Image
Washington Commanders Head Coach Ron Rivera has fined Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio 100,000 for minimizing the attack on the Capitol as a “dust-up.”

“Words have consequences and his words hurt a lot of people in our community,” Rivera wrote in a statement. “I want to make it clear that our organization will not tolerate any equivalency between those who demanded justice in the wake of George Floyd’s murder and the actions of those on January 6 who sought to topple our government.”

The View (1997)
‘The View’ Hosts Praise Super Bowl Halftime Show, But Say NFL Is ‘Not Really Doing the Work’ for Racial Equality (Video)
The View (1997)
The women of “The View” really loved the Super Bowl halftime show — but they still aren’t happy with the NFL as a whole. On Monday’s show, the hosts argued that the league still has a long way to go when it comes to racial equity.

The Super Bowl was, of course, the first topic of discussion during the show, with the panel congratulating the Rams on their victory. Then, they turned to the halftime show, which featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige and Eminem. The women agreed that the performances were incredible, but noted that just having a show that primarily featured Black artists wasn’t enough.

“I do want to say though, as celebratory as it was, as wonderful as it was, I think it’s important not to let the NFL off the hook,” Ana Navarro said. “And not to...

NFL Promises “Action” Over Washington Team’s Sexual Harassment Allegations; Besieged Owner Dan Snyder Pledges “New Culture” At Organization
Image
Revelations of a potentially pervasive toxic environment within the Washington Redskins franchise means the Dan Snyder-owned team might be losing more than its offensive name if the NFL has anything to do with it.

A day after the Washington Post published a scathing exposé of 15 female former Redskins employees who have accused the organization of sexual harassment and fostering a culture of abuse, the Roger Goodell-led league finally has stepped on the field, and it sounds like the clock is ticking on the future of the team under its current ownership — maybe

As you can see in the tweet below, the increasingly conscientious league calls the allegations “serious, disturbing and contrary to the NFL’s values” and, in typical pass-the-buck fashion, promises to take “action” down the line:

Image

On July 3, the NFL team had announced a review of the name and logo, which was widely interpreted as a signal that they would finally be changing.

“Today we are announcing we will be retiring the Redskins name and logo upon completion of this review,” the team said Monday in a statement.

Owner Dan Snyder and head coach Ron Rivera, the statement added, “are working closely to develop a new name and design approach that will enhance the standing of the proud, tradition-rich franchise and inspire our sponsors, fans and community for the next 100 years.”

Activists had long attacked the name and logo as demeaning to Native Americans, but Snyder insisted that it was intended (and taken) as a sincere tribute to their courage. During the recent storm of protests over racial injustice,...
