‘Chupa’ (2023). Movie on Netflix. Review: A Juvenile Adventure with a “Special” Friend
Image
Chupa is a Netflix movie directed by Jonás Cuarón starring Evan Whitten and Demian Bichir.

The chupacabra is a legend about an animal that feeds on the blood of goats. Coming all the way from Mexico, the story has become a classic horror story.

This time, Jonás Cuarón gives the story a more youthful twist and turns it into a heartwarming tale of friendship and adventure in the style of the 80’s and those charming and forgettable films that followed in the wake of E.T.

It’s fun to see Christian Slater again.

Chupa (2023) Movie Review

Chupa is a youth film created with all the 80’s machinations of these movies that, without inventing anything new at all, makes them work again to perfection demonstrating that the formula, although already very worn, still works with the passage of time.

One of those naive and charming movies that has its fascinating...

Tubi's Action Western 'Butch Cassidy & The Wild Bunch' Asylum Trailer
Image
"That's a chance I'm willing to take." Available to watch on Tubi already is an action western rip-off spoof movie called Butch Cassidy & The Wild Bunch, from the Sharknado director Anthony C. Ferrante. One of The Asylum's latest offerings, this western combines the title of tow different classics - Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) and The Wild Bunch (1969). When Butch Cassidy and his colorful band of outlaws commit a series of high-profile heists, including a train robbery, a posse of newly-hired guns and seasoned killers working for the Pinkerton Detective Agency are tasked with taking down Cassidy and his rowdy gang. Starring Ross Jirgl, Jeffrey Combs, Bruce Dern, Jilon VanOver, Nikki Leigh, Dee Wallace, Geoff Meed, Alex Knight, and Megan Hensley. Yeah this looks as bad as you're expecting, maybe even worse, but that's exactly what The Asylum is going for every time. How trashy can they make it?...

’500 Mph Storm’ DVD Review
Stars: Casper Van Dien, Michael Beach, Sarah Lieving, Bryan Head, Keith Meriweather, Chad Brummett, James Lawrence Sicard, Dale O’Malley, Hayley Derryberry, Alex Knight | Written by Kuang Lee, Hank Woon Jr. | Directed by Daniel Lusko

When an experiment into a new source of natural fuel goes disastrously wrong, a rash of massive hurricanes rips across North America. A scientist, originally responsible for the design of the new power plant but who has walked away from the project, must get his family to safety before the hurricanes merge, creating a “hypercane” with the power to wipe America off the map.

A ridiculous plot, terrible CGI and a former Hollywood superstar slumming it with a bunch of B-list actors… Seems like a step back for mockbuster kings The Asylum if you ask me – especially when their recent films have see the company step up production values and storytelling to craft some great direct-to-market films.

‘The Condemned 2′ Review
Stars: Randy Orton, Eric Roberts, Wes Studi, Steven Michael Quezada, Bill Stinchcomb, Alex Knight, Dylan Kenin, Michael Sheets, Morse Bicknell, Mark Sivertsen | Written by Alan B. McElroy | Directed by Roel Reiné

Like The Marine franchise, which featured a new WWE superstar in the lead role in each consecutive film, The Condemned 2 sees Randy Orton (who also took over the lead from John Cena for 12 Rounds 2) stars as bounty hunter turned hunted man, Will Tanner; and – like Orton’s 12 Rounds 2 – this film pales in comparison to the original, abandoning everything that made that Running Man-esque action film so much fun.

The Condemned was one of WWE Studios earliest – and best received – movies, alongside The Marine and See No Evil. And whilst those two films have already had sequels, it’s taken almost ten years for someone to put together a sequel to the Stone Cold Steve Austin starring original.
