For kids who grew up with the Disney Channel from the late 1990s all the way through to more recent years, Disney Channel Original Movies (or DCOMs) were a fundamental part of our childhood viewing habits, even though Disney's original television series are much more famous. Depending on how old you are, there are some that stand out as highlights more than others, but each era of the channel can claim at least a few major hits.
Is our enjoyment of these films merely the result of looking at the past through rose-colored glasses? That's certainly a part of it. But amidst the cheesy, family-friendly TV movies being churned out at a dizzying pace, every once in a while there's one that's legitimately good and can stand on its own merits. Whether they had a better-than-usual script, fun music and creative production, or young actors who already had tremendous star quality,...

When "Toy Story" was released in the fall of 1995, it not only established Pixar Animation Studios as an upstart studio worth paying attention to, but it also made clear to the entire animation industry that there was a new way to tell stories. Nothing against hand-drawn animation, of course, but now there was proof that computer animation could bring a wonderful, funny, exciting tale to life just as well as other styles within the medium of animation.
That was both good and bad news. It was good news because it allowed for competition to spring up in places like DreamWorks Animation and Illumination Entertainment. But the bad news was that, as was also the case with hand-drawn animation, there would be always cheaper options available. Yes, computer animation was in its nascent years, but it would improve. What if, though, some studios weren't able to progress technologically and had to use old-school-looking computer animation?...

Now, in all fairness to any staunch capitalists outraged by that headline, it’s hard to determine Homer Simpson’s exact political ideology given his tendency to misspeak. For instance, he probably meant to say, “Why can’t we have no kids and three money?”
Like most long-running satirical comedy shows, The Simpsons can be a bit all over the place when it comes to its political leanings. Sometimes the show portrays the Republican party as plainly and proudly evil, other times it says the Democrats can’t govern, but more, often than not, it’s aiming at both sides of the aisle and attacking the American political system as a whole — but don’t blame me, I voted for Kodos.
However, for all its topical condemnations of the 1990s most prominent politicians, there has been one political issue for which The Simpsons leaves no gray area. Homer Simpson is a card-carrying,...

Guns N’ Roses bandmates Duff McKagan and Slash have collaborated with Gibson CEO Cesar Gueikian on a new charity single titled “I Can Breathe.” It’s the lastest benefit song released under the Gibson Band moniker.
A year ago, System of a Down’s Serj Tankian and Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi appeared on the first Gibson Band charity single with Gueikian, a track called “Deconstruction.”
The new song, “I Can Breathe,” features McKagan on lead vocals, Slash on lead guitar and solos, and Gueikian on rhythm guitar and piano. The lyrics were penned by McKagan.
All proceeds from the song will benefit the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Nami), through Gibson Gives.
“It was such a pleasure to work with Cesar and his whole crew on this tune,” said McKagan in a press release. “The musical slant and progressive rock-ness of this huge epic pushed me in a whole new direction.

Outside of playing in Guns N’ Roses, lead guitarist Slash and bassist-vocalist Duff McKagan have long championed mental health organizations. For Giving Tuesday, they’ve teamed with Cesar Gueikian, CEO of instrument maker Gibson, for a new single, “I Can Breathe,” which will raise money for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (Nami). Slash previously raised money for Nami via his S.E.R.P.E.N.T. music festival.
“I Can Breathe” feels a little more metal than the music Slash and McKagan have recorded with Gn’R and Velvet Revolver.

It’s good to let the golden moments of childhood come flooding back sometimes, isn’t it? For many kids (& kids at heart), the Disney Channel played a starring role in our growing-up days, often feeling like an extension of our lives. Remember the superstar life depicted in Hannah Montana? And, what about the kids acting on a sketch show in Sonny with a Chance or dancing their hearts out in Shake it Up?

Despite immense popularity, the continuation of the series hit a stumbling block over financial disputes. Reportedly, the actress’ mom was pushing for a bigger paycheck.

We'll probably never know what Lizzie McGuire is doing in her adult years, but from Disney's point of view, that may be for the best. In the age of reboots and revivals, it was reported in 2019 that Disney was reviving Lizzie McGuire with Hilary Duff reprising her role as the titular teenager, now an adult navigating life as a thirty-something. This certainly made sense as Disney had successfully continued popular series like Boy Meets World and That's So Raven with Girl Meets World and Raven's House, respectively.
Behind the scenes, the project wound up falling apart, and it was revealed by the end of 2020 that the planned reboot was no longer moving forward. Anyone wondering what happened to change Disney's mind, look no further. Here's the saga of Lizzie McGuire — from its revival to its cancellation to a different sitcom project that Duff got to be a part of.

The canceled Lizzie McGuire reboot would have explored more mature themes, targeting the original audience of the show. The reboot would have featured a romantic twist between Lizzie and Ethan Craft, making the storyline more authentic and relatable. Disney's decision to cancel the reboot was a mistake, as it missed the opportunity to provide a realistic and entertaining revisit to beloved characters.
Exciting new details about the canceled Lizzie McGuire reboot are making Disney’s decision even more disappointing. Among Disney’s most popular TV shows in the early 2000s was Lizzie McGuire, a sitcom about the titular middle school-aged teen that launched the successful career of Hilary Duff. The show was so popular that it even spawned 2003’s The Lizzie McGuire Movie, which became a $55 million box office hit shortly before Lizzie McGuire's 2004 series finale was released on Disney Channel. The reboot of popular 2000s Disney Channel sitcom Lizzie McGuire was cancelled. Now, one of its writers has revealed a few new details about its plot.
Hilary Duff was a huge star among pre-teens in the early 2000s thanks to her portrayal of the eponymous character in Disney Channel sitcom Lizzie McGuire – and its subsequent movie.
The show followed the awkward, klutzy teen as she navigated life, school with best friends Gordo and Miranda, played by Adam Lamberg and Lalaine. There was also her family – her younger brother Matt, played by Jake Thomas, and her embarrassing parents, played by Hallie Todd and Robert Carradine – whose brother David appeared in one episode as a mentor to Matt when he made his own kung fu film.
One memorable aspect of the show was the frequent use of an animated version of Lizzie, which represented her inner monologue. The show’s popularity led...

Jonathan Hurwitz, a writer on the canceled Lizzie McGuire reboot, is opening up about the storylines the series would’ve covered.
In a TikTok video, Hurwitz says that the first two episodes of the Disney+ series were shot and written. The first episode finds Hilary Duff’s Lizzie living in New York City as an interior designer. Lizzie soon finds out her chef boyfriend is cheating on her with her best friend, which prompts her to move back to her childhood home in California, where animated Lizzie is waiting for her.
Fans of the Disney Channel series questioned if Lizzie and her best friend Gordo would be the end game, but the writer revealed that in Episode 2, Lizzie finds out her childhood friend is about to be a father and happily engaged.
At the end of the second episode, Lizzie gets a message from her childhood crush, Ethan Craft.
