Pop-rock singer Brittney Cleary was born on May 11, 1988 in Albany, New York. She attended Mohonasen's Draper Middle School in Schenectady & Clayton A. Bouton High School in Voorheesville. Her exceptional singing ability was first discovered by her grandmother at a karaoke hangout in Albany. She went on to win a local talent contest & sang live on the air at a local radio station. Her family moved to Nashville to jump start her musical career. She first found success in 2001 with the pop tune I.M. Me. She released her debut album Everything I Wished For on the Free Falls label in 2002. It album went to #45 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart. In the summer of 2002, she signed w/ Jive Records, who asked her to change her first name from Brittney to Nikki because it already had another artist named Britney on its roster. She released her second album "Nikki Cleary" in 2003. She supported her sophomore album by performing mini-concerts at shopping malls & middle schools. Moreover, the bouncy single 1-2-3 made the Top 30 on Billboard's Radio Disney charts. Her songs have been featured on the soundtracks to the teen comedy films Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Mean Girls & Aquamarine.
