The movie is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on May 23. Ahead of its streaming release, the film debuted with a disappointing 45% score from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes.

Fountain of Youth originally debuted with only 33% from the critics, but it has since improved slightly up to 38%, and then 45%, as more reviews came in. The debut score for a new film based on a short story by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin has been revealed on Rotten Tomatoes, and it is not good. In the Lost Lands, starring Dave Bautista and Milla Jovovich, has debuted on the review aggregator with a “Rotten” 18% critic score.

Martin’s In the Lost Lands short story was first featured in a 1982 anthology of fantasy stories titled Amazons II. The author is widely known for creating the Game of Thronesseries of novels upon which the hugely successful HBO series of the same title was based.

The untold story of the early life of England’s most iconic Queen has set its release date and issued the trailer and key art.

Starz will bow the drama at midnight on Sunday, June 12 on its app, all streaming and on-demand platforms, and internationally on the StarzPlay premium streaming platform across all territories.

On linear, it will debut on Starz at 9 Pm Et/Pt in the US and Canada.

Long before she ascended the throne, young Elizabeth Tudor, played by Alicia von Rittberg (Fury, “Charité,” “Genius”), was an orphaned teenager who became embroiled in the political and sexual politics of the English court.

The death of King Henry VIII sees his nine-year-old son Edward, played by Oliver Zetterström (The Midnight Gang, “The Romanoffs”) take the throne and sets into motion a dangerous scramble for power, when Elizabeth, Edward, and their sister, Mary, played by Romola Garai find themselves pawns in a game between the great families of England and the powers of Europe who vie for control of the country.

Additional key players include King Henry’s widow, Catherine Parr, played by Jessica Raine, Thomas Seymour, played by Tom Cullen, the new King’s uncle, who quickly marries the widowed Catherine, but soon takes an interest in the teenage Elizabeth and Duke of Somerset, played by John Heffernan (“The Pursuit of Love,” “The Crown”), who loses no time in claiming the position of Lord Protector for himself when the old King dies.

Becoming Elizabeth is created and written by playwright and television screenwriter Anya Reiss who also serves as executive producer with The Forge’s George Ormond and George Faber with Lisa Osborne producing.

World War I is a period usually given short shrift in social studies classes. Neither of my kids spent time on this vital conflict, since it set the stage for the next 75 years of history. For many, the No Man’s Land scene in Wonder Woman may have been the only time they saw what the battle may have looked like.

As a result, San Mendes’ 1917 was a welcome entry to the history on film canon, deserving the ten Academy Award nominations among many other accolades. The film, out on disc now from Universal Home Entertainment, is a visually stunning work that should be seen.

This is the latest effort from director Sam Mendes, who most recently directed a couple of entries in the James Bond franchise, Skyfall and Spectre. This time around, Mendes is taking on World War I. It seems almost inevitable that every great director will tackle a war movie at some point or another. Though, there seem to be far more World War II movies out there, which is part of what makes this intriguing. And, based on what we're seeing in this final trailer, it's going to be a chaotic and cinematic spectacle made all the more compelling since it's based on real events.

Good Omens star David Tennant is to play infamous Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen in an ITV drama from the makers of Sky and HBO’s Catherine The Great.

New Pictures’ three-part miniseries, Des, is based on the Brian Masters book Killing For Company, in which the author cooperated with Nilsen to get inside the mind of a man who murdered at least 15 men and boys between 1978 and 1983. Nilsen died in jail last year.

Joining Tennant is The Crown star Jason Watkins, who will play Masters, and Line Of Duty actor Daniel Mays, who features as Detective Chief Inspector Peter Jay. The story charts Nilsen’s arrest and trial, through the prism of the three men.

Des was developed by Luke Neal and Lewis Arnold, with Neal writing the first two episodes and Kelly Jones penning the third. Willow Grylls, Kim Varvell, Charlie Pattinson, Elaine Pyke, Neal, Lewis Arnold and Tennant are the executive producers.

Exclusive: New Republic Pictures has become a co-financier of the Sam Mendes-directed WWI film 1917. The producer-financier, run by CEO Brian Oliver, has been behind such films as the Elton John biopic Rocketman. Oliver’s earlier films at Cross Creek include Hacksaw Ridge and Black Swan.

Sam Mendes is working on his first feature since 2015’s Spectre, and it looks like the acclaimed director has used his industry clout to hire a whole host of some of the biggest British actors around. The film is 1917, which will center on a single day in the First World War.

George MacKay (Captain Fantastic) and Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones) will star as two young British soldiers serving in the conflict, but the supporting cast will feature the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth, Richard Madden and Mark Strong. Sherlock fans will be happy to hear that Andrew Scott is also on board, meaning TV’s Holmes and Moriarty will reunite for the movie. Likewise, Kingsman lovers will be pleased with Galahad (Firth) and Merlin (Strong) teaming up again.

Shooting will start on 1917 in just a few days on April 1st, with filming taking place on location in England and Scotland.

The film follows two young British soldiers, previously announced as being played by George MacKay (“Captain Fantastic”) and Dean-Charles Cahapman (“Game of Thrones”), on a single day at the height of World War I.

Universal had announced late last year that it had given a limited release date of Dec. 25 to “1917” and then go wide two weeks later on Jan. 10, 2020. Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners is producing “1917” through its DreamWorks Pictures brand.
