Twitter Eviscerates the 'True Detective' Season 2 Finale
"True Detective" Season 2 just got hate-watched into the ground. The 1.5-hour finale aired last night, and Twitter was ready with knives. Maybe expectations were too high after Season 1, but from the first episode, fans were confused, disappointed, confused, depressed, still confused, and bored. When the series ended, there was still mass confusion and disappointment.

To be fair, there are some TD2 defenders out there -- fans who claim to have liked the plot, characters, tone and finale resolution, with some arguing that the haters were just too dumb to follow along or forgot that Season 1 was also pretentious and incomprehensible. But some of defenders just seem to want to pride themselves on swimming against the stream, while some of the critics just seem to want to pride themselves on coming up with clever insults.

Either way, the result was an onslaught of (sometimes hilarious) opinions during the finale's airing. #TrueDetectiveSeason...

This one was written and directed by Max Isaacson. He only just finished directing his first short film, Whispers, but he has credits on a number of other shorts, a bunch of which I’ve actually seen and loved. Fun Size Horror Film 3: Jackson Stewart’s “Ninja Masters”
Our Fun Size Horror lineup continues with “Ninja Masters.” I've actually known director Jackson Stewart for some time now (and was assigned this short randomly), so while I can tell you that he's one of Larchmont Village's most accomplished raconteurs, you might be more interested in his official bio. Our Fun Size Horror lineup continues with “Voice.” This one is about an eerie voice that torments a young woman and is actually made by the former editor-in-chief of ScreenCrave, Mali Elfman. Fun Size Horror Poster and Collider’s Official Release Line-Up Including Work from Josh C. Waller, Zeke Pinheiro, Mali Elfman and More
As we told you a couple of weeks ago, Collider is teaming up with a little something called Fun Size Horror, a collective of talented filmmakers who love the genre. It isn’t easy getting independent films off the ground, so Zeke Pinheiro figured, he knows a whole bunch of folks eager to make movies, so why not pool all their resources and make them together? That idea resulted in the completion of 31 short horror films. But even then, there’s the issue of distribution and that’s where Collider, DreadCentral, BloodyDisgusting, ShockTillYouDrop and HitFix come in. Beginning October 27th, each outlet will unveil a new Fun Size Horror short. That short will be available for 24 hours and then after that period, a new short film will take its place. Hit the jump for more on the initiative and to check out the Fun Size Horror poster as well. There...

31 Horror Movie Shorts Teased in Fun Size Horror Trailer
I have an enjoyable trailer for you to watch today for a set of horror themed shorts called Fun Size Horror. There are 31 horror films in the anthology, and many of them are teased in this trailer. All the shorts were made by a collection of filmmakers who had to follow two rules: The movie had to be horror themed, and it had to be five minutes or less in length.

The short films were self-financed and produced by the talented individuals who made them. Zeke Pinheiro came up with the concept, and he said,

“It occurred to me that I know all these great filmmakers, who are always wanting to create their own thing and all love horror, but were never given a platform. So I figured, why don’t we pool our skills, equipment and resources, and create a collective with the goal of each of us creating...

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, and Christoph Waltz in Django Unchained (2012)
Quentin Tarantino fans are primed for today's Comic-Con 'Django' panel
Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx, and Christoph Waltz in Django Unchained (2012)
We walked the Comic-Con Hall H line this morning to meet the die-hard Quentin Tarantino fans waiting to see today’s Django Unchained panel. Tarantino fans are among the most devoted (one person came all the way from Malaysia for the event) and film-literate at Sdcc, unlike some…other…passionate fan bases. (Also mixed in among the Hall H line throngs this a.m. were fan boys and girls waiting to see clips from Iron Man 3 and The Hobbit at those upcoming panels.)

The Django Unchained fans we spoke to were most excited about Inglorious Basterds star Christoph Waltz reuniting with Tarantino,...

2011 Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival: Official Lineup
San Diego’s annual Comic-Con is mostly known for its major media spectacles, displays and panel discussions by major mainstream Hollywood studios and distributors. Lesser known is the Independent Film Festival that is hosted by and runs concurrently with the larger convention on July 21-24.

The film festival runs in a large meeting room at the Marriott Marquis Hotel and Marina, located right next door to the convention center. Each day kicks off with a “Film School” panel discussion at 10:00 a.m., then packs the late morning, all afternoon and night with independent films from all over the world.

Screenings are blocked by genre, such as Action/Adventure, Sci-Fi, Horror, Animation and Documentary. There’s also an awards presentation on the 24th, with repeat screenings of the winning films.

One of the highlights of this year’s Cci-iff is the screening of Waylon Bacon‘s fantastic and disturbing short film Help Wanted,...
