‘Don’t Log Off’ Trailer: Ariel Winter Stars In New Screen Life Horror Film
Image
If you like a level of intrigue in your horror cinema, you’ll want to make haste to check out the newly released trailer for the upcoming Dread title Don’t Log Off. The film is comprised of a mixture of cinematic camerawork and screen life filmmaking techniques. That’s a combination we don’t often see. Most films are either one or the other. However, it might just be enticing to see the two seemingly opposed styles merged. If you’re intrigued, you won’t have to wait long to experience the film for yourself. Don’t Log Off will bow in select theaters July 11. The picture will land on VOD shortly thereafter on July 15.

Judging by the trailer, Don’t Log Off has certain surface similarities to the celebrated pandemic horror picture Host. However, from what we can tell from the trailer, it looks like Don’t Log Off might feature a more human antagonist than Host,...

Modern Family Cast Then & Now: Julie Bowen Is Immortal but Another Actor Aged Like the Finest Wine
Image
Modern Family may have wrapped in April 2020, but the cast still lives rent-free in our heads. From Julie Bowen’s seemingly ageless glow to one actor who’s pulling off the “finest wine” transformation like a pro, the glow-ups (and glow-steady cases) are real.

Over the years, this lovable sitcom family’s had their own aging arc. Whether it’s the Dunphy kids stepping into their adult era or the Pritchetts embracing silver fox status, this then-and-now rewind proves that time has only turned up the style and swagger, and not dulled their charm.

These two Modern Family stars are 'still best friends' (which warms our hearts!)
Image
When you have a favorite television series, especially one that goes on for so long, you get invested in everything about it. From the story, to the characters, and even the cast. We always like to hear good things about the relationships between co-stars, otherwise sometimes it becomes a bit tainted. And unfortunately, we do end up learning that some actors didn't get along or aren't close anymore. Thankfully when it comes to Modern Family, it looks like all the cast members are still close. And there's two in particular who are besties.

In an interview with People recently, Ariel Winter who played Alex Dunphy shared that she and her TV younger brother Nolan Gould (Luke Dunphy) are "extremely close" and "still best friends," to this day. Aw, this comment just warms our hearts! It definitely put a smile on my face.

“You are trying to be s*xy, you’re 13”: Ariel Winter’s Horrible Struggle With Modern Family’s Toxic Fanbase

Being a child star might sound like a dream, but through and through, Hollywood stars like Emma Watson and Millie Bobby Brown have reflected on the heavy price they had to pay for their early stardom. Even the Modern Family actress Ariel Winter, who donned the role of the brainy and lovable Alex Dunphy, opened up about the hardship of growing up in front of millions.

Reflecting on her transformation from an 11-year-old child actor to a teen, and then into a young woman, Ariel Winter mentioned how the world didn’t watch with kindness. Instead of embracing her natural growth and aging, Winter was hit with cruel, body-shaming comments and harsh judgment from so-called fans who couldn’t accept that she wasn’t just her onscreen character.

Why Modern Family Star Ariel Winter Disappeared From Hollywood
Image
It's never easy to be a child star. Even if you have a healthy, stable home life, it can be difficult to deal with the highs and lows of fame as a juvenile. That's not counting the work schedules, trying to keep up with schooling, and still trying to be a kid, so it's not always surprising when super successful child stars drop out of the limelight for at least a little while upon reaching adulthood. Young women have to try to reconcile growing up with their fandoms, which can be incredibly difficult, while also trying to pave a career and a way forward for themselves. For "Modern Family" star Ariel Winter, it was all just a little bit too much.

The actor, who portrayed academic overachiever middle daughter Alex Dunphy on the long-running hit ABC sitcom, seemed to disappear from Hollywood entirely for a while after the end of...

The young star landed the role of Alex Dunphy at just 11 years old, and as she got older, she faced scrutiny over her body with mean comments on social media and in the press.

“That was a major part of my teenage years,” she told People. “It was just everywhere. It was every headline I read about myself, like, grown people writing articles about me saying how I looked terrible or pregnant or like a fat slut. I mean, I was 14. It totally damaged my self-esteem.”

Winter played the daughter of Julie Bowen’s Claire and Ty Burrell’s Phil in the ABC comedy that ran for 11 seasons and ended in 2020. Facing the body shaming on social media was not easy for Winter as comments about her weight gain grew.

Ariel Winter is opening up about the downsides of fame during her time on the iconic ABC sitcom “Modern Family.”

"They Don't See the Fan Base": 'Speed Racer' 4K Uhd Release Gets Disappointing Update From Lilly Wachowski [Exclusive]
Image
For a franchise that only has one movie adaptation, released almost 20 years ago, Speed Racer has managed to retain an impressive and passionate fan base. The cult following that the film earned over the years would make you think that the Lana and Lilly Wachowski (The Matrix) movie would've earned at least one or two commemorative editions over the years, but that's hardly the case. In a new interview with Collider, Lilly Wachowski spoke about the possibility of the movie getting a 4K Uhd release, but the news is discouraging at best.

During an interview for her upcoming conversation at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures for The Matrix trilogy, Wachowski told Collider's Steve Weintraub that she actually took it upon herself to look into Warner Bros.' re-release because of how vocal the Speed Racer community is. The problem is, this kind of decision is out of her hands and,...

Like Father, Like Son Review: Brutality and Broken Bonds Explored
Image
Set in the early 1990s in a gritty, urban backdrop reminiscent of Richmond, California, the film opens with a scene that shocks the viewer: Gabe, a working-class man with a hidden propensity for violence, brutally assaults a local bully in full view of his young son, Eli. This single act of brutality sets a powerful narrative engine in motion. The film wastes no time in establishing the weight of its themes.

We watch as Eli, caught in the immediate aftermath of that violent day, embarks on a path steeped in conflict and uncertainty. The story tracks his transformation from a boy marked by a singular moment of horror into a man wrestling with a legacy of aggression and moral ambiguity.

Eli’s character is molded by the shadow of his father’s actions—a legacy that seems to cast a long, unavoidable shade over his every decision. As he navigates...

15 Best Modern Family Episodes Ranked
Image
In an age of sitcom reboots and sequels, is it too much to ask for one more season of "Modern Family" at some point? The hit ABC sitcom with a stellar ensemble cast ran for 11 seasons between 2009 and 2020, and it will likely be remembered as the last family sitcom to dominate broadcast television before streaming gobbled everything up. It explored the love lives, parenting styles, and relationships of three couples within the same non-traditional (at least by 2009 standards) family tree.

Sadly, unless that rumored Rob Riggle spin-off somehow presents co-creator Steven Levitan with his golden opportunity to write the next great multi-cam sitcom, we've likely seen all we ever will of the Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker-Marshall family. But before you rush off to watch one of the many great shows that followed in its footsteps, let's revisit the 15 best "Modern Family" episodes -- ranked by humor, heart, and how much they made us...

‘The writers just didn’t know what to do’: There’s No Defending ‘Modern Family’ When It Comes to Child Actors Who Were Used Horribly
Image
When Modern Family launched in 2009, the kids on the show were not just young, they were undeniably adorable and packed with humor. With their unique wits, naughty antics, and heartwarming portrayals, they captured the audience’s hearts and dominated the spotlight. However, as the show progressed, many fans began to notice a troubling trend. The child characters suffered significant declines in their development.

All of the child actors grew up in the show and in front of the cameras. However, the transition from childhood to adolescence remains one of the show’s biggest missteps. Instead of evolving the characters in a way that felt natural, they were reduced to some stereotypical characters that lost their charm. While it may be a comedy show, the way the show handled its young cast members raises typical questions about the writers’ ability to craft a good arc for these growing stars.

“It just makes him unlikeable”: Modern Family’ May Have Made Luke Hard to Love but Sarah Hyland’s Haley Got Away With the Same

Nolan Gould masterfully played the role of Luke in Modern Family for over a decade. As such, fans practically got to see him grow up in the show. While this should have pleased the fans all the more and made him a fan-favorite character, fate wasn’t by Gould’s side.

Unfortunately, instead of growing up to be a goofy, yet respectful teen, he turned into a horribly misogynistic character very quickly. Fans obviously had a hard time coping with that sudden shift from that mischievous little boy.

“The most natural development for any character”: ‘Modern Family’ Was Unfair to Haley, but She Still Got a Better Deal Than Alex as the Best Dunphy Child

Modern Family has often faced criticism for its handling of the kids’ character development, with all the younger characters receiving underwhelming arcs. However, the most notable case is that of the Dunphy sisters, Haley and Alex Dunphy, portrayed by Sarah Hyland and Ariel Winter, respectively.

Image
Despite its beloved characters and captivating plotlines, Modern Family has often received criticism concerning how it developed several of its characters. One such character also includes Haley Dunphy, portrayed by Sarah Hyland in the sitcom.

'Like Father Like Son' Review: An Irritating Low Point for the Genre
Image
Bad news, folks: apparently we have no free will or self-control. DNA means destiny as our fates are set in stone and dictated by inherited genetic traits. According toLike Father Like Son, an utterly nonsensical thriller that runs with this defeatist philosophy into a brick wall trifecta of a weak script, poor acting, and truly irritating filmmaking. There is one redeeming feature worth mentioning. The awful barrage doesn't last long.Like Father Like Son barely reaches 90 minutes, including the credits.

Set in 1990 Richmond, California, Eli McKinnon (Dylan Flashner) meets his hardscrabble father, Gabe (Dermot Mulroney), at the high school where he works as a custodian. Gabe is thankful Eli has come to help clean, but an altercation in a nearby field catches his attention. A homophobic bully targets a hapless queer student for a beating. Ariel Winter: “I hate that phrase, honestly” On the Thing She Hates the Most About Playing Alex in ‘Modern Family’
Image
Ariel Winter played the super smart yet socially anxious Alex in Modern Family. The sitcom saw her practically grow up on the show and the nerdy Dunphy went on to become a student at Caltech and achieved various feats as an academic. Winter won several SAG awards with the rest of the cast for her performance in the sitcom.

Winter famously had a traumatic childhood, which included growing up in showbiz and emancipating herself from her mother after accusing her of physical and emotional abuse. The actress was also subjected to intense public scrutiny while she was growing up and hence mentioned in an interview that she did not want to be a role model.

There’s an old adage that goes, “You can’t unring a bell,” and when it comes to certain storylines on television, sometimes it feels like there’s no turning back after that bell tolls. Modern Family, that beloved sitcom about the lovable, zany, and often dysfunctional Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan, managed to win over hearts across the globe for over a decade.
