Ísold Uggadóttir is an Icelandic director and screenwriter. Her feature film debut, "And Breathe Normally" premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2018, where Ísold was awarded Best Director in the World Cinema Dramatic category.
Recently, Ísold directed "Cornucopia", a poetic, sonic and visual feast with a serious undertone, featuring multidisciplinary artist Björk at her very best, to be released in 2025.
"And Breathe Normally" was acquired as an original Netflix Feature Film and named by the The British Film Institute as one of 21 must-see debut films by female directors of the last decade.The film received the FIPRESCI International Critics Prize at the Göteborg Film Festival 2018 and subsequently took home numerous awards worldwide, including 9 nominations to the Icelandic Academy Awards. Ísold's four short films screened at countless festivals including the Sundance Film Festival, the Telluride Film Festival, Lincoln Center in New York, MoMA and beyond, winning 30 international awards, in addition to two Icelandic Academy Awards and multiple nominations.
Ísold holds an M.F.A in writing and directing from New York City's Columbia University. In 2022 she was named Reykjavík's Official City Artist.
