Gutierrez, Chuck (Carlo Joel Burgos Gutierrez) b. Quezon City 10 Nov 1981. Director, editor, producer. He is the son of Dr. Joel Gutierrez and educator Teresita Burgos Gutierrez. He finished his bachelor's degree in Information Technology at the University of Asia, and the Pacific and studied Digital Filmmaking and Video Production at the Film Arts Foundation in San Francisco, California, USA. He also took units in Master of Arts in Media Studies, major in film, at the University of the Philippines Film Institute.

Chuck's debut work as a film editor was Jay (2008), directed by Francis Xavier Pasion, which earned him the Best Editor prize in the 2008 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, 2009 Star Awards, and the 2009 Gawad Urian. In the 2010 edition of Cinemalaya, he won both the Best Editor prizes for his works in Halaw (Ways of the Sea) directed by Sheron Dayoc under the New Breed Category, and for "Pink Halo-Halo" directed by Jay Altarejos in the Directors' Showcase category.

In his young career, Chuck has collaborated with filmmakers from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, and championed Filipino films in major international film festivals. He edited and co-produced Auraeus Solito's Busong (Palawan Fate, 2011), which gave Cinemalaya its first film to premiere at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. His post-production work for Arnel Mardoquio's Ang Tigmo sa Aking Pagpauli (Riddles of My Homecoming, 2013) set in Mindanao won him best in editing at the 2014 Gawad Urian.

In 2018, Gutierrez edited the film Liway, directed by Kip Oebanda, which turned out to be the highest grossing Cinemalaya film in its first 14-year history. The film also earned various nominations and winnings, including Best Editing at the 2019 Eddys Awards and 2019 Luna Awards by the Film Academy of the Philippines.

Besides his works on fiction films, Gutierrez also produces and edits documentary films. His work for Baby Ruth Villarama's Sunday Beauty Queen is the first non-fiction entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival that won Best Picture, Best Editing, Kids' Choice and the Cultural Award in 2016. It screened in various festivals and won several local and international recognitions for its high social impact. Other notable documentaries he worked on are Benito Bautista's Harana (2012), Baby Ruth Villarama's Jazz in Love (2013), Little Azkals (2014) and The Boy with No Shoes (2019).

Chuck debut feature-length film as a director is a film shot in Compostela Valley, Mindanao entitled Iisa (As One, 2015), which was in-competition at the 2015 QCinema International Film Festival, and it went on to screen in Italy, Turkey, Malaysia, Cameroon, Uruguay, United States, among others. He is an alumnus of the Talents Tokyo Campus.
