Kevin Fortson, the Executive Vice President of Production & Administration for Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, will retire this summer after three decades with the studio.

“For the past 30 years, Kevin has been an indelible part of Warner Bros,” said Mike Darnell, President, Warner Bros. Unscripted Television. “His name has literally become synonymous with the company and the lot itself. Personally, I will miss him for his counsel, his friendship and his endless string of dad jokes. He truly is one in a million … although he would probably try to cut that budget down! He is as important to the studio as any movie or television show ever produced here, and if I had the power to do it, there would be a stage with his name on it, right next to Friends and The Big Bang Theory. Warner Bros Television is cutting more than a quarter of its workforce as part of its parent company’s drive to cut costs.

The studio is cutting 26 of personnel, a total of 125 positions, across scripted, unscripted and animation.

As part of the broad WarnerMedia restructuring announced by CEO Jason Kilar, Warner Bros Television Group chairman Peter Roth is consolidating the studio’s scripted and unscripted television production operations.

On the unscripted side, the studio’s efforts will continue to be led by Warner Bros Unscripted & Alternative Television president Mike Darnell, who will continue to oversee Warner Horizon Unscripted Television, Telepictures and Shed Media, reporting to Roth. Physical production, business affairs and finance for all unscripted programming will now be consolidated in a new organizational structure servicing all three labels, resulting in a number of layoffs.

Warner Horizon Scripted Television has promoted Leigh London Redman to executive vice president of scripted programming, in addition to promoting two other executives in production and business affairs.

In her new role, Redman will spearhead day-to-day creative affairs activities related to all original scripted programming produced by the studio. Warner Horizon is the division of Warner Bros. TV that focuses on on-demand/streaming and basic cable platforms.

Kevin E. Fortson and Matt Matzkin were promoted to newly created roles as executive vice presidents in production (Fortson) and business affairs (Matzkin) for both Warner Horizon Scripted Television as well as Warner Horizon Unscripted Television.
