Like most people who owned Team Edward shirts in 2009, I remember the Twilight novels for the cringey dialogue, the iconic love triangle, and the hand-wringing over its supposedly anti-feminist protagonist, Bella Swan. But when I recently revisited the saga to prepare for Midnight Sun, I came to an interesting conclusion: the way Stephenie Meyer represents Bella's agency as a character is actually sort of progressive.

Bella is often dismissed as a personality-less character, but her actions across the novels reveal much more depth. Bella is shown to be selfless, brave, sarcastic, and stubborn; she's also uncannily mature to the point where she's constantly referred to as an "old soul." Bella continually puts herself on the line to save people she loves, jokes around with Edward (something the melodramatic film adaptations leave out), and, most of all, refuses to back down when she wants something (especially when that something is superhot...

Stephenie Meyer has journeyed away from the "Twilight" zone to create her first desert-based sci-fi tale with "The Host," the Andrew Niccol-directed adaptation for which hits theaters this weekend. However with all the current talk about the story's "love box," we realized there's definitely a running theme here within each of her stories: basic geometry.

Seriously! Think about it. In addition to being a supernatural story-slinger she's also a secret math wiz, which definitively explains why with each book she's been able to introduce a new variable or two and change the shape of the emotional constants involved just enough to create distinctly new formulas.

What began as a simple line between two hearts with the first "Twilight," for instance, wound up being a somehow still sensical rectangle of vampire-vampire-werewolf-hybrid entanglements. It all adds up!

With "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" arriving so close to Halloween, I imagine we'll be seeing plenty of "Twilight" costumes again this year. A popular one for couples with a young daughter -- or, you know, one of those sons who looks like a daughter -- should be Edward, Bella and Renesmee.

What about on the other side of the looking glass though? Just because the "The Twilight Saga" characters live in a world of vampires and werewolves doesn't mean they don't still like to get their dress-up on for Halloween. In fact, I imagine the Cullens make a point to go all out with costumes as way to fit in as your typical (irrationally beautiful) American family. After all, they have lots of extra time to fashion perfect outfits -- not having to sleep and being immortal and all.

The massive outdoor set and green screen in Baton Rogue’s Arsenal Park seemed like a perfect fit for Breaking Dawn’s epic final fight, but it seems like it may in fact be for something entirely different — Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson’s wedding scene!

Seeing as Dakota Fanning and Michael Sheen were spotted in Baton Rogue all last month, it is safe to assume the final scene has finished filming. It would not take that long to film and as the scene takes place only in the Cullen’s yard there would be no need to use another location.

A few weeks ago, Michael Welch ("Mike Newton" in the Twilight series films) let his followers on Twitter know that he'd be back to reprise his part in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1.

"It looks like I will be back for Part 1! WooHOOO!! Part 2, I'm not sure yet."

In the book, his character appears in Breaking Dawn as a guest at [*spoiler warning*] the wedding of "Bella" and "Edward Cullen" but is not discussed past that point. So, since it's all but guaranteed that this portion of the story will conclude in Part 1, Welch's return for that and not the second makes sense.

Team Twilight got the chance to speak to Welch after a screening of his newest film Unrequited, and he discussed a bit about his involvement with the Saga.

For starters, Michael Welch ("Mike Newton" in the Twilight Saga films) has joined Twitter, per Twilight Lexicon. Welch has been on the Twilight convention circuit for quite some time, and joining Twitter just seems like a great new platform for him to communicate with his fans with. An updated list of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse actors scheduled to appear at this year's Teen Choice Awards has been revealed, and it appears that several members of the cast will join Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene at the event.

HollywoodNews.com: Either the Twilight franchise is running out of news, or Michael Welch is stepping farther into the spotlight. The actor who plays the minor character Mike Newton in the Twilight films suddenly got a lot of press this week. Though the actor hadn’t quite made himself scarce when it came to the films (e.g., he has done the occasional interview and appeared at some Official Twilight Conventions), to see so much of him so suddenly (even during a film premiere month) is unexpected.

So, where has Michael Welch appeared, and what has the actor had to say? E! Online recently reported on his verbose defense of Kristen Stewart with respect to her now infamous “rape” remark to Elle UK. “Look, I certainly see what she was getting at in terms of feeling violated.

'Twilight: Eclipse' will see new vampire breed. According to Zap2it, Michael Welch, who plays human Mike Newton in Summit Entertainment's third installment in their vampire series titled "Twilight Saga: Eclipse", recently revealed some interesting details regarding the film which is scheduled to arrive in theater June 30th.

Welch said there is going to be a new breed of vampires that show up and more! The actor was recently interviewed by "The Dish Rag" regarding what's coming up in "Twilight Saga: Eclipse". He said, "Eclipse will be awesome. It's actually my favorite book in the series. We're introducing a lot of new characters."

Well, I'm sure fans of the series are eager for the summer to arrive. While I've never been a huge fan of the "Twilight" series, I can see the mass appeal. There's romance, action, adventure...I mean, what else could you ask for from a series?...
