M J McMahon has recently directed commercials for Jaguar and what3words, with other significant directing work for Nike and Netflix. He has directed multiple short films, most notably Killing Thyme, starring Brian Cox (Succession) and Charlotte Riley (Peaky Blinders), which won the Best Narrative Short Film Audience Award at the Austin Film Festival.

He served as an Executive Producer on the Netflix chart-topping sci-fi feature film T.I.M., the ephemeral film festival hit Piano to Zanskar, and the forthcoming psychological horror film Daddy's Head, set for a Halloween release on Shudder. He is also one of the co-producers of the official documentary about Nelson Mandela's life, Mandela: Troublemaker, working in conjunction with the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

Prior to this, M J McMahon worked for a decade with M2 Television and Molinare, contributing to a wide selection of TV productions and feature films, culminating in his role as a Film Executive on the Oscar-winning The King's Speech. In 2011, he co-founded the London-based production company Capture. Through Capture's Film Division, he produced the BFI-backed The Man from Mo'Wax, the official documentary on underground DJ James Lavelle and DJ Shadow. This documentary world premiered at SXSW and was officially selected for MIFF, IDFA, and LFF, with over 50 film festival appearances and a UK nationwide release via Trafalgar Releasing, as well as a soundtrack release through Universal Music and Island Records.
