'She Owed Him Nothing': The White Lotus Star Explains One of Season 3's Biggest Heartbreaks
Image
Natasha Rothwell recalled her pitch for Belinda's arc in The White Lotus Season 3. This included Belinda's moral predicament towards the end, and how that decision impacted her budding love story. Rothwell explained why Belinda left Pornchai heartbroken in the finale.

Belinda Lindsey has one of the best arcs in The White Lotus. She came out unscathed in Season 3, and her career prospects are looking bright; she can afford to quit her job at the White Lotus Hawaii. In an interview with Variety, Natasha Rothwell celebrated her character's newfound agency. She also has a message for fans who called out Belinda for leaving Pornchai, who was last seen pining for her in the finale.

"That pisses me off," she said. "People are just like, 'Oh, you just left Pornchai (played by Dom Hetrakul) on the side of the road.' She f—-- the dude one night. She had a one-night stand.

How Natasha Rothwell helped Belinda get her groove back in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3
Image
Most fans of The White Lotus believe we’ll see Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda again. But if the character’s Season 3 exit sailing off into the Thai sunset with her son, Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), $5 million richer is the last we see of the spa manager, it’s a well-deserved happy ending for both the fan favorite and the actress who plays her.

Rothwell earned an Emmy nomination for the HBO series' first season, which ended with the death of Hawaii-based Belinda’s dream to open her own spa after investor Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) pulled out. Rothwell watched Sicily-set Season 2 as a fan, and knew that Tanya had died trying to escape a hit orchestrated by her husband, Greg (Jon Gries). When she binged creator Mike White’s scripts for Season 3, and read that Belinda’s exchange program was complicated by her recognizing resort restaurant patron "Gary" as Greg, Rothwell couldn't...

The White Lotus Season 3's Natasha Rothwell Responds To Belinda Backlash
Image
In season 3 of the supposed anthology series "The White Lotus" (which creator Mike White set in Thailand after visiting Hawai'i and Italy in the show's first two outings), audiences get to reconnect with Belinda Lindsey (played by Natasha Rothwell), a spa employee who first showed up in Maui back in season 1. Belinda visits the Thailand outpost of the fictional White Lotus chain to learn from the wellness staff there, largely because this location bills itself as being hyper-focused on wellness. However, she ends up getting a lot more than she bargained for.

I should rephrase that. Belinda ends up quite literally bargaining for $5 million dollars from her old acquaintance Greg Hunt (Jon Gries), whom she met back in Maui, so that she'll continue to keep his many, many secrets. While that's certainly not what Belinda thought would happen in Thailand, that's how everything shook out. So, does Rothwell think Belinda is evil now?...

Image
“The White Lotus” breakout Dom Hetrakul has signed on to star in “Debt Sentence,” a buzzy Thai crime-horror film headed to the Cannes Film Market.

The project marks the feature directorial debut of Warun Siriprachai and is based on the viral short film “How to Run Away From Your Debt,” which racked up multi-million views online.

‘The White Lotus’ Star Natasha Rothwell Defends Belinda For “Centering Herself”
Image
Following the Season 3 finale of The White Lotus, Natasha Rothwell is shutting down critics of Belinda’s “good for her” moment.

The 2x Emmy nominee defended the character’s choice to leave Thailand after successfully blackmailing Greg (Jon Gries) to stay quiet about him likely killing his late wife Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), reasoning that it doesn’t mean Belinda has an evil streak.

“I don’t think so,” she told People. “I think her heart is good, but I do think that she was flirting with being a baddie by taking this money. So I don’t think she’ll turn bad, but I do think there’s maybe a consequence by all those decisions have, sort of that yin and yang.”

Rothwell thinks Belinda could suffer consequences in a future season “as a result of the decision she made,” adding: “Who knows? I don’t even know if she’s coming back.

“I Felt That Was a Violation”: ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3's Carrie Coon Gets Candid About Belinda and Pornchai’s Ending
Image
Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for 'The White Lotus' Season 3.After watching her get completely burned by Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya McQuoid in Season 1 of The White Lotus, fans were cautiously optimistic when it was revealed that Natasha Rothwell would reprise her role as Belinda Lindsey in the third season. While hopeful that she’d have better luck this time around, audiences were also nervous about what dark fate could possibly befall the beloved character. But, when all was said and done, Belinda sailed off into the sunset (literally) with a boatload of money in her bank account and her son, Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), by her side. But, some viewers were split about how they felt about Belinda’s final scene, as it was paired with her choosing to be by herself rather than with her fellow massage therapist and love interest, Pornchai (Dom Hetrakul), with whom she had discussed opening a business with.

5 Things We Already Know About ‘The White Lotus’ Season 4 After That Jaw-Dropping Finale
Image
Okay, let’s just admit it, The White Lotus could drop a season set inside a haunted porta-potty, and we’d still be seated with popcorn. After three seasons of stunning locations, questionable therapy breakthroughs, and, oh yeah, multiple casual murders, HBO’s bougie death-vacation series is back for round four. Honestly, who keeps giving five-star ratings to these cursed resorts?

Doesn’t matter, because we’re hooked like it’s the world’s most glamorous murder mystery dinner. With season 3 wrapping up in Thailand (and leaving us gasping like we forgot how to breathe), it’s official, creator Mike White is already cooking up season 4, and the stove is on fire.

Fans weigh in on ‘The White Lotus’ ending: Carrie Coon gets her flowers, but finale panned for ‘predictable twists throughout’
Image
The third season of The White Lotus ended on Sunday night with a record 6.2 million viewers watching the finale live on HBO and Max. (That's a 51 percent jump over the previous season's finale.) During and after the 90-minute episode, the Gold Derby forums were abuzz with comments good and bad, with people giving a specific shout-out to one actor who they thought got an Emmy boost. They also reacted to some of the show's various twists, and sounded off about the Season 4 location rumors.

Carrie Coon appreciation

Following the finale, Carrie Coon skyrocketed up Gold Derby's Emmy chart for Best Drama Supporting Actress. Her character, Laurie, delivered an emotional monologue in which she declared, "I have no belief system," which instantly went viral on social media. As a result, Allison Janney (The Diplomat) dropped to second place in our rankings, with The White Lotus costar Parker Posey as Victoria remaining in third.

Natasha Rothwell on Belinda’s ‘White Lotus’ Face-Off With Greg and Season 4 Ideas: ‘I Want to Know What It’s Like to Have the Power Over a White Man’
Image
Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for the Season 3 finale of “The White Lotus,” now streaming on Max.

Belinda is safe!

Being the only guest at the White Lotus who knows about the history of murders at the resort chain, things have looked dicey for Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) all season long. A fan-favorite returning character from Season 1 of “The White Lotus,” she knew she recognized Greg (Jon Gries) as soon as she spotted him in Thailand. Seeing him reminded her of Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), the rich woman who’d promised Belinda she would financially support her spa — but then backed out of it in Season 1. When she googled Tanya’s name, she realized that Greg had married her and that she had died shortly after, meaning Belinda was in big trouble.

After hearing from hotel manager Fabian (Christian Friedel) that Greg had been asking after her whereabouts, Belinda rightfully began to fear for her safety,...

Natasha Rothwell Shares Her Take on Her ‘White Lotus’ Ending, Which Mike White Planned After Jennifer Coolidge’s Departure
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from The White Lotus season three finale, “Amor Fati.”]

The first thing White Lotus creator Mike White knew about season three was how it was going to end.

“The ending was kinda the first thing I really thought of — Belinda leaving with money and leaving somebody in the same way she got left [in the first season],” said White, who wrote and directed season three finale “Amor Fati,” on the The White Lotus Official Podcast after the episode released Sunday night. The supersized 90-minute season ender brought Natasha Rothwell’s character full circle, as she essentially becomes Tanya, the deceased fan-favorite character played by Jennifer Coolidge. Or does she become Greg, Tanya’s ex-husband who orchestrated the murder (played by returning star Jon Gries)?

Rothwell was asked that question in a separate interview for the HBO show’s official podcast that also released after Sunday night’s finale.

“Maybe she’s a little bit of both,...

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Finale Devastates Fans – Including Ben Stiller: ‘HBO Should Pay for My Therapy’

Note: The following contains “The White Lotus” Season 3 finale spoilers.

“The White Lotus” Season 3 finale was met with shock, awe and a lot of emotions when it aired on Sunday. The intense 90-minute finale ended in five deaths total, but it was more than just the body count that hit home.

If you’re here, hopefully that means you know what happened already. But if you don’t, consider this your final checkpoint before entering spoiler territory.

Good? Great. If you want the specifics about everything that went down, you can find them here. The short version is this: both Rick (Walton Goggins) and Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) die, after finally reaching a point where their love was their only focus.

And, for fans, the death of Chelsea was a tough pill to swallow, with one fan writing that the character was simply “too pure of heart.”

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Wraps with Bloody Violence and Shakespearean Tragedy
Image
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “The White Lotus” Season 3, Episode 8, “Amor Fati.”]

“The White Lotus” did warn us: Violence begets violence.

In the Season 3 finale of Mike White’s treacherous drama, cycles of violence take center stage as they spin on, end, or reroute in terrifying directions. Once again, a few days in paradise has left these characters changed forever — at least the ones who survived.

After conceding that he isn’t a violent man, Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) finds himself at a crossroads. On one side, there is nonviolence, his Buddhist upbringing, and leaving the job he takes such pride in to pursue other avenues; in the other direction, accepting the option or at least the reality of violence will further his current career, and possibly his relationship with Lisa Manobal’s Mook, who is weirdly rigid about his options. There is a sense that her interest hinges up his machismo and his job title,...

The White Lotus Season 3 Finale Gives Belinda The Show's Most Ironic Ending
Image
(This article contains massive spoilers for "The White Lotus" season 3 finale.)

Up until season 3, most fans agreed that Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) was the only major character on the show to actually be a good person. Everyone else is shown to have some sort of dark side by the entirety of their respective seasons, but throughout season 1, Belinda harms no one. Her only crime is putting too much trust in Tanya (McQuoid Jennifer Coolidge), a mega-rich woman who offers to give Belinda the money she needs to start a wellness business and then doesn't follow through.

The storyline was a poignant tale of the way rich people can cause so much distress to the lower-class people around them without even realizing it. Tanya barely seems to understand that she's been taunting Belinda with a golden lottery ticket all season. She doesn't notice that Belinda is performing an excessive amount of emotional labor to keep Tanya happy,...

7 Shocking Moments From ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Finale
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from ‘The White Lotus” Season 3, Episode 8.

Eight weeks after it began, “The White Lotus” Season 3 has finally come to an end. It has been a wild, tense ride — one full of some of the show’s most astonishing highs (Sam Rockwell’s Emmy-worthy monologue) and frustrating lows (Jason Isaacs’ circular story week-in-and-week-out). Early on, “The White Lotus” Season 3 suggested that it was going to be the series’ darkest, most introspective and most cynical season to date. Its finale, titled “Amor Fati,” proved that to be true.

A fever dream of an episode, the “White Lotus” Season 3 finale delivers all the shocking moments that viewers wanted, as well as fitting endings for all of its characters. Even the season’s happy endings, however, carry with them a dark, acidic edge, one that reminds us yet again that success in a capitalistic world always requires sacrifice of some kind.

The White Lotus Season 3 Finale Gives Us The Most Positive Family In The Show's History
Image
This post contains spoilers for the season 3 finale of "The White Lotus," "Amor Fati."

Mike White's global anthology series "The White Lotus" has introduced us to so many dysfunctional families, all of whom have too much money and privilege and all of whom act abominably in various exotic locations across the world. Finally, in the show's third season, which takes place in Thailand, we get one functional family, and it's made up of just two people, both of whom are largely blameless as they're surrounded by wealthy lunatics.

We first meet spa manager Belinda Lindsey (Natasha Rothwell) in the show's first season, set in Maui — but we don't meet her son, Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), until the third season, when Belinda takes a trip to Thailand to learn from the wellness staff at that country's fictional White Lotus location and Zion meets up with her there. While in Thailand, Belinda...

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Ending Explained: Who Died?
Image
“The White Lotus” Season 3 finale was a bloodbath that ended up with two dead and one red herring.

The finale brought all the stories crashing back together for the mysterious shootout we briefly heard playing out back in the premiere. The biggest questions were who was firing the gun, who was caught in the crossfire, and who was the body Zion (Nicholas Duvernay) found floating in the river — and whether it was even connected to the shooting or not.

All season long it has been anyone’s guess who would end up dead. Tim (Jason Isaacs) has been having suicidal fantasies for half the episodes, Rick (Walton Goggins) has been on a revenge-fueled manhunt for the person responsible for his father’s death, and Gaitok seemed to have finally figured out who robbed the resort.

Here is who did not make it out of the Season 3 finale alive.

Woody Harrelson Turned Down ‘White Lotus’ Season 3 Role Due to a ‘Family Vacation’: ‘An Extremely Hard Decision’
Image
Woody Harrelson almost joined Mike White in Thailand for “The White Lotus” Season 3, but his own family vacation plans got in the way.

Harrelson, who was in the running to play either Walton Goggins’ Rick or Sam Rockwell’s Frank, was speculated to have turned down the roles because of producer David Bernad’s policy that all “White Lotus” cast members get paid the same. However, in a statement released to The Daily Beast, Harrelson revealed that he passed on “The White Lotus” because of his own family vacation.

“I was set to do ‘White Lotus’ and very excited. Unfortunately, their production schedule shifted, and conflicted with a pre-planned family vacation, forcing me to make an extremely hard decision,” he said. “Things must be meant to be though, because I couldn’t have done as fantastic a job as Sam, who is killing it.”

The White Lotus – 7 Most Hated Characters Ranked
Image
Let’s be honest: The White Lotus isn’t just a TV show. It’s a wild, sun-soaked safari through the land of the morally bankrupt, where every smile hides a secret, and every resort check-in comes with complimentary emotional baggage. Creator Mike White has somehow turned luxury vacation drama into a spectator sport, and we are so here for it.

From the lush beaches of Maui to the scandal-soaked villas of Sicily and now the chaotic calm of Thailand, each season serves up a fresh platter of rich people misbehaving, with a side of murder and a bottomless mimosa of dysfunction.

How Season 3 of ‘The White Lotus’ could set a new record for Emmy acting nominations
Image
If you thought the first two seasons of The White Lotus received lots of acting nominations at the Emmys, just wait.

Season 3, which comes to an end this Sunday on HBO, could end up beating the previous number of acting bids for both Season 1 (eight) and Season 2 (nine). Jennifer Coolidge won back-to-back Emmys for playing quirky resort guest Tanya McQuoid, while Murray Bartlett claimed gold for the first season as the Maui hotel manager.

The third installment, which focuses on wellness and spirituality in Thailand, boasts a whopping 17 series regulars as of the penultimate episode, which aired March 30. The actors can essentially be divided into four cliques: the Ratliff family; the female best friends; hotel employees/acquaintances; and those involved in a revenge storyline.

That doesn't even count the recurring actors billed as guest stars, such as Nicholas Duvernay as Zion, Arnas Fedaravicius as Valentin, Christian Friedel as Fabian, Dom Hetrakul as Pornchai,...

'The White Lotus' Season 3 Will End With a Bang Thanks to Feature Length Finale
Image
Following The White Lotus Season 3’s impressive viewership records (complete with an 89% critics score on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes), it’s only fair to end the satirical comedy-drama series in quite an exciting manner. According to HBO’s latest schedule (via Variety), the eighth episode of Season 3 will be the anthology series’ longest yet, spanning a total of 90 minutes. It will be 12 minutes longer than the second season's runtime.

The supersized Season 3 finale of The White Lotus is set to premiere on April 6, 2025. Of course, with an allotted 90 minutes for Episode 8, the finale is expected to answer all the questions left in the previous episodes, including the person behind the mysterious gunshot and the dead body during the first episode’s earlier moments. While Season 3 is nearing its imminent end, more vacation-gone-wrong stories await as the series had just been renewed for Season 4 earlier this year ahead of Season 3 premiere,...

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Finale Is 90 Minutes, Longest Episode in the Series
Image
Get ready for a supersized “White Lotus” finale.

The eighth and final installment of the vacation dramedy’s third season will span 90 minutes, according to the HBO schedule, marking the longest episode of the series to date.

The episode has a lot of loose ends to tie up in Thailand. Who fired the gunshots heard at the beginning of the series? Whose body is found floating in the hotel pond? What will happen between Belinda and Greg/Gary after his proposition? Will Timothy succumb to the darkness, and will he take any of his family members down with him? Will Gaitok confront the Russians after his realization at the Muay Thai match? Will the brothers ever talk about that sickening threesome?

As our Sunday-night vacation comes to an end, fans can rejoice, as Variety exclusively announced in January, before the Season 3 premiere, that Mike White’s series has already been renewed for a fourth season.

Here's Why The Stakes For The White Lotus Season 3 Finale Feel Higher Than Ever
Image
This post contains spoilers for "The White Lotus" season 3.

In one week, someone at the White Lotus' scenic and tranquil Thailand location is going to die. Judging by this season's focus on shady American tourists and career criminals, several people might not make it out alive. This is, of course, the modus operandi of Mike White's not-quite-anthology series about tourism, wealth, whiteness, and selfishness. Tourists -- many of them white, rich, and unbearable -- come to an idyllic resort for a week, and at the end of the week, one of them dies. It's dark, funny, and absurdist. So why does it feel so much more stressful this time around?

Episode 7 of the show's super-compelling third season is about as slow a burn as "The White Lotus" has ever presented. While most episodes of the series cover one day in the life of the resort's vacationers and staff, "Killer...

‘The White Lotus’ Hits New Viewership Milestone With Season 3’s Buzzy Sixth Episode
Image
The White Lotus hit another viewership milestone with its latest episode, which proved to be quite a buzzy one.

The sixth episode of Season 3 drew 4.2M U.S. cross-platform viewers, eking out a win over the Season 2 finale, which previously held the series’ audience record with 4.1M.

It appears this season is on track to be the biggest one yet, as HBO says that episodes are pacing more than 5M viewers ahead of last season. Season 2 ultimately averaged around 15.5M U.S. viewers per episode.

On a global scale, HBO says that each Season 3 episode has hit a viewing high, though the company didn’t provide any numbers for viewership outside the U.S.

As mentioned, Sunday’s episode generated quite a bit of conversation on social media as well. The hashtag for the show was in the Top 10 trending topics on X for 10 consecutive hours in the U.S.

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3, Episode 6 Recap: Drunken Mistakes and Disturbing Daydreams
Image
This week’s episode of “The White Lotus” Season 3 begins with a bang, but not really.

Picking up not long after its predecessor, Tim (Jason Isaacs) promptly shoots himself in the head. The gunshot wakes Victoria (Parker Posey), whose screams over her husband’s body attract their daughter, Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook), who begins to scream and cry right alongside her mother. It is a viscerally upsetting moment, and a bit of a cheat on the part of “White Lotus” creator Mike White, who reveals that it is nothing more than a fantasy from a still suicidal Tim. Realizing the havoc his suicide would wreak, he decides to live for at least one more day and stashes the gun he stole from Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) in a (very easy to find) cabinet drawer.

When he goes back to bed, Victoria assures him that Piper is going to get over her...

'The White Lotus’ Star Natasha Rothwell Discusses Belinda’s Love Arc
Image
When it comes to TV dramas that get romantic at some point, perhaps the one you'd think about the least is HBO'sThe White Lotus. The drama is about rich people facing all sorts of adversities in fancy resorts and often focusing on the wicked, the weird, and the greedy. Love isn't exactly part of the equation, for the most part. However, Season 3 has seen one of its characters grow in that regard. Natasha Rothwell's Belinda survived the emotional ordeal the character went through in Season 1. Now, she’s in an exchange training program learning from the best in hospitality, but it seems as if she's learning a bit too much. The actor spoke about her character's revival in Season 3 and her chance to find love while breaking some of the barriers when it comes to romantic arcs: "I think showing plus-sized love on TV is important."

Is The White Lotus Even An Anthology Series Anymore?

This post contains spoilers for "The White Lotus."

Each "White Lotus" premiere episode feels a little like a game of Clue. One of these people at a scenic resort — we always know from the show's deadly cold open — is going to die, and there's a pretty good chance someone else is going to kill them. The structure behind Mike White's multi-Emmy-winning series makes it a uniquely entertaining and participatory watch, even when the satire is shot through with real emotion and darkness. Most viewing experiences are made worse by constant guessing ahead, but "The White Lotus" asks us to do it, punctuating each new episode with exotic potential threats like toxic fruit seeds or venomous snakes.

The show might encourage new viewers and fans alike to think like Agatha Christie, but in season 3, its mystery comes with some surprising prerequisites. It's clear from day one of the Thailand trip...

‘The White Lotus’: Will Belinda Avenge Tanya? Natasha Rothwell Weighs In
Image
[This story contains spoilers from The White Lotus season three, episode three, “The Meaning of Dreams.”]

“Your name’s Greg, right?”

It’s the exact thing “Gary” never hoped to hear again. But it’s exactly what everyone has been waiting for Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda to say. Belinda, returning from The White Lotus season one, finally and fully clocks Greg, the murderous BLM (Bureau of Land Management) agent played by Jon Gries in all three seasons of Mike White’s vacation opus.

In season three’s third episode, Belinda, trading in Maui for Thailand as part of a higher learning program, dares to confront the man who arranged for the murder of Tanya McQuoid, the character played by Jennifer Coolidge in seasons one and two.

Though, it’s not exactly a ferocious confrontation. Belinda, who seemingly doesn’t know what happened to Coolidge’s spa-super-fan since they parted ways in Hawaii in season one,...

Jennifer Coolidge Reveals Her One Wish for Jon Gries’ Character Greg on ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3
Image
[This story contains spoilers for The White Lotus seasons one, two and three.]

Though the beloved Jennifer Coolidge isn’t in The White Lotus season three, she still wants her character avenged.

While speaking with Forbes recently, the actress noted she’s keeping up with the new season that’s taking place in Thailand and she’s “envious as hell.”

Coolidge played fan-favorite Tanya in the first two seasons of The White Lotus before her character met a tragic demise at the end of the second installment. (Who can forget her iconic line: “These gays, they’re trying to murder me.”) She also won Emmys for both performances.

After Forbes‘ Jeff Conway suggested she should return as a twin sister to Tanya, the Riff Raff actress responded, “I know! Look, it’s not like I haven’t wished or whatever, but it isn’t happening. It doesn’t matter — they don’t need me. Mike White...

‘The White Lotus’ Grows Season 3 Audience By 40% For Second Episode
Image
HBO might just have its most popular season of The White Lotus yet.

Per the company, 3.4M U.S. cross-platform viewers tuned in for the second episode on Sunday night, which marks a 40% increase over the premiere episode’s 2.4M.

Speaking of the premiere, it has now amassed 10.2M viewers in the U.S., up 92% from the Season 2 premiere episode’s audience in the first week of availability. In terms of same-day viewers, the second episode of Season 3 is also already outperforming the second episode of Season 2, boding well for the remainder of the season.

The White Lotus is now apparently the second largest returning original series in platform history, behind only House of the Dragon Season 2.

The Season 2 finale still holds the series-high same-day audience of 4.1M viewers, but it seems as though the third season is on its way to surpassing that as well, and it could even...

The White Lotus season 3 episode 2 recap: Belinda makes a shocking discovery
Image
This post contains spoilers from The White Lotus season 3 episode 2 from this point forward.

Well, The White Lotus season 3 sure started with a bang, didn't it? Everyone couldn't stop talking about the premiere episode with its trio of best friends who seem to possibly hate each other, the slight tease of sibling incest, and the traditional season-ending death we're working our way up to. But we're still getting to know this new batch of guests and employees in Thailand, and they're really giving us a good start.

The second episode opens with Jaclyn and Kate chatting after hours about Laurie. Their initial gushing, which had a tinge of fakeness, turns into gossip about her divorce and her palimony payments. They then turn their gossip to Laurie's daughter Ellie and her acting out, criticizing Laurie's choice to raise her in New York City, and then to Laurie's career... and her drinking.

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Filmed in These Picturesque Thai Hotels
Image
If you watched Sunday’s Season 3 premiere of “The White Lotus” on HBO, you may have woken up with a Monday diagnosis of wanderlust.

Sure, the drama from Emmy-winning creator and showrunner Mike White centers on the darker shades of humanity — and systematically climaxes in at least one death of a character we have come to love over their one-week stay in paradise. But the backdrops of Hawaii, Sicily and now Thailand are mouthwatering and awe-inspiring enough that we can forgive little things like murder and manipulation if it means enjoying a chilled cocktail, a pool full of eye candy and a bottle of Spf 50 in the lead-up to disaster.

“The White Lotus” Season 3 might feature its most exotically intoxicating locale yet: Thailand. The series has built its reputation through incisive and lurid depictions of American wealth, tensions between class and race and other taboos that keep the human condition ticking.

‘The White Lotus’: 2.4M Viewers Checked In For Season 3 Premiere
Image
The White Lotus Season 3 premiere welcomed 2.4M cross-platform U.S. viewers on Sunday night, according to HBO.

That’s a 57% increase over Season 2’s premiere night, which saw 1.5M tune in, and it’s an impressive 155% higher than the 944,000 who watched the Season 1 premiere when it debuted.

In the 36 hours post-premiere the Season 3 debut has already grown its audience 90% to 4.6M viewers HBO says.

It’s expected that the audience for the premiere episode will continue to tally an even larger audience over the next few weeks. Per HBO, the previous seasons saw the premieres grow seven to eight times beyond the night they aired on the network. Season 1’s premiere went on to average 9.3M viewers, while Season 2’s amassed 15.5M.

HBO also says that, in the week leading up to the Season 3 premiere, there was an 84% increase in volume of viewers catching up on the previous seasons compared...

TV Ratings: ‘White Lotus’ Sets New Premiere High With Season 3 Debut
Image
The third season of The White Lotus opened to the show’s largest premiere audience so far.

The HBO series brought in 2.4 million cross-platform viewers on its opening night Sunday, a 57 percent increase on the season two premiere (1.5 million). The night one figure includes the on-air premiere and replays on HBO and streaming on Max.

After 36 hours — including the Presidents Day holiday — HBO says the premiere grew to 4.6 million viewers, double the audience for season two’s first episode over the same amount of time. Viewing in Europe and Latin America more than tripled compared to the season two premiere, HBO says (though it didn’t provide any data the global audience).

The Thailand-set third season of Mike White’s satire follows another group of privileged guests at the White Lotus resort, the staff there, and — it’s hardly a spoiler to say at this point — a murder mystery, as...

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3, Episode 1 Recap: Gunshots, Monkeys and a Surprise Return
Image
A lot changes between seasons of “The White Lotus,” but some things never do. So it is that the premiere of “The White Lotus” Season 3 begins with a glimpse of future death and mayhem.

The season’s prologue follows Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), a stressed-out college student we eventually learn is the son of returning “White Lotus” Season 1 spa manager Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), as the tranquil quiet of his meditation session at the White Lotus Thailand’s wellness center is shattered first by the chirping of jungle monkeys and then by the sound of nearby gunshots. Fearing for his mother’s life, Zion prays for her safety to both Jesus and a nearby Buddha statue.

As he hides in a waist-high lagoon, he watches a dead body float into view. Before we get the chance to determine the corpse’s identity, “White Lotus” creator, writer and director Mike White takes us...

The White Lotus Season 3 TV Review: Mike White’s series is darker and funnier with it’s best ensemble cast to date
Image
Plot: This social satire is set at an exclusive Thai resort and follows the exploits of various guests and employees over the span of a week.

Review: It goes without saying that The White Lotus is one of the best shows on television. Originally envisioned as a limited series, the critical response to Mike White’s dark comedy earned it a second season. Transformed from a standalone tale to an anthology that travels to different global locales, The White Lotus uniquely connects certain characters and plot threads through each season while introducing all new characters with their own complex storylines and motivations. The third season follows the Hawaii and Italy set chapters before it and explores the patrons of the titular resort’s Thai location. Led by an ensemble packed with talent, including Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, and Walton Goggins, the third...

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Review: A Transportive Follow-Up Stuck in the Shallows
Image
Every season of Mike White’s black comedy anthology series The White Lotus begins at the end—namely, with a flash forward to the aftermath of a murder. In season one, it was to a body being loaded onto a plane heading out of Hawaii, and in season two, it was to a corpse floating toward a Sicilian beach. The show’s third season starts even closer to the action, with gunfire interrupting the birdsong at a luxurious island resort in Thailand, before catapulting us into the past, as tourists approach their doomed Eden by boat.

Godspeed to these travelers, whose cursed vacation makes for rather entertaining viewing. Rick (Walton Goggins), a withdrawn grump who reveals flashes of vulpine charm, is here with his younger, new-agey girlfriend, Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood), who radiates enough vim to turn their sparkless relationship into a star-crossed romance. Longtime friends Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan), Laurie...

Image
Fantasy became reality when Murray Bartlett touched down at the Sundance Film Festival.

“I’m super excited because it’s all new and I’ve always fantasized about being here,” the veteran star told The Hollywood Reporter while standing on the red carpet last month inside Park City’s Eccles Center Theatre where he joined co-stars John Malkovich, Ayo Edebiri, Juliette Lewis, Stephanie Suganami and Tatanka Means at the world premiere of festival entry Opus from filmmaker Mark Anthony Green and A24.

Opus follows Ariel, a young writer (Edebiri), who receives a surprise invitation to join a group of journalists and media personalities in making the trek to the compound of a global pop superstar, Alfred Moretti (Malkovich), who has resurfaced after a 30 year disappearance. When the group arrives, they soon realize that Moretti is a figure of obsession for those around him and there are nefarious plans in place.

The White Lotus creator teases much darker season 3: “The other seasons were a rehearsal for this one”
Image
The White Lotus season 3 will debut on HBO in just two weeks, and creator Mike White has teased that the new season will be “much, much darker” than the others.

“I do feel like the other seasons were a rehearsal for this one,” White told Time. “There’s stuff that I’ve never directed before.” The new season is set at an exclusive Thai resort and follows the exploits of various guests and employees over the course of a week. “They’re all in some kind of hurt,” White said of the new guests. “Like, they’re all dead, but they don’t know it…because it’s dealing with these existential tropes of facing into the nothingness of self [and] Buddhist themes that have life and death and ethical aspects, [the season] just got more heavy.“

White originally wanted to shoot the third season in Japan, but HBO wasn’t sure and...

'The White Lotus' Season 3 Trailer Teases The Troubles Ahead
Image
With the new season of The White Lotus mere weeks away from premiering on our screens, HBO and Max have released the official trailer, giving us greater insight into the terribly self-centered, rich white jerks we'll watch suffer with schadenfreudic glee starting on February 16, 2025. And by the looks of what's being teased in the latest clip from Mike White's hit series, a lot of rich white people are going to leave Thailand feeling very sad (or maybe even dead).

And so long as our beloved Belinda (played by Natasha Rothwell) isn't one of the people to suffer (as she has already suffered enough thanks to the series' first season in Hawaii), we're totally on board with whatever happens to this particular crew of misbehaving have-it-alls.

Who Do You Think Is Going To Die In 'The White Lotus' Third Season?

It's the question on everyone's lips, isn't it? Particularly after...

A week in paradise spirals into a vacation from Hell in the first trailer for The White Lotus Season 3
Image
What’s a little fun in the sun without guilt, deception, and murder encroaching on your good time? It’s time to return to the White Lotus, where relaxation is paramount to the experience, and everything you’ve left back home can remain exactly where you left it. HBO‘s The White Lotus Season 3 trailer finds a new group of Americans visiting a luxury resort in Thailand, where exploration, freedom, and spiritual awakenings await. Some say, “What happens in Thailand stays in Thailand,” but what happens when your chance to transform into “an entirely different person” spirals out of control, and your home away from home becomes Hell on Earth?

“The social satire is set at an exclusive Thai resort and follows the exploits of various guests and employees over the span of a week,” reads HBO’s logline for The White Lotus Season 3. The new season continues...
