Kahlier R. Hart was born in Linstead, Jamaica. She was raised in a single parent household to Hyacinth Robinson Clarke, a Home Health aide. She found an interest in film while attending Hofstra University, where she received her BA in Communications. She later became known for her work on Lenox Avenue (2009), Lenox Avenue (2012) and Nigger or Not? (2003).
