- Inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2005.
- Was the first wrestler to hold the American Wrestling Association Women's Championship.
- Is a multiple medalist in the Senior Olympics, winning gold and silver in the discus and shot put, as well as in various swimming events.
- Wrestled professionally from 1954 until her retirement in 1977. Currently, she remains active in the sport as the commissioner of the Professional Girl Wrestling Association.
- Studied judo as a teenager following an attempted sexual assault on her, and became well known during her wrestling career for using judo moves in her matches.
