesda’s remaster.
The secret to Clair Obscur’s success
In a recent conversation with The Game Business, Kepler Interactive’s Matthew Handrahan shared his views on Expedition 33’s release and more. Some felt that releasing the game around the same time as the remaster of one...

It wasn’t unexpected, but didn’t expect this soon. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, only released last week, and the internet is doing its thing. You know exactly what’s going on if you’ve read the title. This proves one thing for sure: some people need a timeout from the internet.
Everyone has the right to express themselves and do whatever they please. Welcome to the Internet by Bo Burnham becomes more relatable as time passes. People who paid their bills for questionable content on the internet, maybe a line should be drawn.
Clair Obscur is a masterpiece that was released, and pretty sure everyone appreciates it. But again, there’s another side that appreciates it in an unconventional way.

When The Bill Cosby Show aired in the ’80s, it wasn’t just another sitcom, it was a cultural movement. Bill Cosby, famed for his sweater-wearing, dad-joke glory, became the face of wholesome TV. For eight seasons, the Huxtables brought laughs, life lessons, and landmark representation to millions of households.
But behind the scenes and years later, the story took a darker, more complicated turn. From soaring ratings to sudden rerun removals, the once-beloved show’s legacy is now tangled in controversy. So, why did The Cosby Show end, and how did it go from TV royalty to virtually erased? Let’s break it down.
Why did The Bill Cosby Show get cancelled?
Let’s rewind to the ’80s. Before the iconic Huxtables ever entered our living rooms, Bill Cosby starred in The Bill Cosby Show, a different series that aired from 1969 to 1971 on NBC. It was a modest success but short-lived,...

Xbox Game Pass is a great way to give games great exposure as users pay a fraction of the cost. Since Sandfall Interactive is a new studio and debuting their first game ever, it was a sound decision. Though, after seeing the sales of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, I believe it wasn’t necessary.
While many people are enjoying the game via Xbox Game Pass, Kepler Interactive shared their one million copies sold milestone recently, showing how much players love Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and are ready to pay full price. Thus proving, it is doing well just because it is available on Xbox’s subscription platform.

Do you miss playing beautiful RPGs that are not washed-out slops and want to experience something similar yet better than the entire Final Fantasy series? Then the wait is over, my fellow adventurer, because Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will cater to all your needs.
Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 is the latest buzz right now, and we are absolutely loving the hype that the title is bringing in, along with the somber musical scores by Lorien Testard. While the gameplay of the title has a nostalgic feeling to it, it is not your typical turn-based experience. Let’s delve deeper into this.
Does Expedition 33 use turn-based combat or real-time mechanics?
Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 is the debut game for a small French developer company known as Sandfall Interactive, and although the gameplay is heavily inspired by classic Japanese RPGs like Dragon Quest or Persona, it does not quite follow the rules of traditional turn-based combat.

When Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 officially launched today, on April 24, 2025, it marked not just the debut of Sandfall Interactive but the end of a journey born from a single scene in Final Fantasy Xv. For Guillaume Broche, CEO of Sandfall Interactive and director of Clair Obscur, a single scene from Square Enix’s iconic road trip RPG became the emotional blueprint for Expedition 33.
At the center of the emotional and narrative DNA of Expedition 33, we have a single, deceptively casual moment from Final Fantasy Xv. It’s the scene where Noctis and his friends were on a road trip, simply talking and laughing in their car. That scene, as it turns out, inspired everything.

Shiny Pokémon are some of the rarest and most desirable Pokémon in the games. This is funny, considering the significant difference between them is the slight color change. Outside of that, they're entirely the same as regular Pokémon. However, they still make players dedicate weeks to hunting for their favorite Shiny Pokémon in their favorite Pokémon game. For many, some of this love of Shiny Pokémon started in the anime with the sudden appearance of differently colored Pokémon.
Like in the games, the Pokémon anime will also randomly debut a Shiny Pokémon with a powerful or quirky trainer. These Shiny Pokémon will often drum up hype for an eventual gym battle or call attention to an upcoming movie. The reveal of a Shiny Pokémon is always monumental and should be remembered as the series continues.

While Julie Bowen might not see herself as a comedic performer, her performance in the Emmy-winning sitcom Modern Family tells a different story. Portraying the role of Clair Dunphy, the actress delivered some of the funniest and most memorable moments of the show, blending neurotic energy, impeccable timing, and heartfelt sincerity into her character.

While Clair is often considered one of the most ‘annoying’ characters on the show, it’s that very intensity that made her stand out, solidifying Bowen as one of the funniest characters in Modern Family, a recognition she truly deserves.

Gina Carano may have become known for appearing as Cara Dune in the Star Wars series The Mandalorian, and subsequently being controversially fired from it, but before that she appeared in a long-forgotten revenge thriller, Daughter of the Wolf. Five years after its release, the film is now seeing a huge resurgence on Freevee, landing at number seven on the global chart. It seems that regardless of the actress' issues with Disney, she still has plenty of fans who are turning out to watch this movie from back when none of that was a problem.

Director Robert Zemeckis' 2000 ghost movie What Lies Beneath has several layers to its mystery, but here's why Claire was being haunted. What Lies Beneath has oddly faded a bit from the popular consciousness in recent years, despite being directed by one of the most decorated filmmakers in Hollywood, and starring two hall of fame-caliber A-list actors in its leading roles. While reviews from critics were mixed, What Lies Beneath was a big box office success, nearly tripling its $100 million budget worldwide.
While What Lies Beneath was received well by both viewers and critics, there's a chance the twisty plot led to some confusion over what exactly happened to Claire (Michelle Pfeiffer), and why the ghost was haunting her. The movie blended many aspects of both psychological and supernatural horror, with the truth behind what was happening in the classic haunting movie being deliberately hazy right up until the end. However,...

Modern Family was a sitcom game-changer which embraced a broader concept of family. While the show was a massive hit with fans during its 11 season run, Julie Bowen didn't think she had what it took to land the role of Claire Dunphy.
During an appearance on The Three Questions with Andy Richter Podcast, Bowen recalled how baffled she was when her agents mentioned Modern Family. "I was like, 'I can't tell a joke, I'm not funny, don't give me those three-jokes-a-page kind of things," she said before explain that her team had more faith in her ability than she did. "My managers were always very supportive, like, 'You know what? Helen Hunt isn't funny.' I go, 'What?' They're like, 'Not technically.' [So] I said, 'She just won like five Emmys.' They're like, 'Yes. So she's funny in a different way. She's not three-jokes-a-page funny. And yet she is wildly funny.

As “Reasonable Doubt’s” Jax Stewart becomes the newest Black woman lawyer to grace our television screens, TheWrap wanted to take a trip down memory lane by listing the most iconic Black woman TV lawyers our time.
For fans, these roles may just be the characters we show up to watch in our favorite shows weekly, but for the actresses that play them and the writers that write them, their existence has impacted on-screen representation for Black women as well as the careers of Black Hollywood actresses.
That rings true for Kerry Washington’s role in “Scandal.” While we primarily recognize Olivia Pope as a crisis manager in the series, she was a former lawyer who often exhibited those tactics from her legal career. Until Washington signed on for the role — which ABC originally suggested a non-Black actress take — there hadn’t been a drama series with a leading Black woman on TV for 37 years.

May learned from Ash, and eventually became a top-tier Coordinator. Gym Leaders like Clair, Korrina, and Bea exhibit exceptional skill. Champions like Cynthia and Iris represent the absolute heights of Pokmon training.
While Pokmon primarily follows the adventures of Ash Ketchum, Ash has encountered plenty of powerful trainers throughout his journey, and gender has never been a problem when it comes to being the greatest. The anime has showcased a variety of skilled female trainers over the years, be they friends of Ash or champions of an entire region.
As with male trainers, the best female trainers will be those who've proven themselves in battle, and who hold positions which reflect their ability, like Champion or Gym Leader. The World Coronation Series seen in Pokmon Journeys provides some excellent data indicating who the strongest female trainers truly are, although not every skilled female trainer in the series is known to have participated in the tournament.

The Pokmon anime showcases a wide variety of trainers and battling styles, making it difficult to determine the best among them. Raihan, Clair, Alain, Iris, Lance, Diantha, Steven Stone, Cynthia, Leon, and Ash Ketchum are some of the top trainers in the series. These trainers exhibit strong bonds with their Pokmon and demonstrate that heart is just as important as strength and intelligence in becoming a skilled Pokmon trainer.
One of the best things about the Pokmon anime is seeing so many of the games' iconic trainers duke it out, leading many fans to wonder which of the anime's trainers is truly the best there ever was. With over 1,200 episodes, many of which feature new trainers with unique strategies, it's difficult to parse who breaks through the ranks as some of the best trainers the franchise has ever seen.

The iconic library confession scene in The Breakfast Club was ad-libbed by the actors, adding authenticity to the emotional moment. Each character's unique reason for detention reveals deeper struggles, showcasing common ground beyond stereotypes. Director John Hughes allowed for improvisation, creating a powerful scene that still resonates with audiences today.
One of The Breakfast Club's most memorable scenes was reportedly ad-libbed by the actors on set. The scene where the teens sit together in the library and confess why they are each in detention is one of the film's most emotional moments. It also makes The Breakfast Club more than just an 80s teen comedy; it is a commentary on teenage life that still resonates today. Ash's Snorlax in Pokmon is strong and showcased in intense battles in the manga, not the anime. In Pokmon Adventures, Red uses Snorlax effectively in the Indigo Plateau League to secure victories. The anime missed showcasing Snorlax's true potential, delaying impressive battles and party combinations for Ash.
Known most for its laziness, Ash's Snorlax in Pokmon is actually one of the strongest on his team. However, its true potential isn't truly showcased until a couple of seasons into the anime. Contrarily, the manga, Pokmon Adventures shows exactly why trainers shouldn't underestimate a Snorlax in battle - within just the series' third volume.
Beginning serialization in 1997, Pokmon Adventures' first arc spans three volumes and follows Red, a trainer in the Kanto region. The manga has the creative team of Hidenori Kusaka and Mato. Red has several Pokmon, including a Poliwhirl, Pikachu, Aerodactyl, and a Snorlax, among others.

The effects of reality TV and social media on the human psyche are still being explored. In an era where anyone can put themselves on camera at a moment’s notice, our most frustrating moments can be captured in the blink of an eye. Hulu’s new documentary, The Contestant, follows the story of Nasubi. American audiences may not know Nasubi, the comedian turned reality star lived in a small windowless room without or consistent food for over a year.
For his time on the show Denpa Shonen, Nasubi was stripped of his clothes and lived exclusively in this room. His only sustenance came from winning awards from magazine competitions. His goal was to win prizes and gifts with a total value of over 1 million Yen (or under $9000). Unbeknownst to him, Nasubi’s days were recapped on Denpa Shonen, and his room was live-streamed for over a year.
