12 years before the debut of Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? (or DanMachi), J.C.Staff won the hearts of anime fans with another harem fantasy called Maburaho. Now, the elusive early 2000s hit has returned to streaming in a surprise release.
On June 3, X (formerly Twitter) user @Wtk spotlighted Crunchyroll's acquisition of Maburaho, which until recently was not available to stream in the U.S. on any official subscription service. While it is available to purchase on DVD, English-dubbed copies of the series are relatively rare and often exorbitantly priced. The 22-year-old harem series was added to Crunchyroll's anime catalog around the same time as D.N.Angel, another hit IP from Japanese multimedia conglomerate, Kadokawa Shoten. Maburaho, which consists of 24 episodes, initially aired from October 2003 to April 2004.
