Friday the 13th: pages from script for unmade sequel to 2009 film reveal what happened to Jason’s dad
Image
Last Friday, which happened to be a Friday the 13th, screenwriters Damian Shannon and Mark Swift shared some pages from the script they wrote for the unmade sequel to the 2009 version of Friday the 13th (watch it Here). In those pages, we got to read the description of a scene where a character would have been killed by iconic masked slasher Jason Voorhees while riding down a zip line. But those weren’t the only pages Shannon and Swift shared from the script last Friday. They also unveiled a couple pages that reveal what happened to Jason’s dad – and you can read them in this embed:

Ok, since it's #FridayThe13th how about one more? Our sequel script had lots of stuff for long time fans, including returning characters! Let's reveal two of them now: https://t.co/WhNTVuo2Nx pic.twitter.com/yUdnv2L6bL

Friday the 13th writers share death scene from unmade sequel to 2009 film
Image
Damian Shannon and Mark Swift were the writers who cracked the Freddy vs. Jason story and pulled that project out of development hell, where it had been trapped for a decade. Six years later, when Warner Bros. teamed up with Paramount and Platinum Dunes for a Friday the 13th reboot, Shannon and Swift were again the writers. (You can hear all about that Friday the 13th in our latest Wtf Happened video.) Since the reboot made over $91 million at the global box office on a budget of $19 million when it was released in February of 2009, it was no surprise when it was announced that it was going to receive a sequel, to be shot in 3-D and released on August 13, 2010. Then the studios couldn’t agree on the money split, so the sequel was shelved… but not before Shannon and Swift had already written the full script. Today, to celebrate Friday the 13th,...

MI5 Review: Cruise Shows Why After All These Years He Remains a Movie Superstar
'Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation': Tom Cruise. 'Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation': Tom Cruise, the last action hero There are two impossible missions in the latest Mission: Impossible. The first involves Chechen terrorists, political assassinations, the Vienna Opera House, and a car that unlocks when the user places his hand on the driver's side window (Detroit, get on that). The other impossible mission, one that is not only accepted and completed, but conquered and victoriously ground into dust, is proving that 53-year old Tom Cruise is still an action star. As Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation demonstrates with cruel ease, Cruise isn't just an action hero. In the post-movie star age, he is, with apologies to a certain Austrian bodybuilder whose drawing power is all but terminated, the last action hero. What makes him thus is not just his supreme confidence, compact good looks, and million dollar smile. The camera has...

Tom Cruise is back to save the world — again — as Ethan Hunt in “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation,” the fifth installment of the blockbuster spy series. The action hero was joined by his fellow stars of the hit franchise for the film’s New York City premiere at Duffy Square in Times Square on Monday, where they proved that their secret agents were just as stylish as James Bond. Cruise, who looked suave in a blue suit, walked the red carpet alongside Jeremy Renner, female leads Rebecca Ferguson and America Olivo, Alec Baldwin (with wife Hilaria), Simon Pegg, producer J.J. Abrams and director Christopher McQuarrie.

'Mission: Impossible 5' Clips, Featurettes and TV Spots Bring Big Action
Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (1996)
You want to see more of Mission: Impossible 5? We got a whole lot more! Paramount Pictures has released 3 featurettes, 2 new clips, 6 TV spots and a look at the Vienna premiere for Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, with just seven days left until this action movie hits theaters on July 31. The first clip features a closer look at one of the scenes we've seen in practically every trailer, the daring E-brake maneuver pulled off by Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt, while a frantic Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) loses his cool in the passenger seat. What we haven't seen before from this sequence is Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa drawing some of the enemy motorcyclists away from Ethan and Benji, before Hunt takes out two enemies with one precise move.

The second clip features a scene where Ethan and Ilsa escape to the roof, where Ethan plans an unorthodox and possibly unsafe escape.

Following the three Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation TV spots released earlier this week, Paramount Pictures has debuted two new clips featuring a pair of epic chase sequences. Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (1996)
Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt learns why the Syndicate has been so hard to find in the first of three new TV spots from Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. The video reveals that the Syndicate is comprised of Imf agents who were already thought to be dead, along with more footage of Tom Cruise hanging off a moving plane, in what may be his most daring stunt yet. Each new TV spot and trailer we see features the actor/daredevil hanging off the plane at a higher altitude then the next, but it remains to be seen how high up Ethan Hunt gets before actually "boarding" the plane.

These videos also give us more footage featuring Jeremy Renner as Brandt, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn and Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, all reprising their roles from Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol. We also get more from new cast additions such as Rebecca Ferguson and Alec Baldwin,...

Tom Cruise at an event for Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his Imf team take on the anti-imf operatives known as The Syndicate in an action-packed international trailer for Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation. This footage gives us an extended look at Tom Cruise's death-defying plane stunt, and more insight into how The Syndicate operates, essentially setting them up for a big fall. If this trailer is any indication, Mission: Impossible 5 could surely be the most action-packed movie in the storied Mission Impossible franchise.

Along with the plane stunt, this footage also shows Tom Cruise performing an underwater stunt, which doesn't go well, leaving us on a cliffhanger. There is still very little we know about The Syndicate, and why they are trying to destroy the Imf,...

Cruise Performs Laugh-Out-Loud Stunts in MI5 Trailer (with Bonus Teaser)
'Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation' star Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt 'Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation' trailer: Movie stunt combo "Desperate times. Desperate measures," says Tom Cruise aka Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation trailer aka the Mission: Impossible 5 and/or MI5 trailer. Whatever you call it, that particular line could be read in a number of ways: Tom Cruise's superstardom is in the doldrums – at least that's what we hear from those who see reality only through U.S.-focused lenses – and he needs all the box-office help he can get. Hence, MI5. Hollywood is in dire need of a mammoth domestic blockbuster following a year of mediocre-performing tentpoles at the U.S. box office. Hence, MI5. The world's socioeconomic fabric is about to unravel. Hence, MI5 – so humankind can go with a bang. Not only with a bang, but with mirth as well.

'Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation' Trailer #2 Launches!
Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible (1996)

Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, whose team take on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the Syndicate - an International rogue organization as highly skilled as they are, committed to destroying the Imf. This trailer features a better look at the death-defying plane stunt which we showed you in a November set video.

The trailer comes just a few days after production wrapped on the sequel, which gives director Christopher McQuarrie just over three months to complete post-production before it hits theaters on July 31. The action-thriller was originally set to hit theaters this Christmas, before Paramount pushed the release to July 31 earlier this year. Do you think the filmmaker and his team have enough time to complete post-production?

Tom Cruise at an event for Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Now, don't get too excited! Something is happening tomorrow, this Sunday March 22nd, in regards to Mission: Impossible 5. But we'd don't know what that will be just yet, or just how big this reveal will be. Are they releasing a trailer? Possibly. Official photos? Maybe. The title? That sounds about right.

Stars Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg have spent the day teasing this big announcement on their personal Twitter pages. Joining in on the fun are director Christopher McQuarrie, the official Mission: Impossible 5 Twitter account, and Skydance productions. They make it clear that the fuse has been lit, and something will definitely be let out of the bag tomorrow.

Mission: Impossible 5 wrapped just 10 short days ago. And that is definitely enough time for Christopher McQuarrie to have cut together a teaser trailer. In a recent Q&A, he confirmed that a title and photos were also on the way very soon.

'Mission: Impossible 5' Wraps Production
Christopher McQuarrie
Seven months after principal photography began, director Christopher McQuarrie announced on his Twitter page today that production has wrapped on Mission: Impossible 5. The action-packed sequel, which brings back Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames, was previously set for a Christmas Day release, but was bumped to a July 31 release back in January, giving the filmmaker less than five months to complete post-production. Christopher McQuarrie revealed during a Twitter Q&A session last weekend that the first trailer will be coming soon, although he didn't give a specific date.

No official plot details have surfaced yet, but the director also indicated during the Q&A that the full title will also be announced soon, most likely with the trailer's debut. The previously-mentioned cast members are joined by Mission: Impossible newcomers Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin, America Olivo, Sean Harris and Jingchu Zhang. One...

'Mission: Impossible 5' Details Revealed, Trailer Coming Soon
Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner in Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)
Aside from the occasional set video or photo, and the fact that production halted for exact one week so that the ending could be prepped, we still don't know much about Mission: Impossible 5. That all changed today when director Christopher McQuarrie jumped on Twitter to answer some fan questions. In a surprising move, he offered up plenty of information, and wasn't shy about what we can expect to see this summer.

Christopher McQuarrie reveals that a trailer is on its way quite soon. Though, he doesn't give an exact date. The fact that he just did this Q&A indicates that it could be here as early as this coming week. He also went into why Paula Patton and Maggie Q did not return. They simply were not available.

The highlights of the Q&A include the fact that not only will we be getting a trailer, but also the first poster,...

'Mission: Impossible 5' Resumes Shooting; Photos Revealed
Tom Cruise at an event for Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Yesterday, it was widely reported that production had halted on the set of Mission: Impossible 5 so that the big climactic finale could be reworked. It seems that report, which generated at The Hollywood Reporter, was a little late in its arrival. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed today that, while shooting did stop, it was just over the course of this past week, and everything was back up and running last night.

In fact, a number of photos have come in from the set, as Tom Cruise filmed a late night action sequence as Ethan Hunt, running through the streets of London. Entertainment Weekly reports that the ending of the film only needed to be slightly tweaked, and what we see in these images is the revised finale as it comes together. The initial THR report claims that director Christopher McQuarrie and Tom Cruise were working with a third unidentified writer...

'Mission: Impossible 5' Stops Shooting to Find New Ending
Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, and Jeremy Renner in Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015)
Last month, Paramount Pictures made the surprising move to shift their upcoming action sequel Mission: Impossible 5 from December 25, 2015 to July 31, 2015. However, with the release just over five months away, production has halted for "a week or so" after the ending was deemed "unsatisfactory." Writer-director Christopher McQuarrie is currently working on a new ending with an unidentified "writer friend" who will not be paid or credited for his or her work. Here's what an anonymous source told The Hollywood Reporter about the shutdown.

"Chris, Tom [Cruise] and a third person wanted to take a minute to get from what they thought was a good place to a more perfect place."

The source added that the July 31 release date is still intact, and if the studio was really worried about the status of Mission: Impossible 5, they would have pushed the release date. This isn't the first time that Paramount has had third-act story issues.
