    • Christine Todd Whitman is an American Republican politician and author who served as the 50th Governor of New Jersey from 1994 to 2001 and was the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency in the administration of President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2003. She is the first woman to have served as governor of New Jersey.

  • EPA Administrator (January 31, 2001 - June 27, 2003).
  • Credits Howard Stern with helping her win the gubernatorial election. Stern promised her that he would endorse her daily on his radio show if she promised to name a rest stop on the New Jersey Turnpike after him if she were elected. She won and kept her promise. But she was soon forced by protesters to have the plaque with Stern's name taken down.
  • Attended Far Hills Country Day School and the Chapin School in Manhattan. Graduated from Wheaton College in 1968, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in government. After graduating, she worked on Nelson Rockefeller' s presidential campaign.
