Aaron J. Humphrey
Aaron J. Humphrey is an architectural Lighting Designer based in Carbondale, CO. His work spans all aspects of lighting, from custom homes to large scale commercial, institutional, municipal, hospitality, worship, site & roadway, and code authorship. Aaron began his career by studying technical theatre at Bates College, in Lewiston, ME. Post graduation, he was a stagehand, carpenter, and electrician, working on projects like Universal's Haunted Horror Nights and Disneyland's Toon Town. He later worked at Colortran, Inc., as International Project Manager and Fixtures Product Manager, supervising large theatrical dimming systems worldwide. Eventually, he moved to Portland, OR, where he was the lighting designer at Glumac International, a large MEP engineering firm. His projects ranged from Nike World Headquarters to college campuses, churches, bridges, and high-rise towers. Later, Aaron settled in Colorado, founded Alpenglow Lighting Design, and continues to design lighting and controls for a wide variety of projects nationwide.
He also spent over 20 years as an alpine skiing race coach, and was a coach, crew chief, team leader, and official on hundreds of domestic races at all levels. He also worked on over 240 Olympic and World Cup events. A life-long skier and former racer, he enjoys free skiing and cycling with his family.
