Richard Handley

Richard Handley is an award-winning writer, producer, actor known for his films, The Black String (Lionsgate), starring Frankie Muniz and Teacher's Pet, starring Luke Barnett, Sara Tomko, Barbara Crampton, Drew Powell, Michelle Torian, and Clayton Royal Johnson (slated for early 2025). He's grateful to have balanced careers in entertainment, medicine, and executive leadership. He is a SAG AFTRA and Producer's Guild of America (PGA) member. He thrives as a lifelong learner, holding multiple graduate degrees in medicine (MD), public health (DHSc), business (MBA), film & TV (MFA), and operational leadership (MS-HQS) from a number of universities, including Harvard Medical School and the Keck School of Medicine of USC. His medical career started when he served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy, but Rich's passion for filmmaking could not be ignored which led him to earn an MFA in Film from Mount St. Mary's University and a Graduate Certificate in Producing from the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television, during which time he served as a development intern for producer, Kevin Misher. Rich writes stories that fuse his years of medical experience with compelling characters and themes of redemption and recovery. Rich finds inspiration in doctors turned creators/artists George Miller, Ken Jeong, and Neal Baer.
